Apparently, in a similar vein to Motherwell using their friendly against Newcastle to fund the Alicante trip, Cowdenbeath are using the gate receipts for a trip to the chippy in Pittenweem.

Pretty much my thoughts. I don't care how good the new players are (and they seem like a decent bunch) it's going to take a settling in period before they gel. Taking that into account, top 6 is a reasonable initial target before we start getting carried away. Plus, we may be relying on more youngsters this season, and that in itself will lead to a few inconsistent performances. Looking forward to it all though. Can't wait for it to kick off.

Nobody said it was "supposed" to be signed on Monday. McCall said last Friday he was "cautiously optimistic" it would be signed by Monday or Tuesday, but Faddy hadn't even been given a written offer at that stage. He also said yesterday that Faddy's agent was still telling him that other offers were coming in. Whatever the reasons, it has never been straightforward dealing with Faddy and his many advisors, and I agree that if we don't get it settled soon we need to move on to the next target.

McCall said during one of his MFCTV interviews that he was experimenting with 3 at the back for our Euro ties, but I don't know if he was looking to set up that way in the league.

Way too soon to start trying to make that assessment.

Old farts like myself waited a long time for a Cup win. That arrived eventually.

Faddy doesn't seem to deal with the club directly. Last time it was all managers and lawyers and agents and phone calls and more agents and more lawyers. Feels like he needs to get 3 approvals every time he wants to take a free kick. Last Friday, however, McCall said they hadn't even given him the written version of the offer yet, so him not having signed anything by Tuesday isn't a particularly long time for anything. In internet time, though, it's an eternity.
