My concern this season is what we will do if Law is suspended/injured later in the campaign. He is the creative spark we needed in the midfield and we don't have much in the way of backup in that position. Hughes would be a good man to have to add that extra option, and cover for such a situation. I imagine he'll be receiving more lucrative offers, though and would be surprised if he did sign for us - unless he takes a short term deal to put himself in the shop window.

From what I read, Celtic offered Faddy a trial only while other teams, including Everton, had contracts on the table. So, quite rightly, Faddy accepted a firm offer. The cynic in me thinks Celtic made the trial offer just before their AGM knowing full well he would never take them up on it.

I think the highlight for me, as McCall touched on in his interview yesterday, is that we kicked off the with the core of the team intact from the prior year. I was a little worried we might lose a few of our key guys, but with a straight swap for Sutton and Law adding a bit of creativity to the mid, we really hit the ground running. And that is due in large part to having a settled starting 11. Even when we haven't been at our best, they are all out there playing for each other and, equally importantly, have confidence in each others abilities to get the job done.

I'll definitely be signing up. Even without live video streaming to start with, I'm happy to support the efforts made to get things up and running (at last!) Looking forward to see what is on offer on Day 1.

It's unusual for a player with his type of injuries to ever reach the same level again. However, he does have the advantage that he never had to rely on speed for his success, so if he stays clear of more problems, I don't see why he couldn't do a job for a team like Everton. Having watched them yesterday, they are crying out for a player with a bit of craft and imagination.

That's the one. Hibs recent teams always seem to have attacking players that cause us problems. Riordan and Stokes gave me the fear every time they got the ball, and O'Connor is another one in that mould. For all his ass-hattery off the field, he is a quality striker. Having said that, we should be capable of scoring a couple as well, so I'm going for a 2 - 2 in this one.
