  1. Not really. McLean played for Scotland U-17s which is why things got screwed up when he later switched to (or tried to switch to) NI. Not that a really buy into all this "traitor" rubbish. If you want to play for a country and you are eligible, then fair enough. It's the eligibility requirements that need to be changed, but that's for another thread.
  2. He didn't *need* it any more than a CEO pulling in a few million quid a year needs an interest free loan from his employers to buy a house. It's just a perk in the overall salary package.

Nice one. A bit of a rare Joe Wark effort there too.

I think if you have lived in the country for a couple of years, you will speak decent English. A lot of Eastern Europeans learn English at school too (although it tends to be American English).
  5. Cheers. We'll forgive the lack of sound this week EDIT: No accusations of being over-elaborate in front of the goal today. Regardless of the Utd defensive lapses, those were all nice passing moves into the danger areas and first class finishes.
  6. You're in Vegas, and wasting time reading this board. Come tae grips and get yourself back out there!
  7. First Motherwell game I ever went to at Fir Park was a 4 - 0 victory against Dundee Utd.
  8. The sponsors don't control the TV shots. However, if I was a sponsor, I wouldn't be too pleased if the spectators were seen to be dissing my event. Remember, from their perspective, it's all about promoting their product in as positive a light as possible. Of course, it might be nothing to do with the decision. Maybe they do really want to give other teams a chance.
  9. And Aberdeen gone 4-2 up. It's snowing goals.
  10. This link is working. And, shhh, it's supposed to be UK Only. Fitzyyyyyyy!

I don't think Malcolm's wages account for all of it. We spent extra money to protect the pitch too.
  12. Maybe the sponsors and organisers didn't like the 'Well fans turning their backs on the OF games.

I doubt it. Take away his penalites in his last season with us and he didn't contribute that much. Not terrible, but I don't think he would add anything to the current squad.

I said this earlier in the thread, but it's worth saying again. Any club that gets involved in a business transaction with the current Hearts administration needs their collective heads examined. Hearts are in no financial position to pay any transfer fees (or worse, transfer fee installments) sell-on clauses or even win bonuses. If we do sell, it should be to someone a bit more stable.
  15. For player's under contract, not much (apart from counting up their 15%). That is the stupidity of the transfer window.
  16. Unfortunately, in this day and age, the players' agents spend most of the month playing clubs off against each other trying to get the best deal. That's why a lot of these transactions don't take place until the last day (and sometimes the last hour) of the window.
  17. Totally agree. Even my first move down to the south west of England was beneficial, and it does give you an entirely different perspective on life and, I think, makes you a lot more open to other people's culture and ideas. If Connolly had the chance to play overseas, I'd tell him to jump at the chance. Either way, good luck to the guy.
  18. You can't tell who is a legend until about 100 years after they are gone. If people are still talking about them, then they *might* be a legend. For me, Davie Cooper was a footballing legend who happened to play at Motherwell. Joe Wark, Wullie P and their ilk were Motherwell legends.
  19. And this is the problem. Even in the Cooper situation, there wasn't an "our side" to take. I read a number of postings on the old board that said they weren't opposed to the idea.
  20. Cheers, mate. I had managed to erase that memory.
  21. Unfortunately, Scottish footballers these days seem to get homesick if they move as far south as Lancashire. It's called "Ferguson/Maloney Syndrome".
  22. Nobody can represent the WHOLE support. You just need to read a couple of threads on here to see the many views exist on various subjects. The best that can be hoped is to represent a majority view; and even trying to establish what that might be sounds problematic.
  23. Any home tie against a non-OF team is a good draw. Let's just take care of business now in this round.
