If we keep winning our games, we will stay up. It's that simple - not easy, but simple. You can guarantee when the chips are down one team will lose their bottle and one team will step up. Last season, it was us who stepped up to win our last 3 games and overtake Aberdeen. Hopefully, this season it will be us again - just at the other end of the table. If we stay in touch with 10th and 9th until post-split, it's all to play for with a lot of 6 pointers.
-
True, but it makes our result even more important. Plenty of opportunities for the bottom 6 to lose points and, even better, take points off each other. We need to keep our momentum going because best case it will keep us out of a relegation spot and worst case (I hope) will give us some positive form going into a play off.

The guy's a goal scorer as he proves time and time again; even when he isn't firing on all cylinders. I'd definitely be happy if we kept him as he gives us options and I'm sure Moore and Erwin can learn a lot from him. If there is any chance of keeping Skippy, though, I fear one of our strikers will be released. Not sure Skippy will be sticking around though.

Aye, I remember I was reading the Evening Times waiting for a train at Argyle Street when I read he had signed. Was delighted as it seemed more likely he was going to Hearts at the time. Wee Tommy had been building his team from the back, which wasn't pretty at times, but it was effective. Signing guys like Cooper & Russell (whose contribution is sometimes overlooked) was when he started building an attacking force on that foundation. As much as Davie's skills impressed, I always enjoyed watching his positioning too. He had an uncanny knack of watching 2 players challenging for a ball and standing in exactly the right place to collect it when it broke. You can't teach that. Always gave me the fear when he was taking corners and free kicks against us, so was delighted to get the benefit of that for a few years.

That's why he's the manager and the posters on here are punters.

For Johnson, it seems to be fitness - which isn't surprising. The gaffer mentioned in his interview that it's a big step up for him (from the Conference) and he has needed to adjust to the intensity of the higher league.

Highlights are up on youtube now (at least in the US). Looks like it was a cracking game. Ainsworth's first was a belter - no rotation on the ball as it flew in. Sweet strike. Have to say if Imrie's had gone in it would have been even better. Shame.
-
Maybe, but he's no Derek Murray.

BT Sport 1 on cricfree.tv is working for me. http://cricfree.tv/bt-sport-1-live-stream-1(in fact)

I think there is an edit function. EDIT: Aye, at the bottom of your post like before.

On my PC at work, the old colour background seems to be the most efficient and gives best performance on Firefox. The Petrol Blue works great on my Mac at home, but not too friendly with Firefox. Not a complaint, by the way, just some information for anyone else who might be having trouble. I know from bitter experience how procecssor/javascript/browser version/browser plugin/OS version etc. combinations can make it impossible to find a one-size-fits-all scheme for web sites. On the same PC using Chrome, all the background work great.

I have a refurb Mac at home with a Retina display that supports that resolution. Looks great, but I agree it's definitely not necessary.

We'd have been playing the last few weeks even with summer football. Just thst the groundsmans would have needed to prepare a playing surface during the winter. Good luck growing grass in mid January.

TBH, I always regarded my contribution the the WS as money I'd never see again. A bit like buying a season ticket - a sunk cost with the hope it helps maintain the viability of the club. You can argue the toss whether it's fair that Les would be at the front of the queue, but it's certainly standard for any investor in any business.

Signing him long term means we want to develop him and/or sell him on. It doesn't mean he's a starter. Again, I'm not saying don't play him or only give him 5 minutes - but let's not jump the gun and pretend he has the strength, fitness and guile to be a regular first team starter. He looks the part from a talent perspective and definitely worth a run out in most games.
-
TBF, Erwin was on the fringe of the first team at a much younger age before he had a couple of nasty injury setbacks.
-
But the question is, is he better as a starter? I think the answer is possibly not yet - but certainly worth much more than 5 minutes at the end of a game.

20 quid sent. Cheers for your hard work maintaining and upgrading the site.

I'll be surprised if we hammer anybody this season. Be happy with 3 points - don't care about style of win.

Any updates on overseas members being able to use the website to renew/ugprade?
-
The renewal question is a good one to bring up on here. Initially, it turned out, the renewal fee was being used to cover the cost of the benefits being doled out. Not a great deal for the non-locals and expats, but at least their money was being channeled into the Society. From memory, I think that was changed, but don't recall the details as I wasn't using any of the benefits. Either way, if you don't "renew" you don't actually lose your membership or your right to vote. Be good to hear what the current official position is on this, as it was always a little confusing.

I think some confirmation bias is at play here. Of course we had our troubles in the goalkeeping department last season, but keepers are just like every other player on the park - they will make mistakes. Skippy should have hit the target early on in the ICT game, but he screwed up his shot. That was a mistake that could have cost us a goal, but it gets forgotten (rightly so) in the grand scheme of things. In that same game, Long's save at the feet of the striker just before half time probably helped us go on and win the game. The bigger difference this season is that we still aren't scoring many goals. So if we lose one to a mistake, we aren't doing enough at the other end to make up for it. I guarantee if we start knocking in 2 or 3 goals a game, this focus on the keeper will be much less intense and critical.

Half of those guys were "flung in" to a team cruising along in the First Division - not quite the same circumstances. Likewise, Butcher played guys because they were the only guys he had in the squad. Right now it's a difficult balance, because we still have a fighting chance to stay up, so the boss has to be careful. Any youngster is likely to go out and be mince on any given day. I agree with Busta, however, that 5 mins isn't enough - much better to give a guy 20 minutes or so at least. Although, to be fair, Bara is much more flexible with his subs than McCall ever was. As for modern day football bollocks, you could argue McFadden's career never hit the heights his talent deserved because of his injury issues - some of which may be due to playing him too much when he was a teenager.

I can't even upgrade my membership because the payment processor they use only accepts UK bank accounts.

Aye, that's true enough. I'm not sure what the cut off is, but 14 is a bit young. The entire transfer / development fee system has been a mess since Bosman.
