As was said previously, that's how interviews work. When I was about 20 I had to travel to London for a 2nd interview (1st interview was in EK). I didn't get the job. I would imagine many people have had similar experiences.

re: Pearson - With very few games in January, there was little point in having a (presumed) high earner on the books at the start of the month. Especially when it wasn't known who was going to be here by the end of the month. ie Brill now away and his replacement, I assume, on less wages.

Saw on twitter that there's a young goalie on trial from Canada - Alex Jakma. Don't know if this is with a view to replacing Brill, or just par for the course, in terms of picking up promising talent.

FYI - here's what I was talking about. Just seen this on Twitter Opta provide these sort of stats. They include expected goals, and expected assists, rather than goals and assists in the past. ie if they have the right players around them the potential is there

Why does everything come down to goals? Marvin was hardly a goal machine. And had less assists than Lionel. He offered so much more than basic statistics suggest - runs, passes in key areas, creating space, drawing players to him to create space for others. If we are using the scouting system/software then it can drill right down to what the club are looking for as a suitable winger. It doesn't always mean goals & assists. Also, in terms of lack of appearances, I assume the scouting software will also flag that up, meaning there is better chance of a player moving away from a club. ie has the attributes we're looking for but isn't playing regularly. At that point it's the club's responsibility to physically scout and assess for injury.

Christ! Hollis and Donnelly both play for Southside AFC. Hollis seems to have been there last season and Donnelly signed in September.

As well as attitude/mentality, I also think it's a pay-off between wages offered at a lower league club, and what you can earn in a "proper" day job. For example, if football wages on offer are £500 a week, but you've got the opportunity to earn that, or more, with more job security then it makes sense. I don't know if that's the situation here, but it's certainly how I would be thinking.

Seems he's now with Southside AFC. Both of them are, actually. When I played, there used to be a rule that even former Junior/Pro players wouldn't be considered for amateur select teams.

A bit random, but just read on Twitter that Lee Hollis and Bobby Donnelly have been chosen for the Scottish Amateur Select trial game this weekend.

ps I don't even know what a cabal is. Is that one of those things you hire when you're on holiday that you get your own bed/couch by the side of the pool? If so, why does it require to be wiped out?
