Completely forgot to update this, mainly because I couldn't get the photo of me and Pat small enough to comply with site rules.
Anyway, it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening, Pat's a great speaker, took loads more questions than the compère wanted him to and stuck around for ages at the end. I was able to have a good chat with him and so did my mates who are from Dundee, Fife, Glasgow, all over really. A few of us bought his book too which I have now read and I have to say that I feel very differently about him now.
John Boyle needs to take a larger portion of the blame along with the money men at his company Hamilton. Pat seemed to be an honest, kind and intelligent person who was as upset and annoyed as anyone when the cutbacks started. Also, Pat's insights into some of the behind the scenes stuff like Billy Davies' mental state, Eric Black's coaching ability, Terry Butcher putting David Kelly in his place and many others was really eye-opening.
All-in-all, I understand the hate but he put his heart and soul into the club for those three or so years.
