When is an appropriate point to criticise? Let me know as we drag away down the league. ETA - We're the worst fans in the league, because you know folks very upset by leaving it
-
Posts like those of Steve Diggle, condemning any negative response to the current regime, and thus negating any form of healthy debate really stop the average commenter from coming on and making their thoughts heard. Frankly, they put people like me off. I was there around the time of the administration, but the comments of some posters seem designed to denigrate any comment unless it came from the era of zero competition, or the current unfortunate period. I am all for supporting the team, and I really wish folk'd pick a side.

Null vote. Forwards went missing, defence remain incapable of defending set pieces, and the midfield...who?
-
Is it ok to criticise now, or are a couple more flat, unimaginative performances needed? It's not a crisis, nor anything like it, but frankly, we've not played to anything near a high standard this season. Recruitment has left us playing either lopsided (and fuck knows what happens if ZFA gets an injury) or with 4 central midfielders at times. I can read the table, I am aware of our position near the top, but unless we up our game, these scraped single goal victories will dry up. Tonight, they went down to ten men, and our reaction was to continue hoofing the ball at the back post, to a John Sutton who appears to have forgotten he has feet, with a combination of Anier, McHugh or later on Steven McbloodyManus. Because, apparently, McCall has so little trust in our bench that throwing McManus up front is the best available option. Credit to him for making the subs when he did, as Lawson wasn't needed as much as some forward drive was, and McHugh should have been told to run across the front post for a different option. Maybe he was, and instead, he did the same headless chicken act as ever? Who knows what goes through McCall's head on the big occasions. Harsh? Yes. But that tonight was frankly embarrassingly stupid.

Scottish Football Clubs Alcohol Ban To Be Reviewed
StipeIsGod replied to gilmour's topic in Club Chat
I can't understand the prerequisite that alcohol at half time is needed to lather up a crowd for a match. I think the Well Bois have been doing a cracking job with the current regulations, without causing potential issues there and elsewhere for the sake of a (probably overpriced) pint. -
Indeed. Dragged us through a period where we were on our knees due to a lack of players. Displeased many fans, including myself, with poor treatment toward Crags and Lasley, but also somehow whipped the likes of Forbes into looking like prospects.

This must be the calmest I've been in 5 years or so at this stage of the transfer window.
-
Nowt wrong with Hollis. He also looked to come out of his shell a bit this weekend, and actually shout for the defence to leave the ball for him, or get into appropriate positions.
-
The comment that he'll come good, but not today, suggests that I believe that when he beds in, he'll be good. I watched him cede possession a number of times, play through balls straight to the central defender repeatedly, and drag our entire team infield by possessing no basic knowledge of wing play. He will be a good player, but he's not even vaguely adaptable to the circular hole that we're trying to scud him into at the moment. He provided zero protection for Hammell, and also provided nothing of tangible worth to our victory. The major comment that I made is that we won. End of. However we did it is irrelevant, it's three points in the bag. Six other major comments I could have made Positive - We looked more able to create flowing play from the wings infield. - Sutton and Anier appear to be learning each others' running patterns - Hollis is really growing into his first team spot. Negative - The sending off (which I found ludicrous, but understandable) - The continuing lack of form from McFadden - The shocking lack of fitness which causes us to pack up within the final 30 minutes. Chose not to make those, and savour the victory instead of picking it apart, but I'm not willing to read the idea put forward that Vigurs was a driving force in the win without debate.

Downvote, downvote, downvote. No contradicting opinion, just anonymous downvotes. It's a bit sad, really. If there was a thoroughly positive comment, or even a discussion as to why I'm wrong, I'd understand, but to just click that wee button with no added commentary just seems a tad small minded. Credit to Siebs for at least openly disagreeing.

Why did Ainsworth come on up front? Is that where we're looking at playing him, perhaps, or was that a way to introduce him gently? ETA - Aye, it was indeed a fightback. I had forgotten that, with the happiness of grabbing the points.
-
You can indeed say that. I'd say you'd likely be wrong. They will never come good. Toxic, so they are.
-
Going to throw it out there with the roiling opinions. Vigurs sucked today, when compared with expectations thus far. He'll come good, but not today.
-
God no. I think he is due disappearing so that any potential prospects don't have his arse in the way.
-
Carswell as well. (downvoted 4x for me voting on the current favourite)
-
Indifferent. A win, and that's the most important thing. Bugger all to write home about bar the points.

As is well known (and criticised) I class myself as big a Liverpool fan as a Well fan. As for soft spots, I like Inverness a lot, and used to have a lot of time for Hibs, because of the mental swashbuckling games we had with them a few years ago, be it 6-6, a cuffing for us, or a close game.
-
The move that McHugh needs. Get a bit of confidence at his level, and then he may be able to scrape a job for us until the end of the season, and let younger, actual prospects have a shot in the first team.
-
This, considering McCall's slow changes, in terms of both substitutions and additions to the starting line up, is the most likely to me. In the longer term, I'd have ZFA out for Ainsworth. Or, Sutton out, with Ainsworth - Lasley - Carswell - ZFA behind McFadden and then Anier.
-
Looks like McCall's going to need to keep him in line.
-
Hmmn. I haven't predicted yet. I reckoned pre-Partick that we'd turn around the form/play for this one, and I'm sticking with that. 3-0 Well, goals from an improved Faddy x2 and Hutchinson.
-
Anybody away, and keep the free ticket in the season ticket book for a bit further down the line.
-
I like this a lot. I may have to thieve it.
-
I'm looking forward to a wee day out before it, actually.
-
Carswell, but my vote could easily have gone to any of our back four.
