  1. True, but I was at Fir Park before he was born I wasn't commenting on his support for the club anyway, but rather his posts about budgets and corporate governance that have been way off the mark.
  2. I didn't realise The Record had an opening for a new Financial Journo.
  3. Don't know if it's technically possible yet, but I'd be willing to buy a 'season ticket' subscription to live streams on MFC TV.
  4. Shhh. Don't tell the wife
  5. I'd be surprised if we didn't punt one (or two) of the above this season.
  6. Aye, they are a good deal (even adding the 20 quid postage it costs to get them sent over here)!
  7. You are now, but only after the basic flaw in your argument was exposed with nothing more than a bag of salt and vinegar crisps. I am aware of football teams who do not 'build their budget *around*' TV income, which is the point you raised. Treating it differently is a new argument you have introduced to try and cover the fallacy of your initial point. I think I need another bag of crisps.
  8. I was pointing out that 'building a budget *around* something' is not the same thing as *accounting* for something in a budget. You either knew that, or you really are as clueless about business as your other financial related posts suggest. I remember you trying to claim that Pat Nevin's role at Motherwell was equivalent to Fred Goodwin's role at RBS, so my (budgeted) money is on the latter.
  9. No. For example, I'm eating a bag of salt and vinegar crisps right now that were in my budget. However, I did not build my weekly, monthly or annual budget around it.
  10. I think the most likely reason is that, as an SPL Board Member, he wasn't consulted before the SFA/SPL/SFL proposal document was circulated.
  11. Had a crazy 80hr work week last week, and didn't pick up on the fact that the closing date for the ballot was Fri. So I take some responsibility for not contacting the Society in time, but a poor show that I never heard from them. Now things at work are less crazy I shot them an email today, but haven't heard back yet. They didn't send me my MFC TV code without prompting from me, so for some reason I seem to have slipped off their radar. Hopefully they will sort it out this time.
  12. The money is mental if you make it to the group stage though. I read this on UEFA site for the 2010/2011 competition. You keep your gate receipts on top of all that plus your distribution of telly revenue. Tasty.
  13. I'm one of the ones that didn't vote. Still waiting on my ballot information. Received nothing via email or regular post. I'll bet I'm not the only one that was overlooked.
  14. It's all a bit suspiscious, but I'm hoping it's because either they know now that there won't be a vote tomorrow (because it's a foregone conclusion) or because today's discussions with SFL/SFA etc. mean it won't be yes/no but voting on other proposals.
  15. I don't believe you believe SPL results are fixed, so it's a pointless question.
  16. No. there is no match fixing, bribing of referees, mafia betting scams etc. As bad as this situation is, the one thing we can rely on is that a match result is genuine (which is quite an important detail).
  17. Apart from one minor detail* I agree with the the majority of Green's ideas such as voting reform and more equal distribtion of revenues. So let's push ahead with them. * the one detail being newco allowed to play in the SPL which I'm sure we can exclude from the package.
  18. Or he is pissed off that the SPL made their 'offer' to the SFL without the board being involved. Or, he really doesn't have time to commit to the fallout after the No vote is confirmed. etc. etc.
  19. It's not really apples and oranges. The amounts may be different, but there is nothing to prevent the SPL from distributing the TV revenue on an more equal basis. The price of German football may not be directly available to the SPL or the SFA, but their financial model is one that should be copied across all European countries. IT would certainly have prevented the Rangers debacle. Again - it's not amount the amounts involved, it's about the financial models that have been adopted. The money carve up was only a small part of it. It was just the normal negotiations when the players' union collective bargaining agreement expired and had to be renegotiated. Most of the financials were agreed, there was just some dispute over one slice of the $20 billion.
  20. The NFL and MLB over here do exactly that (albeit through slightly different mechanisms). Not because they are pinko liberal commies, but because the owners realised that by keeping teams closer to parity the increased competitiveness of the leagues brings in more spectators, which results in more tv coverage and sponsorship which results in even more money to share between the teams. TV alone is worth more than $20 billion to the NFL teams.
  21. I think I'd better give the auditors a bell, then, and ask then to put the count on hold until I hear from the Society.
  22. No email either, which doesn't surprise me as they didn't send me my MFC TV code without my prompting.
  23. In future, you'll just need to stick to the regular '.com' porno sites and leave the '.xxx' ones alone.
  24. I'm still waiting on my ballot papers. Hope a better system is put in place for overseas members before the next key vote.
