  1. SPL goal scoring record, obviously. Most records are pre and post war. As our stats expert, I thought you would know that (and understand why).
  2. I liked Reynolds when he was with us. 150+ games by the time he was 23, so although he had experience, he still had some rawness to his game. I think his improvement has continued since he left us and he has been one of Aberdeen's better signings.
  3. Higdon beat our goalscoring record on his own, but you thought he was mince. Statistics, eh?
  4. The one positive is that I heard was Vigurs saying they were going there to win. Makes a change from the usual "We have to be at our best and catch them on an off day" patter. Be happy with a good performance, and a point would be a bonus. Just get in about them and see what happens.
  5. http://www.steelmenonline.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=14042&view=findpost&p=401690 http://www.steelmenonline.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=13626&view=findpost&p=387438 http://www.steelmenonline.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=13262&view=findpost&p=365458 Stopped looking after that.
  6. Not one of our best, but not worthy of a place in the Worst Ever list. His 2 goal debut was enough to keep off that.
  7. Too late for Bob, but I see that the SPFL has now relaxed the loan rule so clubs can now send 2 players to a lower Division. Full story.
  8. Murray's weakness was his positioning. He consistently stood too far off the man he was marking and didn't get close enough to tackle. If he had the speed of, say, and Andy Dornan, he could have got away with it. But he didn't, and he couldn't. As someone who stood in the shed, there were many times I was closer to the opponent than he was. As for John Gardiner - of course as a professional keeper he did occasionally make saves and even have a game or two when he didn't make mistakes. However, his overall performances were littered with poor positioning, inability to take a cross and 'spills'.
  9. It almost (but not quite) became boring running in massive amounts of goals on a weekly basis. The 7 - 1 at Clydebank was ridiculous, as they were one of the top 1st Division teams at the time. Was definitely one of my favourite seasons as a 'Well fan. Think I made it to very away ground too.
  10. 92 in the league, 4 in the League Cup, 0 in the Scottish Cup thanks to the early exit at the hands of Aberdeen. All the details are here. I think Brian McLaughlin and Willie Irvine were fighting out for top scorer and Willie nicked it with his goal against Hearts last game of the season (which also meant Killie went up with us instead of the Jambos).
  11. Jeffers' movement off the ball was also some of the best I have seen. The space he created at times was immense.
  12. According to their published financial statements, St. Johnstone posted a loss of £233,464 in 2012 and £192,767 in 2013. Even with an increase in income their costs have meant they are still losing money as a club.
  13. So, because some people get away with crimes, your theory is all people should? Like the earlier poster said, maybe wait till we hear all the facts before the mock outrage begins.
  14. Aye, and there were multiple posters on here trying to convince me that he was going to be a great signing because of his great ball playing skills. They were pretty quiet after his first few games.
  15. In my time our best league run was when Davie Hay was the manager in the first Division. We lost our first game away at Killie (2 - 0), and then had a sequence of 20 unbeaten: Motherwell 1-0 Queens Park Motherwell 2-2 Hamilton Academical St Johnstone 1-3 Motherwell Motherwell 3-2 Falkirk Dumbarton 0-6 Motherwell Motherwell 3-0 Raith Rovers Dunfermline 1-2 Motherwell Motherwell 3-0 East Stirlingshire Motherwell 1-1 Ayr United Clydebank[4] 1-7 Motherwell Motherwell 2-2 Heart Of Midlothian QoS 0-2 Motherwell Queens Park 0-1 Motherwell Motherwell 2-0 Kilmarnock Falkirk 1-1 Motherwell Motherwell 6-1 Dunfermline Athletic East Stirling 0-6 Motherwell Motherwell 3-1 Clydebank[4] Hearts 0-3 Motherwell Motherwell 2-1 Queen of the South (before finally losing a derby match to Accies, 1 - 0) Was quite a season, that one.
  16. According to this site, Hearts, Aberdeen, Partick Thistle and St. Johnstone are the only SPFL clubs to have seen an increase this season.
  17. The only explanation for Ruby Murray's playing style is that he thought he could use Jedi Mind Tricks to make opponents give him the ball. I have never seen a defender stand so far off a man he was supposed to be marking. The only change I'd make to that team is swap out Sam Goodwin for Paul Wilson, but it's a close call.
  18. Pat Gardner, of course, would be first on any team sheet of this nature
  19. There used to be people at Fir Park who yelled at Davie Cooper for not tackling enough. Just sayin'.
  20. Apparently, as of last week, we had accumulated more points than Celtic did at the same stage of last season. That just shows how well they have been playing this time around. If nothing else, Celtic's style always gives us a slightly better chance of a result than when we play the other half of the bigot brothers, but it's going to be tough to get anything from this one.
  21. Onions? No chance. No need to taint a quality sausage with any Fancy Dan trimmings.
  22. John Gardiner made Woods look like Dino Zoff.
