I was sure I read somewhere that they wold open up a section in another stand if the away stand sold out. Couldn't believe they were turning folk away when the ground was half empty.

I think it's a measure of how far Jim Gannon has taken us until now that a lot of us consider it our right to be beating St Mirren. Not so long ago we were worried we'd be in the mire of a relegation struggle. Shit happens, its how we deal with it that counts and on last night's evidence I'd say the fans have as much to answer as the players. A lot of sore losers in that travelling support. I thought the first goal came off Hutchison which would mean we scored all 3 for them. Not saying we deserved anything cos St Mirren hassled us into mistakes all over the place and fair play to them for that but my biggest frustration was our failing to play even the simplest of passes under minimal pressure. They're no' really that good that we should be scared of them and it looked like that at times. Difficult conditions for our passing game but the players will know they can do better. Lukas should have scored, just dink it into the corner and Gallacher is left hanging in mid-air like a loon. Ifs buts and maybes, move on and stuff Hearts now hopefully.

Aged 18 months or so my Dad took me 'up by' for the first time. Can't remember it obviously and neither can he but that would be around the end of 1965, beginning of 66. Early memories include possibly that same drubbing from Rangers mentioned earlier, think Keith MacRae dived to save a shot, missed it but it hit the post and went in off the back of his heid. Quinton Young the scorer IIRC. Dixie Deans taking another long walk after a sending off, Joe Wark going in goals and keeping a clean sheet and celebrating an Arbroath goal by mistake cos I was playing wi' ma motors on the bench seats in the Main Stand and heard a roar so joined in thinking it was our goal. Sat and watched the game after a sharp rebuke from faither.

Worth it to see the highlights they'll probably show from Tuesdays games though. Normally half-time I believe.

A bastion of truth that paper. Says in The Express he didnae think it was a foul and that the player won the ball. TV clearly shows the player didnae win the ball so therefore he's mistaken. Penalty!!!!

" Oh, it's crying time again you're going to leave us" goes the song but the only crying you'll be doing on Saturday hopefully is the thought of no more absolute quality OSB banter until the New Year. Yes the final issue of 2009 is on sale at the Hearts game with a plentiful supply of chuckles and muckle great opinions on the current state of affairs 'up by' and beyond. In this issue of the greatest Motherwell fanzine named after a Madness song.....ever, we looked to produce a 'zine that ticks all the boxes so we created a checklist; Let's be controversial and feature the recently released 'hooligan' films - check Let's poke fun at the Old Firm - check Let's fill some pages up with absolute tosh - check Above all let's give a platform to genuine Well fans to get their point of view in print and provide other fans with the finest bog read you're likely to find this side of the River Clyde - check, check and triplecheck. One thing lacking might be some new names on the contributors list but that's up to you. The current crop continue to produce some quality material on a regular basis, if you think you can improve on it then sign up and join the crew. Stay happy Mj

Only just seen it on the wee clip and it's a pen, no question IMO. Trailing foot catches him. Nae debate anyways, ref says it is so it is, get o'er it. If we hudnae got that The Duke wid likely got a hat-trick onyways.

Have we no' been here before recently? Seem to recall worrying slightly before the Llanelli game so I'm going to not worry slightly now.

Stephen Craigan Testimonial Season - Race Night
fatcalf replied to Crazy Diamond's topic in Club Chat
Ah enjoyed it certainly. -
Something wrong if you can't enjoy a game with 11 goals, always something going on. Exciting stuff which is what fitba's about IMO. Beats the Hell out of the typical Sheepymeeh 1-0 vitories we usually had to endure up until then.

As Fritz pointed out he didnae like that kit at the time, maybe Malpas had summat to do wi' that, but on closer inspection he admits Xara made good gear. We've had a Xara kit before and it lasted brilliantly, only problem wi' this yin is trying to keep the white shorts clean throughout our winter but if past season are owt tae go by most of the games will be called off between now and March anyroads.

That pic is from his Sporting Lisbon days no? Shellic haven't had a collar like that. Anyways Hans Gillhaus, Hamilton baistard, aye he's in. And Hearts players don't need to be mentioned by name surely. The mere fact they wore Maroon is enough to qualify.
-
Well they're new to us, not new as in a Motherwell sense as they're the old Xara (Was gonnae say Anglian there but Cakes might be watching ) kits with our own sponsor logos. Hopefully on show in the programe next Saturday.

What you on about, I haven't even mentioned our second consecutive 4-1 victory this weekend, never mind the fact I've personally notched 5 goals in those 2 games and I've hardly mentioned that we're now called Motherwell Fans Club and that we've got new strips which are the dogs danglies, and that we're blah blah blah

Sky Sports - Motherwell's Greatest Ever Player Nominations
fatcalf replied to Tartan_Special's topic in Club Chat
Can't decide something like this by a poll, always going to be skewed in some way whether it's a generation thing or personal feelings. Flow had a great idea before he got THE job for a Hall of Fame where a panel made up of different generations would sit and argue over candidates put up for inclusion by whatever means. The young yins on here couldn't influence it by voting in numbers for recent heroes and achievements would be duly considered for every candidate. Shame it was hijacked by that kid-on Greatest Ever corporate event which didn't even include names from the only real Title winning team we've produced in our history. (Albeit they might just have got the Greatest PLayer right in the end) -
Erm, George Stevenson anyone?

I have a foolproof system whereby I believe absolutely nothing until it happens, built up over decades of reading and listening to absolute pish from 'offeeshal sources'. Rumours schmumours. I don't doubt some guys post things on here with the best of intentions, equally some like to play the juvenile card (I know something you don't know doo daa doo daa) but to be honest I take the opinion all of it's shite until something actually happens. Works for me.

Touche but that bastard of a design deserves no less.
