  1. Are you sure you never had a problem with him joining? I thought I remembered a few, less than happy, comments at the time Just saying, like
  2. Is our deal with Ruddy not something along the lines of a loan with the option to buy?
  3. Is Porter still out injured? I haven't seen him mentioned for a while.
  4. If we had Porter, though, I think JG might be more inclined to go 4-4-2 (or 4-4-1-1 or 3-1-4-2 or whatever )
  5. If we had the choice, I'd have Porter back. He was a natural finisher - moreso than Clarky, I think. Although Clarky contributed more with his work rate.
  6. Growing up in Hamilton, it's always been Accies for me. I have a lot of mates who are Accies fans so there was always a great build-up to the derby games. Even when we weren't in the same league there was still plenty of banter. I know zero Airdrie fans, so there was never the same build-up to those games. We have never been in the same league as Airdire Utd., so even if I still thought of them as a 'real' Airdrie team (which I don't) there hasn't been a chance to build a rivalry.
  7. Well it proved we can't beat a shit team, at home, with a pen in the last 5 mins. That's why those 2 keep winning the league. Because they sneak points in games like that.

Or if Ruddy hadn't pulled off a triple save after we scored today etc. etc. It's easy to find times when we missed a chance to turn the game in our favour, but there have been a number where the result could also have turned against us. St. Johnstone could have scored when it was 2-2, Killie could have pulled themselves back into the game when Kyle missed an easy header. So it cuts both ways.
  9. Even if you are doing it you'll get howked if JG thinks he needs to change the formation.
  10. Another striker. Good stuff.
  11. Eh? Your ticket and programme are included in that twenty. And your dessert. And your half time pie and cake.
  12. Cheers. And thanks for taking it on again this year.
  13. They have significant sources of income outside of ticket revenues.
  14. Not quite as observant as I thought (from today's Herald) We didn't 'get in their faces' on Saturday, we passed them off the park.
  15. I think you're right. When we discussed this last season I said that we could make it free entry at Fir Park and we still wouldn't fill the place most weeks. Teams like ourselves need ticket money to survive (thanks to the unfair allocation of TV money). If we halved prices, there is no way we would double the crowds. However, there is probably a price point where we could encourage a few more punters in and still make a profit - especially if you factor in the extra cash they would spend in programmes, bovril, pies, pints in the Cooper etc. It's also great PR to reduce prices in the current financial climate. Especially for kids. I'd be all in favour of letting all kids in for a fiver (or even free at some games) until people have a few more quid to spend. Every other business out there is cutting their prices, and football should be no different.
  16. I would have guessed at about 9,500 before today, so I wasn't very surprised. The hard core support remains fairly constant, and neutrals are less likely to fork out extra and go through the hassles of having to buy a ticket. Of course, I'd like to see more 'Well fans turn out, but charging them extra when the game is on telly isn't the way to do it. The NFL has the right idea. They allow every game to be shown live nationwide, but if a team hasn't sold out their stadium, the television broadcast is blacked out within a 90 mile radius.
  17. Well, like I said in another thread, lots of people have regular commitments on a Saturday morning such as work, sports teams, golf games or whatever. Or, they have kids with similar commitments that they need to bus around. That makes it very difficult to get out to Fir Park for a 12:15 kick off. While you may not have been affected by the current financial crisis, you may have noticed businesses all across the board are closing down or having big sales because people don't have money to spend. Football is one of the few businesses so short sighted that they would actually increase their prices. If you have a couple of kids to bring along, that soon starts pricing you out of games like this. The fact that your kids are likely to be subject to the sectarian bile is just an extra disincentive over and above the cost.
  18. Games that don't kick off at 12:15pm. Not having to pay extra just because the OF are in town. Not having to put up with sectarian bigots chanting obscenaties at their kids for a couple of hours. That's just 3 things off the top of my head.
  19. I think you have to give Smith some credit. He's a decent tactician too and made some adjustments in the second half that stifled us a bit. Gannon mentioned that is his post match interview too where he felt they both cancelled each other out a bit in the second half.
  20. Maybe he's looking for a job.

    Should have tried this approach.
  22. It's never a bad thing to have players who want to take a pen at such a key moment in a game. I'm still not convinced it was a great effort, but these things happen. I'm happy to see O'Brien have the confidence and take responsibility like that.
  23. What was the 'next to no reason' for being turfed out?

    Penalty

It wasn't awful, but at that height and speed, if the keeper guesses right he will save it almost every time. Forbes pen was much better. Keeper guessed right, but still couldn't reach it.
  25. I'm sure it's not the only reason, but I imagine a significant number of supporters have commitments on a Saturday morning that make it difficult/impossible to be there for 12:15pm. Whether its having to work Saturday morning, a regular Saturday morning football/rugby/golf game (or kids with a regular Saturday morning activity) etc. - getting home and back out before noon won't be easy.
