Good To See The 'old School' There Today!

Mayybe they weren't bored. Maybe they had some business to attend to -
Nice that us 'armchair' managers have been proven correct with Sutty and Murphy having such an impact. Easily our best combination, not to mention tried and tested.
-
Can't agree wi' that though seeing as I believe the SPL should be disbanded
-
Got you FWIW I don't think the clubs should be involved in the process at all, too many vested interests will never reach an agreement.
-
Clarify please in case I read you wrong, you think 4 clubs should resign from the league? Ours being one of them.
-
No they won't, unless it is really severe Sky will out.
-
On the plus side, plenty scope for improvement Get the young lads in from their loans, get big Sutty back up front with wee Bob and Jamie just behind them. We have a decent team, not the biggest squad but it's not all doom and gloom on the playing front.

But 10 or 12 is still pie in the sky cos fans are switching off to 'the product' if you like. There is no solution that will meet everyone's needs, the status quo is killing the game, a bigger league opens it up to more clubs and would look after Scottish Football on a wider scale. Narrowing it down to an elite makes the game weaker as has been proived. The proposal for two 10's acknowledges that in some ways, but is flawed, open it up and spread the wealth, for the sake of our national game.
-
From where I'm sitting yes and there will be more if we move to a 10 team league I suspect. You outline why 16 is a no go and I outline why 10 is a no go, my reasons are better than yours. Anyway I'm in favour of 18, far less reasons for a no go there.
-
All right for the utopians v realists debate here's some realism. Fans are walking away in their droves just now, a 10 team league will exacerbate that trend. Are you going to be happy with empty stadiums in a few years? Will TV really want to show Scottish Football with no crowds, no atmosphere and those who do attend forced to pay exorbitant costs to watch something akin to a semi-pro league only difference being those players with limited ability are still being paid far more than their talents deserve? Same outcome as proposed by a realist so I suppose the gemme is well and truly a bogie.

I didn't ask for the obvious negatives to be brought up, all formats have positives and negatives, 18 teams is the simplest and in my opinion the best way to go. I'm not debating it. Just stating my opinion which has not changed since we moved to the Premier League in the first instance back in 1975. We have a great opportunity here and if we don't get it right we're fucked. ANd if we don't get more teams in the top flight and start sharing the wealth around we won't have 10 teams worthy of a top league in a short while. Oh and I was against Britain joining the EU back then as well and still haven't changed my mind, kinda stubborn that way

I wasn't referring to your post Flow, I was answering the previous post, I know you were only opening it up for debate but if it were forthcoming now, and the suggestion by Gordon Smith in his interview is that it could be, then that is exactly what it is. "Oh the fans urnae happy, ah know we'll tell 'em we'll bring prices down, they've been maoning aboot that for years. That'll shut them up." Naw it willnae, it's gone way past that stage, everything that's wrong about the game is getting dragged up and none of them in isolation will make the slightest difference. Chill young man, let us do the fretting, it is what we do best after all
-
So, 3 more and we can tell the OF to go fuck themselves in a league of 2? Widnae take Sky long to get fed up with showing their pish every week.

But it's a blatant bribe and we can see through it so we're perfectly entitled to say so. I would obviously welcome a reduction in admission costs but bringing it in after fucking up the game by moving to a 10 team league is like opening the back door after the cats spewed all over your kitchen floor.

Thanks for that Joe, a wee quick look at the download hurt my eyes so I closed it quickly. As for consultation here's my view so you don't need to ask me later. 18 team league play each other twice, no splits, no nothing, just a plain, simple old fashioned football league. We share gate money between participating clubs cos no team can play themselves. Don't care if there;s no TV, we fans put in more money and should be heeded first. If the OF don't like it tell them to FATCALF, they need us more than we need them. Football's a simple game made complicated by idiots, how true is that old statement?

I got a call from someone on behalf of the Telegraph today, touting for business believe it or not. Asking what paper I currently read and would I be interested in taking their half price subscription offer. Since I currently avoid daily newspapers and rely on t'internet to find out current news I found that quite funny.
-
Did he? Must have missed that.
-
Noooo, you don't want to see the bigger picture, it's been proven fans don't want that.
-
So that's a 4% payment for everyone then the rest made up depending on league placing? Add to that the prize money from the league for your league placing, any idea how much that is worth? Considering the OF are as good as guaranteed the first 2 slots it's a fair old difference but not as much as I believed I'll grant you. Can't believe how much furore over the OF keeping just £1 Million ahead of the rest, must be more to it than that.
-
What? Like the original plan should have been instead of pissing it all away on greedy bastard agents and players wages? The game was up the minute the first TV money came into the game and clubs didn't use it to cap admission prices there and then. Too late now. Players up here are paid too much, disproportionate to the attendance figures, TV money should be invested in the future of the clubs, youth development, infrastructure, yes lower admission prices but above all it should not be used to fund the team. That should come from season tickets and admission fees.

Careful, he's on record as saying he would take issue with anyone questioning his integrity. Scared not
