I'd definitely want him for another season. I think he'll be worth more in terms of selling next year, combined with potential league placings/cup runs etc. He must be worth at least 1 mill, with David Goodwillie being 'worth' 2 million.

I fully agree. I was just wondering if he was quite poor at the physical side, as suggested, or if he had a touch of an agressive streak.

What do we think the Murphy price actually is? I reckon that we should be holding out for 1.5-1.75 million, but will probably let him go for 1-1.25 million.

Agreed, and I have no real qualms about getting players in on loan from the Old Firm if absolutely necessary to boost the squad. As soon as they play in claret and amber, they are a Motherwell player, clean slate, until I see how they play for us, or when they go back to the scum. Where they came from has little relevance, (excepting Elliot. We shouldn't be partially developing players for teams we should be in direct competition with)

Has Law shown any signs of the "being afraid to get stuck in" etc we've heard about him? I've heard that his attacking performances have been good so far, but not as much about tracking back etc.

Hately at right back. Jennings in the holding role, "spraying" passes, with a 3 in front of him of Humph, Las, Law.

I just feel concerned that Hately's tackling from this position lets him down. It's as if he only knows how to send a man on his outside, and if they cut across he struggles. I find this magnifies when he plays centrally,

A fair point, but unfortunately, we are scrapping in the mid range SPL. That means players like Forbes need to toughen up or sink. Don't think that I promote that. I'd rather a boy that could pass a ball under pressure, than a beefcake, but it appears to me that Forbes' intelligence on the ball is a year or so behind, and I don't think we can afford him the gamble of that time.

Of course I am. How could I miss you lot, realistically,,, I want him to do well. I really do, I just fear that he doesn't have that in him consistently, and he just had a good patch (see Brian Kerr), As for Hately, I think he has been very poor in the middle. COMPARED TO his outstanding showings out wide. I think that he has the potential to be a truly stupendous right back, or a nothing midfielder. Good work, ya.....

Apologies. I was working on last season's evidence. Yet again, I hope he proves that he has 'it'. I just don't see it. Unlike a number of people (no accusations toward the forum), I have never boo-ed a motherwell player, or indeed team.
