  1. Excellent. So we can still expect your weekly predictions of miserable defeats this season then?
  2. You mean the chaos caused by all the fans who didn't manage to get a Cup Final ticket?
  3. I really doubt that new facilities are going to attract more people back to the game. The 2 deciding factors are price and product on the park. I would much rather watch Falkirk v Motherwell for a tenner (standing) at the old Brockville than Motherwell v St. Mirren for 20+ quid in a wee plastic seat at the 'New Ravenscraig'.
  4. I seem to remember McCall was rating him as a million pound player. With the number of years left on his contract, U-21 Scotland Status and Europa Cup experience, he must be worth that to someone. Be happier to keep him for one more season though.

If he is setting up 30 goals a season, he can sit on a deckchair in the centre circle for all I care. There is more to a balanced team than 'getting stuck in'.
  6. The clubs could take current sponsorship money and TV money and use it to help lower the existing prices. All that would need to happen is to cut player's salaries.
  7. If you're not savvy enough to invest say, 126 million, well enough to support your family, then I don't want you anywhere near the running of my club. You're right; it is a business and some business nous is definitely a job requirement. Oh, and as we are discussing a 166 million lottery win, I think it's safe to say we are dealing in hypotheticals.
  8. Of course you will get more noise if there is 52000 inside the ground rather than 4000. However, I guarantee that if 26000 of those people were allowed to stand, they would generate *more* noise.
  9. In this economic climate, I'd find a struggling builder to cut me a deal on some renovation work and stay put.
  10. If we sell Fir Park, we won't have sufficient funds to build a new stadium. How will we finance those extras? Answer - it's more likely that we will be renting space from the council. A big step backwards in my view.
  11. Terracing makes a stadium. It's no coincidence that the noise levels began to fall as soon as the wee plastic seats were introduced.
  12. A few random reasons off the top of my head a) we see Fir Park as being an integral part of the club's history and spent many happy years there b) we have seen the lego/flatpack stadiums built elsewhere and think they are crap c) we know that selling the land Fir Park is built on is likely to leave us a few million short of funding a new ground Have you seen a business plan, because right now I don't see where the financial security would come from. Only more debt. Once I see the new stadium plans, and the financial projections, I might start supporting it. Right now, all I can see is a crap ground with tiny plastic seats, no elbow room and, possibly, plastic grass.
  13. Nobody has said he is leaving, only that he is likely to go if a decent offer comes in because we need to sell while we can get most money for him. He is obviously being watched by scouts from down south, but I doubt EPL teams will stop signing players just because they are about start touring. The window doesn't close for weeks yet, so plenty of time for deals to be struck.
  14. No way Murphy leaves on a loan. Just not how our club operates.
  15. Need someone to actually make a bid for him first, though.
  16. I'll be pleasantly surprised if we get another season (or half season) from Murphy. I'm assuming, though, that McCall has targets in mind should that happen. As long as we don't let him go in the last hour before the window closes, of course.
  17. You would say that though, "postie" Jim, even if it hadn't arrived
  18. Straying off topic, but I just hope we don't have to read "McCall, the former Rangers player.....", "McCall, the ex Bradford Gaffer...." etc. on every official site report this season. I lost count of how many times that happened last season. It's bad enough in the media, we don't really need it on our club web site.
  19. I think it was just 'Flow trying to sound like a real journalist
  20. Saw this on the official site. Didn't realise the club was now reporting rumours about their own manager's potential signings!
  21. Ah, gotcha. In which case I already answered. Initially, at least, take over day to day running.
  22. I'd like about 100 million so I knew that losing my investment would be insignificant. 20 million. 10 million directly to the club and 10 million invested in a diverse portfolio that the club could draw on an as-needed basis (where 'as-needed' would be at my, as Chairman's, discretion). Not sure what you mean with this question If I won 166 mil, I'd maybe up my investment to 40 million or so and make the running of the club my full time job. I'd like to see Fir Park repaired rather than a move to a new ground. Investment in year-round training facilities. Look to sign players on 3 year contracts with, maybe, an increase in salary structure to bring in a few higher quality players (but nothing crazy). Continue to develop the youth teams' infrastructure. Continue to invest in local community programmes.
  23. 9000 seats is fine, but we'll need terracing for another 6000 or so for when we finally get the rules changed back As for the pitch, laying a new one won't guarantee that it holds up to the weather in winter. Remember Fir Park used to be like a bowling green until we built the new stands.
  24. No idea, but this article from April suggests that Spurs are at least open to the idea of letting him sign for another club. EDIT: fixed link
