It's one of the most important appointments in recent years, given the on the park transition the new man will need to oversee as we eventually move on from the Lasley/Hammell/McManus era. Can't afford to get this wrong...
Good interview with Johnny Gahagan on the wing in the Herald today - http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/14962126.The_big_interview__John_Gahagan_on_football__filthy_jokes_and_life_on_the_after_dinner_circuit/?ref=rss
He did get a shout - could clearly hear Samson shouted "away" from where I was in the Main Stand, when the keeper should have been best placed of all to see the Accies player had slipped so Tait had time.
Probably nonsense, but heard a bit of chat when leaving on Saturday that his absence from the team since the Aberdeen game relates to him not committing to a new deal. Agent has some other clubs interested apparently, Hibs were mentioned.
This was cracking and well worth a listen via the podcast. Mainly cup run focussed but a couple of other nuggets in there too, eg Kirkie wanting to replace an injured John Gardiner in goals in the 86 Skol Cup semi for the penalties. If only he had!
Guessing his track record for working with an existing backroom team as opposed to making wholesale changes would appeal to the club given the overhaul behind the scenes this year.
I'd add St Mirren at home to that list. But that 5-0 win was then followed up by one of the most dismal performances you're likely to see in the return at their place post split.
Far from impressive at Hibs? Left them in the top 6. Hibs was/is a bit of a basket case of a club. My worry when I read last night about his Hibs days was the propensity to fire long balls up to Fletcher but that would be in stark contrast to the decent stuff his Killie side played.
