Just referenced the 'Well again book by Graham B and Keith B. It was season 93/94 game was originally scheduled for 9/4 but was played 3/5 which would explain midweek evening game. Kirk scored for us crowd was 5208 and you are right re Roddie, he hadnt been signed. We then drew 3-3 away to Raith and lost 1-0 to St J finishing 3rd 1 pt behind Adeen and 4pts behind Rangers. Basically taking 1 point from last 3 games from teams finishing 6th, 10th and 11th which cost us the league...thats how close we actually were. It was McLeans final season with us so my memory was playing tricks but I am still convinced the Cooper stand was a building site! Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Remember that I think the cooper stand was being built so it was literally a building site behind that goal. Crowd was just over 5000 for a title chasing team!!. Now I could well be wrong here but did Andy Roddie not miss a chance to put us 2 up before Brewster scored and if that was the case it would have been McLeish's first season. (but more or less McLeans team)...feel free to correct as my memory aint what it used to be! Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

True....Saints have always been a good example and I like the way Thistle/Archibald have gone about things, but it has taken time for them, it wasn't that long ago they were struggling. I would like to think our fans would be as patient but I doubt it [emoji6] Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Haha we should sign him if they have! Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Assuming Moult and Skippy go (and by christ I shudder where we would have been without them) the only players I would keep are Heneghan, Tait, Clay (just), Bowman, Frear, McManus, Cadden if he can get his act together and especially Carl McHugh imo our future captain and who we should build the team around....from the younger kids McLean, McMillan, Campbell, Ferguson...the other U20s I havent seen enough of That leaves a hell of a rebuilding job on a small budget with priorities goalkeepers, left back, and a box to box midfielder, and a nippy striker As others have said some pace and some physical presence would be great. Easier said than done I know but from what Robinson has said I am confident he knows what is required, lets pray he gets his recruitment right. (And I would take Crawford and Devlin in a heartbeat, believe it or not I would also take Imrie) Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Apologies I was at the u20 3-2 loss v Dunf and Griffiths played in that game, was poor at one of the goals, and I was wrongly told he was in goals in the 6-3 defeat by Thistle. Mind you having just watched it on you tube my point still stands. I know these can be one offs but if either of Saints 2 goallies today were in our squad I would hope they would play in front of Samson Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk -

Understand your frustration as I dont rate him either but we have no one else. The loanee from Everton has not impressed in the U20s and there is only one other kid keeper so blame the previous manager for taking a chance on a crocked Brill. Sarcastic cheering when he does catch the ball is moronic in my opinion and only makes things worse Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk -

Sensible, level headed and informed post. Agree with all of that Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Against Man Utd in the premiership a kind of scuffed shot into the corner if I remember correctly Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

In what way?......the club have said nothing until an appointment is made which is the way it should be. Perhaps you are reacting to the speculation on here which as in any messageboard will contain the usual mixture of views and conjecture. My preferred option is Robinson till end of season but have no problem with club exploring other options. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Ok lets look at this another way. We have been honkin all season we dont create enough chances and we have a pourous defence. Now does anyone seriously think that ANY person can come in and overnight with the same players suddenly right EVERYTHING thats wrong. The board have a choice to make and we all have to hope they get it right......bring in someone fresh with all the disruption that may bring and pray they hit the ground running (cos they will need to) or stick with the interim management team who have produced improved (although far from perfect) performances. Pish? Oh dear... they are human beings not robots. Of course we SHOULD hold on at 92 minutes but we didn't.....in your work or life have you never fallen short at any time or are you as perfect as you would like our team to be Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk -

Yes and my point remains you dont go from losing 7 to almost a clean sheet without the guy in charge doing something right....would be interested to know how many teams have come away from Pittodrie with a clean sheet if thats the criteria Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk -

I know howver a shit performance at Adeen would have seen another humping and further damage to fragile confidence. Dont get me wrong I am frustrated as anyone at the late goal but teams in our position dont usually turn overnight into a team that can take a point or better away from the current 2nd place team in the league so for now I will take the better performance and the confidence it will generate Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk -

Aye but ffs a huge improvement from a 7-2 humping...good god if the criteria for success as a mwell manager is avoiding defeat at Adeen then we will be going through managers at a hell of a rate. Massive injury list, some playing no doubt not fully fit, an organised, disciplined and gutsy performance and still the barbs come, all from a team who have been rank previously displaying none of the above. ....but we got beat so Robinson 'failed' ....bewildering. Out of that lot I would take Robinson way before any of the rest Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Was at Bradford City v MK Dons last week and thoroughly enjoyed it ... great to see so many claret and amber scarves. Mate and I both reckoned it was Spl equivalent but 17000 crowd and atmospheric ground under lights gave it a real sense of occassion even with less than 100 away fans. McCall has them playing good football Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

I meant in comparison to recent history, can you honestly say we have players now as good as under McCall eg is Jules any better than Hutchison, Clay any better than Nicky Law. I am realistic about where we are as a club my point perhaps clumsily made was that we just seem to accept it rather than strive to improve it. Understand we need to be a selling club but we seem to be throwing a lot of mud at the wall for so far one success (marv) and potentially moult so perhaps the balance is wrong. Hopefully the current crop of kids on new contracts will bear more fruit but we seem intent on limiting their development by bringing in imo very limited players. Btw have great respect for our older club stalwarts and have never had a go at them. What do I want from a Motherwell team? Organisation, discipline, effort, reasonable level of skill, attempting attacking entertaining football, and busting a gut to win games. Notice I havent said winning things but trying to would be a start Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Now turned 60 I have followed the Well for over 45 years, have some shares, joined the well society, have worked at the club, and was also involved in the trust. I went home and away and introduced my 3 kids to the 'joys' of following the Well. I have had some wonderful times that old firm fans just will never understand, and most importantly met some terrific people. Just a month ago 7 of us who all met through MFC had a wonderful meal together to bid one of our number a fond farewell to his new life in the States. I have gained a huge amount by being a supporter and would never indulge in a 'boycott'.......but then I realised perhaps as others I have been 'boycotting' for a few years as my level of attendance has dropped from season ticket holder to maybe 1 in 3 home games and very few away. In fact, living away from the area, when I do go now the primary motive is to see the friends I have made over the years. For me a defining moment was the Celtic Cup Final when we just didn't turn up or compete. There was a defeatist attitude that day and in many ways has been ever since, a mild acceptance of our place in the scheme of things which I believe affects the attitude shown on the park. We are not daft, we know we are a smaller club but as others have proved smaller clubs can do great things or at least bust a gut trying and that is what I see missing..... to me we use the lack of resource as a ready made excuse, rather than genuinely strive to be the best we can possibly be. I look at a team full of English non league players and think how can a support identify with these players, who with the exception of Moult are of lesser quality than we had or more worryingly than others seem to bring in. We are trying to find a nugget in the midden to sell on, not build a team playing exciting football, be competitive in the top 6 or win a cup, and that is why the apathy is growing. If that is the sum of our ambition and this is the level of excitement, what is the point of travelling all over the country and spending a fortune. There is a built in excuse for failure and when that situation exists failure is what will happen. I can't pretend to have all the answers but what struck me is the apathy amongst us older ones rather than anger on Saturday. It is as if the support has given up as well....and that is a real worry.

Strong all round performance quodos to Moult and Tait but I thought Scott McDonald was immense. Great goal and an assist and terrific work ethic, no wonder he was knackered at the end. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

I've read this thread with interest, poor Dave must be wondering what he has started. CM makes some interesting points, but I think misses the biggest point of all, in that this is a forum for Well fans, it is not and has never been a 'recruiting tool' for the club. It has evolved from humble beginnings as a small scale discussion forum for Well fans to have a much larger scale and scope than I think the originators could have foreseen. That guys who do this voluntarily and in their own time have achieved this is worthy of congratulations and they should not be the subject of some belittling comments from CM just because they do not fit in with his vision of how things should be done. A lot of the things CM suggests are done by the club already, so I do not see the need to duplicate this. This site should be kept purely as a discussion forum and I for one enjoy the more reasoned posts and threads. I just ignore those I perceive as 'troll like'. CM it would appear from what you tell us that you have been incredibly successful in your chosen field and congratulations to you for that. I do find it slightly puzzling though that you have achieved this success if you go about your business dealings in the same way you have gone about trying to persuade this forum on the merits of your proposal; because what you have done is actually dilute your own argument. Perhaps spending so much time in the digital world has blunted your 'people' radar who knows, but first rule of business is don't belittle or make assumptions about people in general and especially those you have never met.
