Another 4 goal haul, Higgy x 2, Murphy x2

Now that European domination has been put on hold for another year for all down Fir Park way, here's a question... Had The Rangers debacle not unfolded, and we finished in the same position of third, thus entering the Europa League at the same stage Dundee United started at, would McCall's men have been better equipped/ stood a better chance of qualifying? Would they have been capable of winning their first tie, before advancing to the Levante round? Would there have been a difference in approach/attitude/belief at this juncture, or do you think the same way the Champs League then Europa were approached would have been taken? Would this have had as much if an impact on the reactionary fans within the boards here? Unbeaten after 4 SPL games, but slaughtering the team for abject performances against side's much better equipped than ourselves? With a cheeky wee Europa win over an Eserikehspor or someone of that ilk, would expectations have been higher or lower? Alternativey, would an opening round defeat defeat in the Europa, coupled with the same SPL start, ahve more folk clamouring to punt the likes of Humohrey, Ojamaa, Higdon et al? Purely a what if scenario, but would be interesting to see the responses... KJ

Fast was maybe the wrong word, what I meant was, the players weren't taking the time to play the game at their own tempo. Moreso against Pana. Eg, we get a free kick, they keep hold of ball, kick it away, moan at ref delay it to regroup. They get free kick, we back away, give them the ball back, allowing them to dictate the pace. Pana game, there were two or three free kicks in the middle of the park, that Law or Las took too quickly and just gave away possession, when taking a beat to. Alm things down would have been more beneficial. I agree we lack penetration, but a lot of that is due to trying to play the game too quickly. Balls up the right catching Humph on his heels, from Hately and Law last got went right out the park as well. In the SPL, we get away with it, but in Europe that kind of naivety has cost us.

He's a tireless worker, but his awareness so far this season has been poor. However, I don't feel he can be blamed for anything last night. It wasn't vintage OJ, but it wasn't is worst game. The best chance we had to make a game of it was when Humphrey got in behind and should have squared it to either Ojamaa, Law, Murphy or Higdon, but he chose to pass it to their goalie. But that's where the difference has been in the Euro games. Decision making at key moments has cost us, which is partly down to the amount of youth in the side, as well as naivety of how the Euro game is played. While Pana and Levante used delay tactics and were always in the refs ear, we try to do things too quickly and let decisions get the better of us. The Greks had a few mid 20s and over 30s while McCall's side averaged about 23/24. It's a learning curve for the likes of Ojamaa, Cummins, Kerr etc. things will come good in the league, OJ just needs a goal or an assist and he'll be back to his best. Starting Sunday.

Fantastic performance and result today. Feared the worst seeing as we hadn't won at Rugby Park for so long, but the boys went about the job well. Zaine looked comfortable going forward and back, Murphy was back to his best, and Hutchinson grows and grows with each game. Ramsden's injury will keep him out for Thursday, which is only downside, but Cummins made some great blocks, so shows we have good back up. Ojamma had his best game for a while as well, but needs to be less greedy, but just shows he's eager to get a goal from somewhere. Should have squared for Murphy when Flow and I were shouting at him to, but his running and harrying never stopped. The win was needed ahead of Thursday, for the confidence boost. There's no doubting it will be as you if not tougher than Pana, but with games under our belt and a somewhat settled side, I'm sure they'll go out and give their all. Roll on the Europa!

Cheers for the feedback Andy Dont know yet if the U20 games commentary is going to be a regular feature or not yet, but was fairly enjoyable this evening. It was decided fairly late on that Graham and I would be doing it ts evening, hence the later start. Usually we do 20-30 mins before the match, having thrown up some topics of conversation before hand. Likewise at half time we'll usually summarise game as well as other half times etc, but without that tonight we'd just have been rambling more than usual. If it is to be a regular thing, I'd imagine something would be put in place for the break, but unsure as yet. Was a bit of a struggle to begin with with Celtic's hoops and numbers hard to make out, but hopefully we got it as spot on as we could. KJ

Game finished 3-1 to Celtic this evening, Atajic with a retaken free kick, Fisher on a breakaway to mean 2-0 at half time. Craig Moore got us back in to it with a great finish after a brilliant pass from Asghar, then with about 10 minutes left they sealed it when Johnstone done Kerr with a Cruyff-esque turn and fired high past Hollis. Decent amount of bite and in the game, referee was inconsistent as ever...was the commentary working tonight? We cut out just after half time when the Ethernet cable came out, but we were off air for 30 seconds max, no half time "banter" either. KJ

Emphasis on the "hopefully" at the start of the sentence, in relation to #selloutsaturday. If we can get as big a crowd as possible cheering the lads on, then it would go a long way to spurring them on to a more entertaining performance than yesterday.

I think there was maybe an eye on possibly snatching something on Wednesday from McCall and the side yesterday, hence the lack of urgency and creativity. Getting a win was always going to be a hard ask, what with the positioning of the game between the 2 euro ties, the travel up, the relatively unknown opposition and of course the players heads being on Wednesday. They probably should have done more to bother Fraser though. It reminded me of the poor run of home form between September and November last year where we were far too shot shy. The neat play is nice to watch, but sometimes you just want to see someone have a dig, Ramsden was unlucky with his though. Come the St Johnstone game, I would hope that the lads take whatever happens in Athens on board and react as positively as they can. The Saints will come to Fir Park minus Tade, and looking for their first Win since before the split last season. Ojamaa has caused the problems each time he's played against them, so I'd expect more of the same next week, Hopefully Greece won't take too much out of the players and the fans, as a sell out crowd will also push the lads on to a result.

Not as depressing as not being able to go out to Athens and do the commentary, I assure you... Hopefully we'll have seen the tie sewn up on Tuesday meaning that there's a further Champ's League game that won't conflict with my fiancées mates wedding. Could be some night in JD's or the Electric if they can get a feed for it.

For first time in an eternity, here is a new installment of the KJ WellCast... http://soundcloud.com/krisjack/kj-wellcast-2604 This week's has the ling awaited Sieb Dykstra Twinterview, Alistair Morton's take on the run in, Laney Ferg's rundown of last weekend, and the usual shoddy editing... Go have a listen ahead of tomorrow's crunch game against St Johnstone! As always, I encourage feedback, good or bad, and if there is anyone you'd like me to track down for the next Twinterview, then leave suggestions here please! KJ

While we'd all be gutted if we ended up chucking away 3rd place, this thread lighting up at this stage in the season is laughable. We've been out of the Top 3 for 2 weeks all season, a position that a team of our budget, support and stature would need to be performing exceptionally well to have any idea of maintaining over the course of the season. At times, yes, we have had dips in form, like we do every year. December - January is always dire for us, whether it is games being called off disrupting the flow, managers telling us they'll stay then bugger off, or just the fatigue of the first half of the season catching up. I predict now, that come Christmas 2012, there will be another drop in performances by the players, it just happens. But to suggest that McCall should go? That is a ridiculous thing to be coming out with. The players are clearly tired, as barring injury and suspensions, the team has pretty much been the same XI all year. Had we the depth in squad that other teams have, then maybe Stu could have mixed it up, but that may have been at the detriment of some of the good play that was going on. There are far more managers in the SPL who have under-delivered this season that should be on the list of bosses to go far before McCall. Aberdeen missed out on Top Six, where we always hear is a place they should be. Sack Brown. Hibernian have won 1 game at home all season, albeit they are in the Cup Final, while still in threat of relegation. Sack Fenlon. Rangers chucked a 15 point lead before their troubles began. Sack McCoist. There's 3 that have had far worse seasons than we have, yet there are few folk calling for them to be sacked. If we do bottle 3rd, then McCall will no doubt accept some of the blame for it along with the players, but we shouldn't be looking to get rid of the man. He's still a relatively young manager and will make mistakes from time to time, but you can't just bin him for what has been on the whole, a better than average season for us. if we were fighting it out with Hibs and Dunfermline and bottling staying up, then maybe there would be legitimate calls for his mulleted head, but with everything still to play for in the hunt for Champion's League football, we should be getting behind the manager, not pillorying him for a few bad results here and there. 3rd is ours to lose, but I still think we'll win it.

brilliant, will be getting on to the folks for this for a birthday present methinks...

it's only showing the away Keeper option on there, is it the same to bid for any position?
-
strange one that, I know that my mrs and her dad havent had any issues listening, they always seem to get the full screed of Graham's ref baiting and my fidgety colour commentary before and during the games. likewise, i have had no issues with sound quality on interviews or 10 yard challenge or that... I have found though that if I am watching at work, I need to use my email address to log in, yet at home, i can use my username or email address. despite the snags, it is a really good product and a lot more in depth than what other clubs are putting out.

With the exception of Saturday at Parkhead, the online commentary is mostly live from 230pm every week and is fairly easy to access as far as I am aware. Has here been many issues with it not working for people? KJ

No Podcast this week, due to "real job" taking precedent...however, there is a Blog, if anyone is interested.... http://kjwellblog.blogspot.com/2012/02/motherwell-fc-fairly-draught-free.html It's my thoughts on Henrik Ojamaa, Jamie Murphy and the transfer window in general, as well as looking forward to this weekend's Cup tie with Morton. Podcast should be back next week for those who listen, with another Twinterview with a former Well player, who has recently linked up with a former MFC manager again... Up The Well! KJ

http://soundcloud.co...j-wellcast-2601 Myself and Mr Jamie Barnes discuss (via Skype no less) Motherwell's 4 points from the last 2 games. Topics of discussion are Higgy's "gesture", Ojamaa's gunslinging and reliable Randolph. Well Random this week looks at 2 foreigners who failed to live up to their billing, and allows us to evaluate other dynamic duos from Fir Park folklore.Meanwhile Elaine stumbles through my well written Dundee United report, making it 1-1 in messing up that part of the podcast! Up the Well!

[Alright Steelmen looking for contributions for last weeks Podcast, with regards to the Well Random section of it... Last week's can be heard here http://tinyurl.com/756wcou if you havent checked it out, albeit it is now a bit dated... This week, i will be talking about the blink-and-you-missed- them pairing of Franz Resch and Mario Doerner, so any facts/trivia/made up (non libellous) stories anyone has about them would be appreciated, as well as suggestions for any other double acts who would fit in around Fir Park way and why... Anyone who gets back to me will get namechecked on the poddy for their efforts, so if anyone feels like helping out, either leave a message here or tweet me at @krisjack85 and hashtag it #WellRandom Cheers Kris

This week's episode is now available here: http://soundcloud.com/krisjack/the-kj-wellcast-1801 46 minutes of chat with fellow Well fan and "star" of ITV's Take Me Out, Alistair Morton, Elaine returns to read a rather poorly written match report from the Inverness game, and there's an interview done via the medium of Twitter with Steven McGarry (played by Morton). Well Random makes it's debut in the form of Holm Kraska... Enjoy folks! KJ
-
cheers buddy, it will get better the more i do it, need to stop eeeeeehhhhing all the way through it though. Hopefully my commentary stints on MFCTV will help curb that... KJ

Hey All Although there's been no comments on this thread, but it's been viewed a fair few times, i imagine some of you will have leant your hears to my podcast... looking for a little bit of help with this weeks, which may tie in with another thread I saw on here before... I'm having a feature called Well Random where I'm looking for the most obscure Motherwell players folk can think of, and at least 1 fact to go along with them, whether true/false/made up, as long as it's not libellous. So far I've had Holm Kraska, rumoured to have been signed as a midfielder, but was rumoured to have actually been a basketball player and Daniel Sengewald, who allegedly had Christmas dinner with former administrator Brian Jackson. If anyone can come up with any better ones, let me know and you'll get a name check on the podcast.... KJ

Alright folks, here's a link to my latest installment of the KJ WellCast on SoundCloud! http://soundcloud.co...cast-with-laney The first of 2012, it looks back at last weeks win over Queen's Park, looks forward to the weekend game with Inverness, and includes an interview with Elaine Ferguson, who like many of you probably have, is a Motherwell Fan WAG. Go have a listen, give me your thoughts and feedback. Not as rough sounding as past ones, but new software means I've been able to cut and shut and add in jongles, for that more professional feel...

Season Ticket Holders Half-Price Sale In The Club Shop
Kris-A-Goalda replied to awp's topic in Club Chat
Are there any L or M sizes in the black bench style jackets worn by the media team ins tock? Flow picked me up an XL one for my reporting duties, but it is massive on, wondering if I could do a swop... -
It's just something to do. I'm trying to push on with building up a media portfolio for personal gain, and doing my blog and the podcasts are good ways to go about it. It also hopefully gives other Well fans something to enjoy and in time contribute to. I'm possibly going to set up a Facebook page where I can post all my stuff in one place, or encourage people to leave comments on the blog regarding it. It's rough and unedited and sounds like pub chat, but I enjoy doing it, and hopefully you guys enjoy listening. Up the Well! KJ
