  1. Don't really think that any one of us knows for definite whether he did or didn't apply for other jobs while he was still employed by Motherwell FC. He did mention at the trust event what has been stated earlier in this thread, that he did have others offers but felt that he owed Motherwell for employing him when he was out of a job. He seemed like a pretty honourable guy but time will tell I guess. Andybug - a totally different thing from being an interim caretaker boss and someone who is allegedly being employed in a permanent capacity to carry out the role and duties in a long term basis.
  2. It's like juggling soot - Jim Gannon
  3. Yeah, I'm sure deep down he is really just an evil man who doesn't give a shit. One of James Bond biggest adversaries apparently.
  4. That will be the business sense that has made him 10's of millions of pounds.
  5. +1 Always felt that Mr Boyle has the best interest of Motherwell FC at heart, and that we are lucky to have him owning and running our club. He's made mistakes, who hasn't, but agree with Mitch that whatever has been done, sometimes contoversial, has been intended to be for the greater good.
  6. Not sure about that one, definitely felt that some of the older guys are well past there best and need to be either moved on or given a boot up the arse and not assume that they will automatically be in the starting 11 every week. I supported Gannon's attitude towards this just bothers me somewhat the credit he gets for bringing in the young guys.
  7. That's fine you're entitled to think that, but it's my opinion that it is the case.
  8. I was optimistic and happy when Gannon was appointed and thought that he would do a good job for us, but all the plaudits that he is getting for bringing the young players into the first team, would any other manager really have been any different with this? He was pretty much pushed into a corner due to the number of first team players that left at the end of last season and all that he could do was play the younger guys, unless he was able to bring in a whole team over night and he wouldn't have had the funds for this. Just fucks me off the constant compliments he gets for "bringing in the young guys" when they had come through our youth system anyway and he had no real option. Sorry to see Gannon go, but if some or most of the rumours are correct then Mr Boyle has done the correct thing and at the correct time. For weeks now Gannon has just seemed to be totally fucked off, disinterested and had the look of a man who is regretting coming here and on the way out anyway so it is beginning to look like he was pushed before he jumped. So much for his "here for the long term" and "thanks Motherwell for taking me off the dole queue". Fuck him, he's gone, he's old news on we go..
  9. I actually go into the next couple of games with a lot more hope than I had if Gannon was still in charge. As much as I was optimistic of the future with JG I feared the worst for the next few games.
  10. And that about sums all of the hot air that is getting generated on this and other forums, no-one really knows apart from them everything else is guess work and conjecture.
  11. Shockafuckinroonie!!!!! Never saw this one coming, and thought, and hoped that JG was the man with the long term plan that would, in the next 2 to 3 years, turn us into a formidable team doing well and playing good football. But obviously we don't have the inside track on what exactly has been happening within the walls of Fir Park, and how JG has actually been as an employee and manager. Even at the trust event I thought that he would be here for the long term the way that he was talking. Just shows you that you never know what the hell is coming next in football and especially at Motherwell. Oh well, onwards and upwards, players, managers come and go but the club is much more than just them. C'mon the 'Well
  12. Good for you mate, cracking post. Gave me the reality check that is was badly needing after watching that pish today. You're points are all valid, but we are on a worrying slump at the moment, hopefully things will pick up as I would like JG to be at Fir Park for the long term and see his ideas come to fruition. As long as we stay up this season I will be happy. Ever heard of paragraphs? - makes your rant/post much easier to read.
  13. FUCKIN BOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! as a BOO!! doesn't quite cut it for me after that today. JG is trying to turn us into a passing team, well there was fuck all passing today, aimless punts up the park for most of the game we then give away the ball and have to try and get it back again only to give it away again. I hope that all of those crying our for Craigen to come back saw why the fuck Gannon hasn't been playing him, slow as fuck, hoofs the ball up the park. Good guy but his time is well and truely up. 2nd half was absolute torture, never looked like scoring and absolutely shambolic defending, powder puff as usual and never looked like scoring again. Only think getting me through this by trying to take some posititives, good to see Slane and Humphries back hopefully they will start to make a difference and give us a bit more going forward. Also I've given Yassin absolute pelters on here, fair is fair, I though he was good today some excellent movement with Lasley up the right side especially in the first half and some good crosses. Good on you and keep it up. I'll be happy to eat my words if he starts to produce on a regular basis.
  14. Family have always been Well fans going back to my Dad, Grandad, Great-Grandad etc. etc. I'm just following the family line. Entire family are Well fans and I've converted a few mates along the way as well. When I was about 7 I remember trying to support the h**s as I was sick of Motherwell getting beaten every week. But my heart wasn't in it and I lasted about one game then I was back on the righteous path. Thank fuck. I just remember the buzz of going to the old Fir Park when it was all terracing, walking around to the other end at half time, wagon wheels, cheesy crisps, guys walking around the park selling food etc. Early floodlit games just seems to be so exciting when you were a kid. Then started to going to all home and away games especially when we had been relegated. The rest is history - of lots of ups and downs. But so so glad that I am a Well fan and not a supporter of one of the gruesome twosome. MTID..
  15. True, but his contract, which tied him to the club, could always end up being a waste of time as all it would take would be a decent compensation offer from another club and he would be away. Which was exactly my point, but really deep down you knew that anyway didn't you?
  16. Haw Blakey - Go fuck yersel ya knobjockey.
  17. Thoroughly enjoyed last night, thanks to everyone who organised it and to the members of the panel for still turning up on a cold snowy Thursday. All four of them would be cracking guys to have a few pints with and hear a few of there stories, sound guys all of them. As others have said, every time I hear big Jim I'm more and more impressed by him. Articulate, intelligent and tells you how it is, I thought that he dealt with the question regarding his contract very well and totally agree with him, contracts aren't worth the paper that they are written on and that he feels that he owes Motherwell for taking him on when he was unemployed. I feel that he is the type that likes to see things through and watch his teams and players develop. He has a refreshing philosopy towards football and developing the players.
  18. Jennings was complaining of cramp that is why he was subbed. The players were shouting over to the bench to let them know. Agree with most of the other posters, we were lucky that we weren't totally pumped. Ruddy and Lucas are carrying the team at the moment. It was too big a step for most of the young guys. Samaras ripped Saunders a new shite hole most of the game. I know that we are a young team blah! blah! but we are far too lightweight Forbes has done exactly zip since the first couple of games. We need some more players in the Jennings mould, experienced who don't mind mixing it and get stuck in. I know that it was Celtic and that we were always going to be up against it, but most teams have sussed us already. Close us down then we start making mistakes we end up giving away the ball or humping it up the park and lose the ball. I'm getting sick of seeing it every fuckin week. Don't feckin start me on Yassin, we start a man down every game. What the fuck has happened to having a bit of a dig and actually closing down and tackling a player for fuck sake. Try and win the loose ball. We almost tactically every game want to put pressure on ourselves and allow other teams to push us back.
  19. Business as usual for Yassin today, absolute feckin murder. What the fuck Gannon sees in this guy I don't know. Hutton can at least carry a ball, beat a player and put in a cross. Yassin can't do any of these or defend. A bit of a limiting factor if your meant to be a right back.
