I'm sorry, but this just smacks of the 'plucky Motherwell' headlines we are likely to see in tomorrow's papers. I have no problem in with being proud of the team for their achievements, and both amazed and delighted we made a CL game in my lifetime. That doesn't mean there isn't some disappointment in some of the errors that we made. When we beat Hearts at Tynecastle last season to set ourselves up for 3rd place, I don't remember any chat about them being bigger and stronger and costing more than Motherwell can ever dream of (even though all 3 are true). There is no shame in losing over the 2 legs to a team of that calibre. There is no shame in being proud of what we have achieved. I don't, however, think it's unreasonable to be annoyed at the nature of the first goal we conceded tonight or concerned that we are still lacking a cutting edge (whether against Greeks or SPL opponents). Remember, we a have a number of players with European experience at club and U-21 level and would expect them to be just a little more savvy sometimes. That doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the tie, it just sets up more talking points for the upcoming games - including lessons to take into our Europa Cup adventure.

If the opinion is along the lines of "any man under 40 could play as well as Higdon", I think 'muppet' is being generous.

The fact that he didn't learn his lesson from last week is sufficiently worrying.

I don't think that was the plan in the first half. When Aberdeen were successful in Europe, they played this way for all their away games. First half, shut up shop - second half, open up. Not to say we are going to do anything dramatic tonight, but base on our propensity to lose early/slack goals, no harm in starting off with these tactics.

McCall said that while we were looking to score first, he wasn't necessarily looking to score early. So the plan is working

Which one of these readily available goal-scoring machines do you suggest we sign up as a replacement? I'm sure Motherwell, and most SPL clubs, would love to know.

At a time when development of youngsters is at a premium, why would the board go against the judgement of McCall and, in particular, Young? Doesn't make sense to me.

Ultimately, I think we are still lacking a bit of match sharpness due, in part, to limited competitive game time with our restricted pre-season schedule. Time will tell, of course, but regaining that cutting edge is something that will hopefully return after a couple more run outs.

I don't disagree - and maybe the seat on the bench helped him a focus a bit more when he came on. Of course, McCall might just have been saving him for the second leg!

The story on here was that Ojamaa was dropped due to disciplinary reasons. I don't know if that is true or not, but even if not, a number of people are of the opinion that he didn't do himself any favours on Tuesday night. I haven't seen every minute of every pre-season game, but in the highlights (against Accies for example) Daley was directly involved in a couple of the goals and a number of the chances. I did see all of the Panathanaikos game and thought that either through inexperience or greed, Henrik messed up a few of our scoring opportunities.

Because Panathanaikos at home is a different proposition from Ross County away.

I think we are suffering from the pre-season cancelations. That kind of sharpness is what those games develop.

So it was dire and we kept a clean sheet and got a point. History shows that the newly promoted teams usually get at least a point in their first home game, and that teams in the middle of a Euro tie often struggle. That, plus the fact we missed a few key pre-season games, means a win today was optimistic rather than likely. If you can't win, then take your point, go home and get ready for the next one.

Glad to see nobody is overreacting to our first away point of the season.
