Don't remember ever being so gutted that a player left (and I have nearly 35 years of supporting MFC under my belt).......and for the simple reason that I never expected it to happen. I wish Davie all the luck in the world - I couldn't be happier that in the last two years we saw him at his very best and he proved so many wrong. He stood tall when he was hurting on the inside and matured beyond belief. Sad to see him go, but can't blame him. Stuart.

Best of luck Davie - thanks for the memories. Stuart.

I hope tickets are on sale on the night as I'm going to need this option, was unable to get to the ticket office on Thurs night/Sat morning (the only times which would have been suitable for me). Don't want to miss this one. Stuart.

There was a lot of talk of this happening last year and when it was announced that David Clarkson would be wearing it it felt appropriate. He wasn't just "someone else" and him wearing the No 10 shirt was fitting. I would say now that we should retire that number. Stuart.

Daily Record In Lazy Journalism Shock!
EastStandWellFan replied to EastStandWellFan's topic in Club Chat
would his initials be TC by any chance Just had this reply : Stuart, as I have been forced to say to a lot of your fellow fans today, the truth is that I'm an idiot. Not only that, but I was actually at the Nancy game. The old brain just isn't what it used to be. Yours in trying to strive for accuracy yet blatantly failing, Neil Cameron Fair play to him for replying so quickly and admitting he is indeed 100% qualified to work for that paper! Stuart. -
Can't believe the Nancy trip was so long ago. Muppet I have emailed "Mr" Cameron - wonder if I will get a response. Stuart.

Companies can pay in any order they wish - there is no obligation to pay one company before another. However that all changes if they go into administration and there are set rules on the priority of creditors - the taxman is generally at the top of the list ! In this instance it's the issue that they defaulted on the SPL payment, and which technically the SPL could now pursue and bankrupt Setanta. Stuart.
-
If I were the SPL I'd want to know why Setanta paid the EPL £10m last week when they have £3m outstanding to the them. If I am correct, the EPL payment was in relation to the rights for the new season whereas the SPL money was owed for LAST season. Stinks to high heaven either way ! Stuart.

The first game with the Accies is away on November 7th..... that makes it the second most important match taking place in Hamilton that day......... Stuart.

Wooosh ! Stuart.

Yeh I know how opinion polls work, thanks. They use a sample which is a cross section of the population so is much more representative than the "closed" nature of this site - by which I mean non members have not been consulted but nevertheless make up the population of Motherwell fans. Stuart.

Have to be honest this "bandwagon" for Luc Nijholt leaves me a bit bemused. I have no opinion on him one way or the other - I just think some are getting a bit too carried away. In any event - only 85 people have voted for him out of 241. This site has 1,109 registered users - so less than a quarter of the users have voted. Also do not forget that a sizeable number of our supporters do not have internet access and then there are those who do but are not registered on this site. So to say that Nijholt is the fans choice is lacking any foundation. And I hope Well-Made is joking when he says that this site consists of "all the genuine and hardcore" fans. I know many who have been lifelong (and I'm talking 40-60 odd years) fans but have never been anywhere near this site. I'll give you the benefit of my doubt as I don't think it's valid to be starting a "who is a more genuine fan" debate. Stuart.

Who Will Follow Mcghee To Aberdeen ?
EastStandWellFan replied to EastStandWellFan's topic in Club Chat
Because Smith is a better keeper.... Stuart. -
Agreed. The European matches should now be looked upon as pre-season fixtures and the priority is a new management team geared for a successful SPL season, if we are still in Europe when the new format kicks in big-style then fair enough but for now it's not important - getting the right man in place is. Stuart.
-
Now that Mutley is offski who do you think will be likely to follow him. Obviously you would think Graeme Smith and Stephen Hughes being out of contract will be high on his list but what about some of the rest of our team. A number of people I have spoken to have suggested David Clarkson. I would be devastated if Clarky followed McGhee to Aberdeen - of the rest of the squad I'm not overly concerned. Thoughts ? Stuart.
-
What he said! When McGhee was appointed I said if we got two years out of him I'd be happy. The first six months of his reign were incredible but after Phil's death, the pitch issues and his dalliance with other jobs things started to fall apart. The Nancy trip will never be forgotten and is the shining light of last season (and many others). Too many costly errors of team selection in the latter half of season 08/09 - which I believe prevented a top 6 finish and a decent cup run. Thanks - time will tell the mess he's left us in player-wise, but I think we are still in a better position than when he joined us. Stuart.

My old employer is now reporting we're just about there stv Stuart.

Step forward Tommy McLean. In the words of the song...."Nobody does it better"!. Anyway, it looks as if we will be put out of our misery soon enough .... Clicky Stuart.
-
I generally find Scott Burns to be fairly accurate with his Motherwell stories - did I read somewhere he is a Well fan. Agree with the general sentiment on here that this is dragging on far too long and should it all go pear-shaped for McGhee with Celterdeen then he has lost the support of the fans. Stuart.
-
I'm going to say right now Craig Brown or Tommy McLean would be my choice - with a second in command being groomed to take over in a couple of seasons, whether that be Stephen Craigan or someone like that I'm not overly bothered. We need an experienced campaigner at the helm. Stuart.
-
Does Stuart Baxter actually exist ?? I always assumed that he was one of those mythical creatures like the Centaur. He was always being linked with jobs but you never actually saw him ! Stuart.

McGhee described missing out to George Burley as "a huge disappointment". (BBC report) I've been one of McGhee's biggest fans and said from day one if we got two good seasons out of him I'd be happy. I agree with Polomint though, his comments in yesterday's paper, together with the flirtation with Hearts last year and the above comments over the Scotland job clearly show that he has always had one eye on the door out. I said at the time he would have got the Scotland job had Phil not died. I have no hard feelings towards him - despite some of his more bizarre decisions which cost us in major games this year - he had us playing a brand of football I never thought I would see and he got us into Europe, which got me on my first MFC trip overseas - for that I will always be grateful. If, as is inevitable, he leaves I will thank him for 2 years which more than erased the painful Malpas season from the memory......but won't fall over myself wishing him all the best for the future......after all, in his own words Motherwell are the best team in the SPL outside the Old Firm ! Stuart.

assuming the shout is "NO WAY". Hamilton avoided relegation by four points - scoring the least amount of goals in the SPL and having the worst goal difference. He might be the darling of the media but I don't rate him at all. Stuart.
