Like I said, I make no claims he was brilliant, but 9 years is a long time to hang around if you are useless. I don't care how many managers you serve under.

They don't even make the top 2: Number One: John Gardiner Number Two: Howard Samaroff and Gardiner wins it by a mile.

So, despite the fact he was mince, nobody at Fir Park was smart enough to either terminate his contract or not renew his contract - they felt it was better to keep paying him for 9 years. He wasn't even close to the worst keeper we have had in my lifetime.
  4. The problem isn't people posting boring drivel, or even people being trying to shout down others' opinions (although that is a little more obnoxious). Censorship is generally the poorer alternative. The problem is the escalation of crap that would die a death if people would just ignore it. That is a more recent internet phenomenon, and by no way limited to this site.
  5. People take the internet far too seriously.
  6. Obviously, he sets up a team to annoy the fans and give us a small a chance of winning as possible. When players don't execute his instructions (by accidentally doing something good), he changes it by bringing on injured replacements who are motivated only by fans' jeers.
  7. 100% this. If there was ever a time to give them a chance, it's this season. Let's hope the fans give them the same chance.
  8. Do you really think that was McCall's instructions to the midfield?
  9. Right, but there are also guys like Ainsworth who seem to be carrying knocks that don't look 100% either.
  10. We've been keeping the injuries very hush-hush. First of all, because we obviously don't want other teams to be aware who is carrying and knock. Secondly, as McCall has said himself, because he doesn't want to use them as an excuse for poor performances. I understand the reasoning, but it makes it a lottery trying to pick a lineup or a result for this game.
  11. Bilate was being touted to Motherwell - then they found out what his wage demands were and they fall "far outside" anything we could afford. So, you're wrong again.
  12. Can the mindreaders on here let me know tonight's lottery numbers? Cheers.

Is that the defenders' excuse for giving away so many cheap goals from set pieces last season? "I didn't pick up my man because Hollis made me feart".

You mean we'll be back to the "he's lazy", "doesn't look interested", "in the huff with the manager", "arguing with his team mates" comments he suffered the last time around?

And Big Tam Forsyth came back as Wee Tommy's assistant. And Bobby Watson made a brief return as gaffer.

I couldn't have told you the year without looking it up, but he left in '79 and returned in '84.

Gregor Stevens springs to mind as a pre-McLair. Given that they were both shadows of the players that left us (to put it kindly), I'm not surprised we gave it a miss for a few years.
  18. Another guy that took pelters from sections of the crowd for many years (until he became the Supersub Cup Hero).
  19. McCall was being a bit cagey in his post-match St. Mirren interview, but it sounded like Ainsworth was one the guys carrying a knock and who needed to be iced after the game.
  20. With any luck, Moore will be back fit by January. Given our financial situation, that may play into the length of any loan deals (assuming we take on some of the loanee's salary).
  21. Unless things have changed over the past couple of days, I think an unfit Motherwell side will be no match for a fit Utd side. Be delighted if we manage a point.
  22. Big Gunnar was at Man City for 3 years and we managed to sign him
  23. Aye, a vote from someone who can't even find the thread will really shut them up.
  24. Did McCall not say the ref took advice from the linesman about Goodwin regarding an off-the-ball incident, rather than being related to the foul?
