  1. Like all goods, if the top isn't "of merchantable quality" or "fit for purpose" then consumer law means you have the right to get a replacement. If that isn't possible, then you can get your money back. Of course, getting your money back doesn't compensate for the disappointment of not having the top, but at least you won't be out of pocket.
  2. It's for the people that spent 3 years complaining that this kind of information was never communicated.
  3. It will be an interesting "summer football" experiment.
  4. That was an away game though (and in Inverurie in the middle of winter).

Boothroyd, Gannon, Steve Staunton and Laurie Sanchez.
  6. Don't trust this man. He'll have spent all his money on blow and hookers by now !!! Jut kidding, I'd vouch for the guy.
  7. Didn't realise there would be a quiz at the end or I would have studied last night instead of drinking. I understand Bristol City will see their friends over the Severn Bridge as evil rivals. However, they currently have a better footballing team. Clarky, like McCormack before him is only looking for one or two years at a club before either proving himself worthy of a step up to a better team, or coming back home. He won't care about the long term stability of team. As for Bristol City, as you say, they were 90 minutes from the Prem in 2007/08 and failed to make it. I know how difficult it is to get out of that league having followed it closely for many years. My guess is that they peaked that year, and are now headed for mid-table mediocrity for the next 2 or 3 seasons at least and the chairman will want to start seeing a return on his money (= selling players). Mostly, though, I think they are on the decline because the were stuffed 6 -0 by a very poor Ipswich team last season.
  8. With Setanta going pear shaped north and south of the border, I think there will be plenty of players available for no transfer fee.

3 interviews are absolutely needed. And I hope the other 2 or 3 names on the shortlist were afforded the same courtesy. This is like hiring a CEO for your company and you need to be 100% sure you are getting the right man. Otherwise you are stuck with a duffer who has a contract too expensive to pay off if you sack him. At my company it typically takes 4 weeks - 3 months to fill a position. 2 weeks would be regarded as incredibly fast.

Not if we get relegated, no. Short term-ism is a big danger to all clubs at the moment. We need to get a squad in place and push for a top 6 place. That will be much more beneficial in the long run.

For me, the league is much more important this year than getting papped oot of the Europa in the 3rd qualifying round.

I don't see how we could have appointed somebody any quicker. It's an unfortunate set of circumstances, but as entertaining as a wee Euro trip is, as long as we get some semblance of a squad in place before the league kicks off, I'll be happy. If nothing else, the Europa is a bonus which may have helped attract the calibre of managerial applicants that we did. If that's all it turns out to be, then it was still worth it. Playing competitive games so early in the season is the reason a majority of clubs had no interest in the Inter Toto.

So what's the deal? We have a new manager on board, so we need to panic about something else now?

Or not wanting to go any place near a tackle in case they get injured before the Europa tie.

Presumably, if there is a clause like that, it remains the board's decision on who to sell rather than leaving it to the manager.
  16. I know what you mean, but as far as I can tell, we haven't sold a single player yet.
  17. Thanks for info. The pitch has had a major overhaul - which is another reason we have less budget to play with for the upcoming season. From what you say, and what I have read, he could be an ideal fit for our club. I liked the idea of the 5 year plan he put in place at Stockport. That's the sort of planning we will be needing. Sorry about the plight your club finds itself in. Everybody on here knows the pain of administration. Hopefully you will be able to turn it around with the same success we did.
  18. How did an undisclosed fee suddenly turn into 600k? And what are the add-ons for first team appearances, international appearances, sell-ons etc.? Or is all this high finance just the usual rumour mill at work?
  19. Excellent news if true. Hope all the contract negotiations go smoothly. When I heard his name being touted on here early in the process I didn't think we had a chance of securing his services. He seems to be a hot property down south.
  20. What he said. It's not quite comparable, but I'm one of the members of the MyFootballClub experiment i.e. Ebbsfleet Utd. We have been through a similar problem during the summer. A number of players contracts expired, the Setanta money has gone and budgets have needed to be slashed. In order to raise the weekly salary budget from 4 grand a week to 7 grand we just had to sell our two best players. Now we are relying on the manager to bring in some fresh talent to try and rebuild. It certainly gives you an insight into the issues that need to be addressed in the current financial climate.
  21. You're joking, mate. If he is married *and* they have a kid, he's getting nane
  22. Commonplace in "Brizzl" I believe. However, I lived further north in Cirencester and Stroud where the village pubs are all 300 years old, have roaring log fires in the winter and serve real ale that gets you severely drunk, but without the hangover.
  23. I'm glad he's taking my advice from another thread Bristol is not the club for a guy like Clarky - they are on the start of a decline. Although, on the plus side, it's a great part of the country to live in. I was a few miles further north of there for six and a half years, and the pubs are the best in the country.
  24. Unfortunately, I can see Faddy having to retire from injury before his career reaches the 'return to Fir Park' stage. He just can't seem to keep himself fit these days.
