  1. Hibs defence is woeful. We saw that in our first game and could have been 4 up by half-time. They are still strong going forward, but not quite as effective without Stokes. I think we will shade this by the odd goal in five.
  2. It led to the clampdowns on standing at games, drinking at games, waving flags at games etc. There's no amount of Hugo Boss that will change that.
  3. Just glad to see the "Manager of the Month" jinx is still going strong
  4. I actually liked that strip. For me, it will always be associated with guys like Willie Irvine and Brian McLaughlin and visiting some of the old-school grounds like Starks Park, Firs Park, Brockville, Palmerston etc.

That's one of the reasons some of the more progressive countries ignore competitive games for their youngsters and focus instead on developing skills.
  6. Depends what he means, because Boyle has long held a view that he can't afford transfer fees so needs to deal with loans/frees/Bosmans/out-of-contract players.
  7. Vividly. Bought a 'Well scarf from The Sportsmans' Emporium with some birthday money before the first game, and got my face on telly from the first game too. Was gutted after the defeat in the replay, but it was good training for the roller-coaster. On the bright side, the scarf has served me for many years. Not bad for a quid.
  8. Just a small section
  9. And, frustratingly, doesn't appear to realize what opportunities he has wasted. The guy has the ability to play at a high level, but hasn't quite worked out that you still need to work at the game, even when you have the talent.
  10. I remember. And we were daft enough to watch it after we got back in from the match!
  11. Of course we don't want Motherwell to lose. We just have difficulty seeing them win this particular game. That is based on our SPL record and, even more importantly, cup record against them. Without looking it up, do you know when was the last time we beat Rangers in a cup tie?
  12. As painful as some of those are, the ones I'd really like to delete are games like losing 1 - 0 at home to Berwick Rangers (who took time-wasting to a new level), or 0 - 0 at Boghead on a wet and windy Wednesday evening. Although the Airdrie semi wasn't fun.
  13. In no particular order: McRae Pettigrew Wark McAllister Marinello
  14. I hope you had a sneaky wee fiver on that.
  15. It's not "no team", it's specifically Motherwell. Our record against them has been nothing short of abysmal in recent memory. There is no logic to it, except perhaps, we have difficulty dealing with their particular style of play. The last game at Ibrox is a perfect example - play decent for long stretches and still conspire to lose 4 goals.
  16. Or they could just estimate the shortfall the same way as they can do if they think someone who earns a lot of tips is cheating them. No counting required...tit.
  17. And the taxman obviously hasn't heard that everybody does it, so just lets everybody get away with it.
  18. Yes. That's why I wrote what I wrote.
  19. Anyone except Rangers, unfortunately.
  20. Read one of the Accies players saying they need to 'get in our faces'. That will suit us fine, and help us to a 3-1 win. If they change their tactics and decide to stick 10 men across the penalty box, then we will toil to a 0-0.
  21. Quote from Gow in The Scotsman today: Which sounds promising - finances permitting, of course.
  22. I can just about deal with that. It's the losing Cup Finalists possibly getting a place that is the worst idea for me.
  23. Agreed. For a team with their away record over the past 17 months, to beat them twice in consecutive games is a good showing.
  24. I was only listening to commentary yesterday and it sounded like Gow was doing well. Unfortunately, however, it doesn't surprise me that he was taking abuse. As long as I have been going to Fir Park, there has been a fairly significant section of support that has been of the mindset that you need to be box-to-box and tackling like Psycho to be of any value. Guys like McLair and McAllister used to take similar pelters quite regularly.
