Nah, the guy that did a 6000 mile round trip to watch us get gubbed in the CIS Final is a real fan. Trips to away games are just wee holidays

    Offside?

Has taking a pot-shot at a ref in a post-match interview every done any manager any good? I would imagine Brown has more influence and respect talking to officials behind the scenes than mouthing off to the media.
  3. Brown has been working within the game for years, seems to be friendly with everybody, and is smart enough to realise that making negative comments about refs in post-match interviews doesn't win him any favours. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he has a quiet word or two in private with the powers that be and, in light of his general support of the officials, is more likely to be taken seriously.
  4. Are you not supposed to post Twitter messages from your phone?
  5. The team didn't get to pick and choose, it was the SFA disciplinary committee that decided on the second game ban to take place on the 21st (at least, that's what it said in The Scotsman article I read here).
  6. Because he got an automatic one game suspension which he sat out against Rangers. The second game suspension for reaching the 18pt mark is to be served starting Nov 21 - so he'll miss the St. Johnstone game on the 27th.
  7. I like libraries, I don't like St. Mirren, I do like clapping, but not jumping. It's quite the conundrum.
  8. Well, off topic, but Murdoch doesn't hide his politics. He may use the various governments to help expand his media holdings, but he has never been shy about promoting his right wing, capitalistic, neo-con ideals. Governments are afraid of his perceived ability to sway elections with his populist press (although they seem to be more in awe of the Daily Mail these days), but the man's politics haven't wavered over the years. For all that, summer football has no place. 3pm Saturday kick-offs, terracing, and a fiver off the price would soon bump up the crowds. No Sky required.
  9. Man U vs Man City was dire. Not worth paying Murdoch's evil empire for that fare.
  10. I think Hay was in charge the first game of the season. I seem to remember we lost to Killie away, and he joked that he hated that experience so much we went on a long tear unbeaten.
  11. Magic. I always enjoyed the cold, midweek games. Just need to add standing with cup of hot Bovril, and it's a little bit of heaven.
  12. Obviously I haven't seen as many games live as most posters on here. However, from what I have seen, and what I have heard from my season-ticket holding family members, he does seem to be a shade better than Ruddy and, so far, less prone to the odd howler. The fact that he's on a contract, rather than on loan, makes it all the sweeter.
  13. Hibs defence is woeful. We saw that in our first game and could have been 4 up by half-time. They are still strong going forward, but not quite as effective without Stokes. I think we will shade this by the odd goal in five.
  14. It led to the clampdowns on standing at games, drinking at games, waving flags at games etc. There's no amount of Hugo Boss that will change that.
  15. Just glad to see the "Manager of the Month" jinx is still going strong
  16. I actually liked that strip. For me, it will always be associated with guys like Willie Irvine and Brian McLaughlin and visiting some of the old-school grounds like Starks Park, Firs Park, Brockville, Palmerston etc.

    Dario Quinn

That's one of the reasons some of the more progressive countries ignore competitive games for their youngsters and focus instead on developing skills.
  18. Depends what he means, because Boyle has long held a view that he can't afford transfer fees so needs to deal with loans/frees/Bosmans/out-of-contract players.
  19. Vividly. Bought a 'Well scarf from The Sportsmans' Emporium with some birthday money before the first game, and got my face on telly from the first game too. Was gutted after the defeat in the replay, but it was good training for the roller-coaster. On the bright side, the scarf has served me for many years. Not bad for a quid.
  20. Just a small section
  21. And, frustratingly, doesn't appear to realize what opportunities he has wasted. The guy has the ability to play at a high level, but hasn't quite worked out that you still need to work at the game, even when you have the talent.
  22. I remember. And we were daft enough to watch it after we got back in from the match!
  23. Of course we don't want Motherwell to lose. We just have difficulty seeing them win this particular game. That is based on our SPL record and, even more importantly, cup record against them. Without looking it up, do you know when was the last time we beat Rangers in a cup tie?
  24. As painful as some of those are, the ones I'd really like to delete are games like losing 1 - 0 at home to Berwick Rangers (who took time-wasting to a new level), or 0 - 0 at Boghead on a wet and windy Wednesday evening. Although the Airdrie semi wasn't fun.
