Everyone can't even agree if Higdon is a decent player or absolute mince.
-
Higdon has scored more goals this season than Andy Carroll has scored in his last 61 games.
-
I'm a fan of Higgy, but not so blind as to understand some of the criticisms leveled at him. He is definitely not blessed with pace or jumping ability. From his overhead kick against Hibs to the volley that scraped the post last week, however, I don't think his touch is open to question. In fact, from a pure footballing perspective, I think he is one of our more talented players.

I take it your mate isn't one of the fans with a complicated job.
-
I have a tenner that says we don't end up with 14.

Utd. seem to have the style of game that matches up well with Celtic, but I was surprised Celtic let that 2 goal lead slip. Think we have a decent chance of 3 points in this game, but like others on here, 1pt plus 3 against Dundee would make for a good week's work.
-
This. Plus, for me, even if we did beat them at home, it wouldn't make up for the last defeat. That was a unique set of circumstances where stuffing them would have been particularly sweet.

Few things stood out for me on the highlights. Higgy's volley was great technique and would have made for a cracking goal. Likewise for Law's goal - controlled with his left footed and dinking it over the keeper with his right. Nice. Goal nets - never understood why some places have them so tight the ball bounces back out after you score. Let it nestle!

Or get the same video from the youtube channel.

St. Johnstone games always seem to be baltic. I have memories of Shuggie Sproat having a mini snowball fight with some fans at one game, and I thought I was going to catch hypothermia the first time I went to their new stadium.

I don't hold much with the lack of emotion thing. Some of the greatest managers and coaches across all sports never show anything (Bill Belichick at the New England Patriots being a classic example). And while I have great appreciation for what Butcher did as a manager when he took over, I also remember seeing some of our worst performances under his watch. Let's not pretend he took our squad and turned them into a bunch of table-topping winners. We finished something like 12th-6th-6th-8th when he was the boss and I'm not even going to mention the CIS Cup Final.

I think some fans have started to take top 3 or 4 + Europe + Decent Cup Run for granted. Outside Celtic (to coin a phrase) the SPL is incredibly tight and with teams playing more youngsters, the results are very unpredictable. We are definitely in a trough right now. We were in one last season when people hit the panic button and then we beat Dunfermline, Hearts and Hibs in a week. Then the panic button was hit again when people were convinced Dundee Utd. would take 3rd place away from us. Like others, I think the sale of Jennings has had a big impact on our midfield and we haven't been able to adjust. However, having been through 43 seasons of watching this mob, I always start off with the ambition of finishing above relegation as some level of success! Top 6 is great, a cup final arguably better, but there will be some seasons where we are bottom 6. Longer term, we need to expand our squad by a couple of more bodies, and get some of the youngsters continued first team experience. I was always expecting this season to be somewhat transitional and potentially less successful with the smaller budget and playing personnel, but we can still make top 6 with what we have and I wouldn't see that as a failure.

We'll have peaks and troughs every season. No need for a crystal ball to see that and it's not triggered by a goal here or there.
-
About as well as we used to cope with Stokes and Riordan I expect! Our style has seemed to suit Hibs' strikers in the past few years, but fortunately their defence has suited ours. Looking forward to a good game and us to sneak it 3 - 2.

I'm not sure about current players or managers chipping as, when they move on, it could create a conflict of interest (however minor). McCall, for example, would have almost certainly voted 'yes' to keeping Sevco in the SPL. If the Society was loaded up with current players, they might be more inclined to vote for self-interest than club interest.
-
That's right. The communication we received regarding voting read: "As was previously highlighted, the information supplied by the members can only be used by you, acting as a Society member, to evaluate the applicant’s suitability for the role of a Society Board member. The content shall not be used for any other purpose or disclosed to any third party."

Those are both cracking wee grounds, but when you see that the Kalmaar cost over 22 million quid, then there is no chance of ever seeing us build a similar one.
-
Forest Green Rovers' cheapest season ticket is more expensive than ours. Their highest ever attendance is less than 5000. I have no idea what conclusions to draw from that, but it's pretty interesting. I picked them out as they used to be my local team, but other Blue Square clubs have similar pricing.
-
My impression was that if you responded to Alison's email that you couldn't attend in person you would get an 'in absentia' vote.

The Airdrie game was the worst for me because I was young and naive. We were flying high (for us) and for a kid like me, I thought playing a 'weaker' team would be an easy path to a final. If nothing else it taught me at an early stage in my supporting career that nothing is guaranteed with our mob.
-
2nd game. Edit: On the plus side, I bought my scarf for that tie and still wear it to the games.
-
The one that upset me most when I was younger was losing to Airdrie in the Scottish Cup semi replay.
-
Where did Andy say there was a weeding out process?
-
Aye, but you're probably one of those people that thinks there's leg room on a plane too.
-
Would be nice, but cost 25 million. More than 3 times the cost of a Barr effort like St. Mirren Park.
