  1. I'm with you Eddie. He took over Telstar in 2005. I'm not sure when he left, but the club's league position since then has been: 2005/06 - 16th 2006/07 - 10th 2007/08 - 14th 2008/09 - 17th LIke I said in an earlier post, the hard stats are none too impressive. He would obviously come in on good terms with the fans, and might be successful with a passing game, but it sounds risky to me.
  2. For all the mistakes JB has made over the years, it seems that he at least learns from some of them. After pumping a load of cash into the club and spending it in the wrong places, for example, he has managed to get the finances on an even keel. Similarly, with managers. He has tried a few approaches and his biggest mistake was Malpas (although there was some logic to that too). Credit to JB that for his next appointment he brought in experience with McGhee and had a lot more success. I'd be surprised if he didn't try to build on that approach and look forward to seeing the real shortlist when it's eventually leaked to the press! On a complete tangent, whatever happened to the Scottish press referring to a 'short leet' of managerial candidates? That was always the preferred phrase when I was a lad
  3. Actually, there was an interview with Brown in one of the papers recently where he said he'd be happy to come out of retirement.
  4. Read this in The Guardian today: I wonder if the Scottish footballing authorites were smart enough to insist on the shareholder guarantees.
  5. There are more decent managers than there are jobs. Of course there are also more bad managers than there are jobs. As long as we go for one of the decent ones, I don't really care who it is. It's that simple
  6. I wouldn't dismiss Nijholt out of hand, but according to Wiki, if you look at Telstar's league stats during his reign they are, at best, less than average.
  7. That made me laugh when I read it in the Evening Times today. Still, at least he didn't blame it on trauma from poor refereeing decisions.
  8. Porter would never get a pass from the other 3
  9. The Daily Mail, however, is just P&B for fascists.
  10. So you have seen a signed contract and the counter offer Burnley have made to him? Or are you just working off the BBC news story, Scotsman news story and Herald news story from earlier that says he will likely be unveiled as manager by Friday?
  11. Not even first on this board mate.
  12. I'd be up for it again next season. It's a cheap way to sponsor a player and a chance to get your hands on a shirt.

Aye, sorry. I was really responding to Neil's comment: I don't think the fans input will have much influence on a decision like this, but no harm in throwing it out there.

I think a poll is irrelevant. We will end up at a ground based on who is willing to accommodate us, cost and who has a UEFA certificate.

    Orange? That's amber ya heathen!
  16. If we lose Smith and Hughes, promote a couple of our youngsters and bring in 2 new players we will be in decent shape for a top 6 challenge.
  17. When Malpas left, Gary Mac said he wasn't interested in managing a team with resources as limited as ours. Considering we will likely have less now than we had then (thanks to the new pitch), I doubt he would be interested.
  18. I saw McGhee quoted as having an "agreement" with Boyle about these things. I would guess part of his improved deal included being able to talk to certain teams about job openings should the opportunity arise.
  19. I really don't care if a manager is a "Motherwell man". McLean and McGhee weren't and have, for me, done well. Davie Hay was another guy who did a good job and Butcher managed our time going through administration exceptionally well. If we do need a new boss, give me someone with a good CV any day of the week.
  20. I thought Sheridan has made a decent contribution in his last few games, and that is what I'd expect from a youngster joining a new team i.e. improvement after he has been around his new team mates for a while. If he continued that improvement, I'd be happy to see him back next season.
  21. If the Hearts fans have a decent turn out, and don't turn their backs on the game, then the sponsors will not be crawling back anywhere near Fir Park for next year.
  22. Or they might have the day off.
  23. Paul Lambert. You heard it hear first
  24. And finish above you in the league (again).
