  1. Even the official site has got in on the act. The announcement leads with "Former Rangers and Scotland midfielder...." and the 3rd picture has the caption "The former Rangers midfielder poses for pictures". No mention of Bradford, Everton or Sheffield Utd. 'Flow must have been taking lessons from the Rancid
  2. Basically, his track record prior to joining us is the same as Big Tel's was before joining us - and he turned out OK.
  3. McCall has almost exactly the same win percentage at Bradford as Butcher did at Coventry/Sunderland before he joined us. There are far too many factors in lpay to assess whether he can be successful at Fir Park. There are plenty of folk on here that would never have believed Big Eck would turn into a decent Scotland manager and make a good job of it in the EPL. And who would have guessed Roberto Martinez would turn out to be an EPL gaffer?
  4. The new one comes up for me when I google it. Have you tried clearing your browser cache (or just refreshing the page when you see the old one?)
  5. I voted for all 3, just because it let me.

    Tonights Game

    Aye, unfortunately crystal clear
  7. Wheesht. I've already been told off for posting facts
  8. That's almost the exact same % of wins that Butcher had as Motherwell boss and only slightly worse than McGhee's 'Well record (and who had 40 wins from 139 games with Brighton before he joined us).
  9. Just saying OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO again and again doesn't make it scary.
  10. Atdhe.net has this posted: http://atdhe.net/31586/watch-celtic-vs-motherwell and a few more are listed here.
  11. I think we would have ended up bottom 6 this season with Brown, so finishing there with a new boss wouldn't rank as a disaster to me. Brown was a good 6 month appointment last season to bring a bit of stability, but should have been nowhere near the job this season.
  12. I think someone posted he had turned his ankle in training.
  13. So you don't think it's "potentially disastrous" now?
  14. At least your country is listed. 'United States' isn't even an option. I haven't worked out yet if it's due to good taste or racism
  15. According to the architects, reconstruction of Deepdale cost 26 million. Even half of that would likely be out of the question for us.
  16. Substitute Sunderland/Coventry for Bradford and you have Butcher's CV. He wasn't exactly setting the heather on fire with his managerial talent before he joined us.
  17. Spot on. I understand that you don't get the same feel for a game on the pitch as you do on the sideline, but guys like Craigan should be able to help re-organize the team on the fly and, at the very least, get the playesr motivated and in about the opposition.
  18. Well here is one contradiction. The official club statement read "Over the past couple of months it has become abundantly clear that the manager was not fully committed to the club and, despite our best efforts, he repeatedly refused to sign a contract." Brown wouldn't sign a contract either, but the board didn't see that as an issue.
  19. My argument still stands. Saying we punch above our weight is an insult to the team's ability as it's implying their skill level isn't sufficient to justify their league position.
  20. He still had more of a budget to spend when he was boss than he would see a second time around -both for wages on guys like Cooper, Russell etc. and on transfers. The reason he left, as I recall, was at least partially due to board not wishing to finance his plans to enhance the squad. Not a great indicator of someone who wants to work with no funds. I agree though - he won't be back.
  21. It doesn't annoy me, it's just factually incorrect. I doubt anyone could even explain what constitutes our 'weight', what constitutes our 'punches' and quantify the quality of those punches in such a way that makes us somehow lucky in beating what, by definition, must be consistently superior opponents. It just sounds like a label tossed around by some incompetent, OF loving tabloid journo.
  22. Tommy had a lot more money to spend back then than he'd be given this time around.
  23. Not saying that post is wrong because I know nothing about Penney, but I remember the Oldham fans telling us about how Porter was a crock with bad knees who wouldn't do much for us.
  24. You mean like McGhee (or even Brown) had from his time down south? I don't remember him bringing in the quality of player (using all his contacts) that Gannon introduced. It was widely reported that when JG interviewed for the Hibs job that he had a list of 30 or so targets for every single position on the field. Not 2 or 3. Targets he had watched develop since they were playing in the the youth leagues, and targets with whom he had developed a good footballing relationship. More importantly, when he said he was going to acquire a striker or a keeper or whatever within the next few days, that is exactly what he did. I'm still waiting (along with Aberdeen fans) to see McGhee's big powerful centre half he has been promising.
