  1. There are no special laws inside a football stadium in that regard. Freedom of speech has never meant the right to scream abuse in your face.
  2. Actually, in this particular game, margin of defeat counted too and we did a good job of damage limitation there.
  3. Looks like a crap Star Trek uniform, but that's just me.
  4. No, we don't need them - just too many clubs set up a budget dependent on them. Now they need to readjust.
  5. No doubt about it. If we didn't have a keeper as good as Randolph our open style of play could have landed us with a few more losses. He has been an key part of our success this season.
  6. It's a buyers market these days with many more good players than there are first team starting slots - thanks to every league slashing squad sizes. McCall was not only comfortable with the budget before he signed on for a couple more years, but also feels he can hang on to a few of the current out-of-contractors. If you follow the club's financial communication they have been up front about this all along. We made a nice wee profit 2 years ago, but expected to make a loss this past year. And let's not pretend that losing Sevco hasn't hurt us financially - but for me, that has been a price worth paying. The gaffer says he is being inundated with calls and DVDs from agents down south and some other SPL clubs. They obviously know our wage situation, but it doesn't seem to be putting them off. McCall has also spoken about how we offer decent win bonuses, and our success this season has meant a lot of money going into the players' pockets. The downside to that is it has cost more than expected. Will be interesting to see, however, if all the folks who said "I'll happily watch us if our team was all youngsters as long as Rangers don't get into the SPL" are as adamant about it now. All in all, like I said in an earlier post, this has been the plan for quite some time now, so it's not a surprise. Everyone in the league is in the same boat and I'm much more comfortable with the Board taking this approach than spending money we don't (or might not) have.
  7. 3 home games against Celtic doesn't generate any more cash than 2 home games against Rangers and 1 home game against Celtic in any other season. TV money was reduced this season. Crowds averages are down by around 600 or so this season. Getting papped out in the first round of both Euro competitions doesn't generate a huge amount of extra cash (although the final amount we are awarded hasn't been determined yet I don't think). We didn't get as far in the Cups as we budgeted for. The club said earlier in the season that we are paying out more win bonuses than we had budgeted for. Plus, was there not a projected loss to manage as well? EDIT: I don't think we're in bad shape though, and our rivals will be in the same boat. We also seem to have done good business in signing up some the U-20s that we wanted to hold on to.
  8. He did - and even mentioned it on his MFC TV interview after he had signed on again.
  9. Not a surprise though - the club communicated this a few months back. Another reason the Cup failures were so disappointing as they can make a difference.
  10. Ooft. I had erased the Ayr Utd, Raith Rovers and Accies games from my memory.
  11. Just for kicks, checked the MFC ebay thread and the last Matchday auction started on the 16th of April.
  12. I'd be wary of Brum right now thanks to their shady "President" and his money laundering activities. Type of situation that can turn nasty very quickly.
  13. That was to keep up with the guys wearing suits and ties on the terraces there.
  14. Stepped up their performance and, if necessary, spent a couple of million quid on new players.
  15. So in summary. 1) No consolidation of the governing bodies. 2) No redistribution of income. 3) No expansion of the top flight. 4) A playoff structure that nobody has quite thought out What's not to like?
  16. Because we already have him signed up until the end of the 2013/2014 season?
  17. Higdon's been a joy to watch this season and I'm lucky to have witnessed both his and Wullie P's record breaking seasons. For all that, I think we will face a bigger challenge (although, only just) in trying to replace Law.
  18. Depends what you mean by significant, but I thought that offers have already been made to the players we want to keep. Now it's a case of waiting to see if they find better elsewhere.
  19. Liked the 2 different descriptions of Higgy's pen from the Beeb and Sky Beeb: The thinking man's penalty Sky: Here's where I'm putting it, you're no' going tae get it
  20. He seemed pretty happy in the studio too - was really enjoying the performance.
  21. Aye, let him put out what ever Celtic team he likes - we can beat them all.
  22. His old team mate in the studio is keeping him on the straight and narrow. McAllister was always a good influence.
