Was not a 'competitive' game, rolling subs in use, all there getting some time so doubt anyone played full game, only 35 mins each way, decent opposition, chance to work on shape in a game rather than training, players would want to play in nice conditions get some cobwebs away, gives the new guys a run out, can't see the issue here. Scottish Cup Final v Celtic (Hampden) 19/05/18 15:00
Clackscat replied to something else's topic in Club Chat
Would be a dull forum if we all agreed with each other. In life some folks are optimistic and some pessimistic and nowt wrong with that. My only 'issue' is that those of a more negative view tend to be very quiet when things are going well but when it isn't they seem to come alive. All manner of statistics and observations and predictions of armageddon get trotted out. It is almost as if thats what they get off on. But hey each to their own, its a shame really cause within the gloom and doom there is usually a pertinent point worth debating. Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk -
Read that at time and thought it was a great story...very interesting Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

Neither can play right side which is where we lack cover and given Hammy is no longer there so options to use Dunne are more limited. Actually felt our back 4 at Killie looked solid with kipre and dunne in middle and i agree we need a left back. Wasnt referencing Heneghan per say just saying an alternative/cover shouldn't be dismissed soley cos we don't think it is as good. Long as it is good enough. At AGM Robbo said midfield is weakened by McHugh having to cover at the back (moot point i know) so it doesn't look like he wants that to be plan b. Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

Kipre will not be far away from a suspension and as others have said has been overplayed for such a young inexperienced player so i don't think its a case of getting in someone as good or better, (although that would be great) it's a case of getting in someone who can adequately cover. Lets see....i remember Gary Lineker saying Ranieri honestly? or something similar when he was appointed Leicester manager and having to eat his words. If it comes to it I am sure you will happily do so as well. I think it is a huge punt for us and can see the potential upside.....will be a test of Robbo's man management skills thats for sure. At least we are not commiting to long term contract and be honest who HASN'T fallen out with Derek Adams Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

My brother in law works for the pfa in england, actually puts senior players through their coaching qualifications and is an ex pro himself. He has only been at 1 Motherwell game, some years ago away to Thistle. He picked out Stevie Hammell as far and away the best player on the park. I'll trust his judgement on the matter! If Stevie was a world beater he wouldn't have been 18 years or so with us but he has been a terrific consistent player for us with a great professional attitude and by all accounts great in the dressing room and helping others. Great interview on you tube and he has quietly been getting his qualifications and planning for this unlike for example McGhee pulling Faddy out a hat. Best of luck Stevie Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

No way Robbo and Skippy will join up again. Not what we need anyway, Tanner can play that role Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

Be brilliant if they used an Accies fans posted on line video to punish Accies players....karma Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

Fact as per stats released round about time of cup final. Celtic were using them to bleat about how far behind PSG they were financially, conveniently forgetting how far ahead they are of other scottish clubs Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

Reasonable question to ask. Something went awry with him yesterday. He has been brilliant for us but even before the 'penalty' I thought he was on the edge. Was his behaviour more than the mistake that worries me Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

Going by your various comments on here over the last few days mate you lost your class a long time ago (if you ever had any in the first place) Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

So he will now get suspended was that smart? I get the defend your team mate stuff but defend him from what? A few verbals wi Imrie but now he and we are the ones who suffer. Way to deal with contemptible numpties like Imrie is beat them at football not losing the plot and shoving them to the ground...total nonsense from an experienced player who should know better and avoid playing into the wee turds hands. And as for basketball I would rather poke my eyes out with a sharp stick thanks Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

Well as a self confessed happy clapper I have to say I have serious concerns after today. When your best player drops a clanger then stupidly gets himself red carded, when the team plays without cohesion, stucture, or belief, and when you sense a change of mood in the crowd its probably just as well we have a break and a transfer window coming up. Tanner the only shining light today, and McLean looked capable when he came on. I really don't get the 'its what you do in both boxes' mantra and I must have fallen asleep at times today because I didn't see a string of missed chances. I saw forwards getting very little to work with and a defence given little cover. Tanner apart we have zero creativity. We are not controlling games in the middle of the park and our problems are stemming from there. Bad bad day and pressure is on Robbo to sort it. For the first time I have doubts he can and I feel terrible for saying that so soon after praising him earlier. I cannot remember such a negative turn round in form in such a short period of time. Out of interest who were the other 2? Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

As our support tends to do with most young players coming through the ranks we laud them as they break into the team, moan like hell when they are not played every week and complain not enough home grown players, and then if they don't 'kick on' and fullfill early promise we are not long in stickin the boot in. Was always thus. Younger players do need protection. Clarkson was grossly overplayed as a youngster and its noticable Campbells form has dropped since u21 duties and the intensity of regular top team games hence his dropping to bench recently. Hopefully he will come good. Like his attitude seems like a good head on his shoulders Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

Well I finally dared to watch the highlights of last night and a few things sprung to mind. 3 missed chances, most glaring the first from Tanner after a hopeful Kipre punt and a nice head flick from Fisher, the second effort from Tanner was far from a sitter but beautifully set up by a delightful Tait flick, the third effort came from Big under pressure deep left side played back to Carson who set up Tait for a great ball to Tanner who did really well to get a cross in, tbf Fisher is under pressure but should have scored. Two of the chances came from good football so we CAN play, but when you do you have to take chances. Defensive clusterf**ks for both goals and Dunne who I have defended on here and who I think has played well last 2 games culpable in both, what on earth he was doing at first goal is beyond me leaving Wilson to chase the first cross when others were in a better position to deal with it then subsequently nowhere near Wilson for the second phase, and not coming out at the second goal and leaving Morelos onside. I understand Robbo's comment about its what you do in both boxes that count, however if you don't have a functioning midfield then your back line is constantly under pressure and will eventually crack, while your forwards are feeding off scraps and spending a lot of time chasing, and therefore snatching at the few chances they get. Our midfield has no one who can effectively go 'box to box'. I think Rose is the one player who physically can do it, but is just not good enough on the ball when he does. Tanner has impressed recently but needs to play 'in the hole' off a front 2, not as a second striker, and frankly we haven't got 2 strikers good enough. We have had a lot of 'bad breaks' since the final but I find myself wondering if always setting a team up for a high intensity pressing game is sustainable for a club like ours. The energy expended both emotional and physical for the 3 Celtic games in particular looks to have drained us, and we need that sustained pressing game because we frankly are not good enough to play through teams at this stage. I also wonder if this intensity has contributed to our current injury crisis, while Moult has papered over the cracks to a certain extent with his goal scoring. As a first stage of a rebuild all of this is to an extent understandable, and perhaps unrealistic expectations were raised by reaching a cup final and sitting high in the league. Most Well fans would have accepted where we are in the league at this stage, especially with the second smallest budget in the league. I hope this early success is not used as a stick to beat Robbo up with. Yes he has made mistakes (has anyone reading this not?), and we have had some bad luck. However it is vital now that correct decisions are made in this transfer window, and lessons are learned. The early season points in the bag may prove very important but it didn't take other teams long to suss us out after that and we haven't (perhaps Aberdeen away excepted) won any tactical battle since. Cover for centre half, a box to box midfielder, and a quality striker needed along with a bit more emphasis on getting it down and playing. I think we have the basis of a decent side in Carson, Tait, Hartley, Kipre, Cadden and Tanner. We need more from Bigi, McHugh, Frear, and Dunne and I think they are capable of it. Campbell and Newell have potential but still young and inexperienced. Sadly I don't think Rose, Fisher, Bowman, Petra, Grimshaw, Griffiths have what we need although all are decent guys doing their best, while Hammell is clearly not a long term option much as he has been great for us (and has done well in his few appearances this year). Would love to see more game time for McLean. We do not have a record for being the most patient of supports with managers. I remember wee Tommy getting it in the neck a season after winning the cup. I get the concern re Robbo but you learn more about people when things aren't going well. He handled everything around the cup semi final and final brilliantly, he has got the early points in the bag that are cushioning us a little, he has had some bad luck, BUT it is a results basis and he knows more than anyone that he needs to improve things. We as fans can do our bit by not panicking and going negative at this stage, piling even more pressure on the team and manager. 2 vital games against Accies coming up, lets keep right behind them.
