  1. 3 points off bottom, 7 points off a European spot, 24 games left to play. Any board putting on pressure at this stage needs to replaced with people that know something about football.
  2. I agree these things always have to be put into context. When you put Brighton's finances into context, however, you can see how disastrous they have been. After they were promoted back to the EPL in 2017, Brighton managed to lose over £270 million in their first four seasons, putting them into the top 10 loss making clubs in Premiership history. They required a £427 million investment from chariman Tony Bloom to keep them afloat in tandem with a £37.3 million bank loan. It's not clear how much of that loss was invested in their youth development programme, but as part of their overall financial model it would be clearly unsustainable for a club like ourselves. Of course there are things we can do better, and like any business, we should be looking to improve every aspect year after year. Whether that's more data analytics, more aggressive contracts, different scouting methods or something else, it should all be reviewed on a regular basis and changes applied wherever needed.
  3. 1 year, according to the pedia that is wiki.
  4. Airdrie were wiped out of existence in 2002. In their current guise they are a renamed Clydebank that has basically nothing to do with our original local competition. I appreciate others might feel different about it, but for me newBankies don't even register as a rival.
  5. This was my point before VAR was introduced. If we have the same ref pool watching VAR it's inevitable the OF gets even more beneficial decsions. No way ourselves or Aberdeen would have been awarded those pens under identical circumstances. Also, if Celtic had been 1 - 0 up after 90, time added on would have been 2 mins. The more things change the more they stay the same. It's like the old saying in boxing. When you are fighting the home town favourite you need to knock them out to get a draw.
  6. We were lucky the Celtic VAR didn't decide to disallow his goal for blocking.
  7. Home to the The Spartans.
  8. Wasn't just a good goal Obika scored today, he did some great blocking to make his chance.
  9. I'd made my comment about the match in my MOTM thread. The rest of the time I was actually watching (and enjoying*) the game rather than posting about it. *Enjoy - to get pleasure from something
  10. You're going to make another, in-game, doom laden prediction that turns out to be wrong?
  11. I'm old enough to remember when we thought Butcher's return would help our defence. Make your choice...
  12. We could hire the guy that made the Cristiano Ronaldo bust
  13. I'd be surprised if KVV has another season in Scotland where he scores 10 league goals. If you look at his stats, last season was very much an outlier. I'd be happy to see him back, but I'm not sure he'd be happy to be back with fans expecting him to replicate that form. And if we provide the same level of service we've been providing Mika, he'd be in perma-strop mode.
  14. KVV's last season with us was lightning in a bottle. As much as I loved watching him, I'd be amazed if he manages another season anywhere that's even half as productive. Would still have him back, right enough.
  15. Scored 3 against Ross County, 2 against St Johnstone, 2 against Aberdeen and 1 against Hearts. The goals we conceded in all of those games (and the one conceded against Killie) were nearly all down to comedy defending.
  16. It would be more Motherwell-ish if we put up a good performance for a narrow defeat in this one and then get humped 4 - 1 against Dundee the following week. All I'm looking for here is a better overall shape and focus on good defending. Will certainly be getting plenty of chances to practice.
  17. There's a lot of chat on here about a man that will still be in charge next June.
  18. Good news. Certainly helps when you can take advice from a dad who has played in the Scottish leagues and knows the game, rather than one who is just an OF fan.
  19. Softie was also one of the Scotland U-18 team that won the Euros in 1982. He even scored in the final. That was before he joined us, but there aren't many Scottish players to have won a trophy even at that level.
  20. Only if you ignore all the 23 times in the first half he gave Kingsley a free run with the ball on the right wing. He was much better in the 2nd half when he switched sides.
  21. Spittal was a fish out of water playing left mid in the first half. Bringing on Spencer in the second made a difference. And bringing on Gent to let Spencer play on the right was even better. I'd be looking to start with Gent on the left and Spencer on the right to see how that goes. Those 2 were the ones for me that actually did something today, so I make Spencer my MOTM. The defence is still terrible and I actually think we're missing Mugabi's presence in the air.
  22. Still have my head in my hands after that one. (Nobody touched my head, I'm just a wee cheat) Take your pick...
  23. An alterntive to Hearts being bad is for us to play better, like when we beat them at Tynecastle.
