    Loan Deals

Everton paid 250k for Ruddy over 4 years ago and he has played for them exactly once. I can't believe they would want 1 million for him now.

    Slane & O'brien

Straying off topic here, but the Bosman case went too far in my opinion. His club undoubtedly abused their power by refusing to release him even though he was out of contract. For me, however, the common sense solution would have been to use what was already in place i.e. an arbitration panel. So if you were out of a contract and two clubs couldn't agree on a fee then the player *must* be allowed to leave, and the fee is decided in arbitration. That way, the players still get to leave at the end of their contract and the clubs still generate revenue from transfer fees, albeit they would undoubtedly be less inflated (which might actually be a good thing).

    Loan Deals

According to toffeeeweb, Ruddy's initial contract expired in June 2009. It has no details of his current deal, however, so it's not clear where he stands this season. However, you would have to think that if we negotiated the loan with a right-to-buy clause, there must be some chance of signing the guy otherwise we'd just have made it a regular loan.

To be fair, from JG's post-match comments, it appears the game plan he had in mind wasn't the one the players implemented on the pitch. To what degree, of course, we'll never know. It's not surprising, however, that with all the different formations and tactics for the players to learn, there will be weeks when it doesn't gel. Hopefully, that will happen less often as the season progresses. Like all managers and teams, the sign of progress is how well they bounce back.
  5. We'll score in the first 10 minutes then keep the crowd on the edge of their seats by not scoring our second until the 85th minute. 2 - 0, final.

    Slane & O'brien

I don't think people were saying that. What has been said is that we can't stop him leaving and, like every other time a good player has left, we'll just get on with it.

    Fair Play

This one is pretty good. It shows that we are the most fouled against team by quite some distance.

    Slane & O'brien

Aye, to be honest, I don't really worry that much about players moving on. Every club has to deal with that issue from East Stirling to Real Madrid. A lot of people on here didn't rate O'Brien when he joined us, but we managed to turn him into a decent player. I'm sure JG knows of others out there who we can develop in a similar vein.

I don't believe the club offered Slane 200 p/w. That's just over 10 grand a year; I know we don't throw money around, but that just doesn't add up. Regardless, if any player is out of contract soon and is not going to re-sign, they should be dropped now in favour of someone who wants to play for the club.
  10. There is nothing more pathetic than fans that dish it out during a game then fake outrage when the player gives them some back. Let the ref sort it out, and don't be acting like a wean throwing toys (or Mars Bars) oot the pram.

Not pleased that we lost, but hopefully it will be a wee reality check. With a team of youngsters there is going to be inconsistency along the way. I said at the start of the season that finishing 8th or 9th, but with a solid platform for the following season, would a good achievement given the rebuilding that was required. We shouldn't be getting too carried away when with our good start, and we shouldn't be getting too upset when we turn in a poor performance here and there. We're only 6 games into the season and sitting mid-table. When the fixture list was published, I'd have been more than happy to have taken 9 points at this stage. The team is in the early days of a complete makeover. You can guarantee there will be plenty of games where we excel and plenty that will disappoint as the season continues. It's still very much a work in progress, and if we win next week we'll have taken 6 points from 3 tricky games. This always had the look of a difficult match, and Hibs were going to be even more up for it after their miserable Cup performance. Unfortunately, I can sense that some fans are already sharpening the knives.

Sounds like Hibs went 4-2-4 to mess with our heads.

You can get the full game with a decent proxy.
  14. If he was, I think it would have been plastered over the 'fishul site, programme and Daily Rancid by now.
  15. Everybody knows by now that if you stand up you run the risk of getting lifted. I was always against the all-seated stadia and no-standing regulations, and would welcome back a section of terracing. However, I also know that until that happens, I stand at my own risk. I don't condone any heavy handed tactics by the stewards or the polis. If that happens a formal complaint should be made to the club and the authorities. It seems like every other week, however, that people are posting how surprised they are someone got chucked out for standing. If you want to try and change things, there are more constructive (and likely more successful) ways to tackle it.
  16. Did you think about reporting what you saw?
  17. No idea what you mean there *cough* Calum Elliot *cough*
  18. Stop the game and wait for everybody to sit back down.

    Signing #6

Not only that, but he says he was gutted about being taken off as he really wanted to take one of the pens. That sounds like a pretty positive attitude to me
  20. Only because I think last season is a better indicator, the season before is less so and prior to that becomes statistically insignificant for all practical purposes. Of course. That's why I said "circumstances are different" I do believe, though, that it will be a hard game thanks mainly to Riordan and Stokes (who seems to have found his scoring boots again, unfortunately).

The number of shots on target was encouraging too.
  22. Is that you agreeing or disagreeing? (Sorry for resorting to facts there, to back up my point of view, btw )
  23. 2007 - 2008: Falkirk 1 - 0 Motherwell Motherwell 0 - 3 Falkirk Falkirk 0 - 0 Motherwell 2008 - 2009: Motherwell 3 - 2 Falkirk Falkirk 1 - 0 Motherwell Motherwell 1 - 1 Falkirk Falkirk 2 - 1 Motherwell So in the last 2 seasons we have collected a grand total of 5 points from a possible 21 against a team managed by John Hughes. Different circumstances this time, of course, but we don't have a stellar record here.

I don't think there is much bitterness about Foran. Some of just think he was a bit overrated. Take away his penalties and he wasn't exactly a prolific scorer. An average player in an average team. Getting 150k for him was a cracking piece of business.
