  1. The main thing about Efford is he's a winger, not a striker. First and foremost we need a number 9. The more other players can chip in with goals, the better it is, but the line needs to be lead by a number 9. (Now just waiting for the false nine explainers chipping in).
  2. It's difficult to predict who will do well in the striker position. Before he joined us KVV himself didn't exactly have the stats in England that would predict a 29 goal season.
  3. I'm speculating, but maybe they thought that logo was more visible on telly, cameras etc. Looks like they will be the shirt sponsor for Dundee Utd too, so maybe they wanted a logo that worked on both jerseys. Whatever the reason, I like it better than Hibs bevvy.com effort with the QR code.
  4. If we have a creative midfielder that can make a pass, I don't care if they sit down and light up in the middle of the centre circle when the times are tough. That's why you also sign midfielders with good engines that can tackle. You tend to get more tough times more often if you don't have at least one passer in the team.
  5. I can even live with the sponsor on the front. My only niggle is I'm not a fan of having a sponsor below the hoop on the back. I don't mind across the shoulders. Also delighted we've avoided the "lets print some 1970's curtains into the fabric" trend.
  6. After leaving County and dealing with his legal issues I don't think Paton had kicked a ball for at least 6 months before he joined us; never mind done any training. A better time to judge will be once he has a pre-season behind him.
  7. A I said, underrated. He was the captain of the Man Utd Academy team and even played for the Man U reserves. You don't make it that far at Old Trafford if you don't have the basics. They're not exactly short of options. His play was old-school at times, but if you have the right balance in midfield that can be an asset.
  8. I like Grimmy and thought he was sometimes underrated at Fir Park - partly because we played him at right back so often when he operates better as a traditional midfielder. I think he's a great fit for a team like Utd pushing for a quick return to the Premiership.
  9. They'll be hoping he doubles his career goal tally.
  10. I think it's class that's permanent.
  11. Also, KVV scored 2 more league goals in his last 11 games than Moult has scored since he left us mid 2017/18 season. Sadly, due to his injury situation, I don't think he has much left to offer.
  12. He's Jonesing for a new deal.
  13. I was interested to see Nicky Devlin move to Aberdeen. I remember when he was at Dumbarton he was being touted as the "next big thing" and we were excited to sign him. Then after that he was just farmed out on loan to lower league clubs until he signed for Stenhousemuir. In his most recent stint at Livi I can't say he's ever stood out to me as being anything other than decent, so was a bit surprised that Abedeen went for him - even with the defensive issues they've had in the past season or two.
  14. 10 weeks until the window "slams shut" I know clubs like to get their business done sooner rather than later, but players and agents often have a different perspecitve. I imagine, like most seasons, we will still be conducting business after the league season starts.
  15. Not a bad move for Murphy, but from what I saw during the season (and the playoffs) it's defenders that Ayr Utd need to be signing!
  16. The EFL went through massive debt problems when the ITV Digital deal collapsed. Lots of clubs who spent the promised cash ahead of time went into administration (or worse). 21 years later, they are back to throwing money at clubs in the National League in the hopes of EPL riches, and Harrogate are one of those hoping to work their way up the ladder. Sooner or later the bubble will burst again, but until it does there will always be lower league clubs that can outspend us.
  17. Was just about to post Gascoigne isn't even the best Rangers player I've seen. He was a fantastic player, of course, but Cooper at his peak would edge it for me.
  18. steelboy needs one or two random players to call "utter shite" every season. He peaked when it was Higdon that was in his sights when he also accused him of being fat.
  19. Between Carson, Randolph, Gillespie and Kelly it would be Randolph who shades it for me. Very happy, however, that they all played for us and there is no way I'd be looking to punt Kelly.
  20. He's exactly as good as I think, but I l do love a good wages rumour. Especially one that uses hard figures like "too much".
  21. My only minor niggle with Nevin is, at least up until now, he has never seemed to take any blame for the mistakes that happened under his watch. Be interested to hear if his book is any different in that regard. Actually, I lied. My other niggle is the night he played a major part in defeating us 4 - 3 at FIr Park in a cup game when he was making his name as a youngster at Clyde.
  22. I suspect the deadline for responding to contract negotiations will be strictly enforced - unless the player is one we really really want and then we will be more flexible for a few weeks. Our league safety wasn't secured until quite late this season, so some of the offers probably came late in the day compared to recent years.
  23. He said it would take life changing money for a Scottish club to afford him. That was basically saying, as he's under contract, we would want silly money to sell him to a league rival, but would ask for less if he was being sold outside the country.
  24. I thought he played seasons in both, but you could be right. He did score quite a few cup goals too, though, including their League Cup final appearance and their Scottish Cup victory.
  25. When he was at Hibs his record was 21 goals in 42 games, 25 goals in 49 games and 23 goals in 41 games. Seems the Premiership made him look a good player too.
