2018'19 Game 8: Livingston (H) Saturday 6th October 2018
Yoshi-1991 replied to Andy_P's topic in Club Chat
The thing that worries me is that the club have left it longer that they should have several times in the past, so I don't see this time being any different. It took for protests outside the main stand half way through the game before McGhee got the hook, which was beyond ridiculous that it took for that for the club to take action. Robinson clearly isn't good enough, as sorry as I am to say that, because he is a likable guy. I would hate for it to take another fan protest before the club take notice, because despite not being good enough, I don't think Robinson deserves that. I just hope someone at the top is willing to make the tough decisions. -
I cant remember ever seeing a Motherwell manager ever "turn it around", giving him time is only going to give us time to slip further, fresh ideas is what is needed.

2018'19 Game 7: Kilmarnock (A) Saturday 29th September 2018

We are rotten -
The way we are playing right now reminds me of how we were playing under McCall just before he left, no energy, no ideas, no creativity.

Sooooooooooo...... Craig Shybald? Too obvious?

20 quid and you can paint it on me Ayr United style.

So we have had 2 large crowds at the finals this season, and also bumper support for the semi finals as well. It has got me thinking again of that old topic of support. The fact we sold out our allocation for the final goes to show there are "potential" numbers that are not showing up during the season. The question comes up again of why? Obviously within this you have your day trippers, that will only come out for the finals. People who used to be regulars who have now dropped away is also a contributing factor. Sprinkled in are the neutrals and the fans of "other" teams. But it begs the question, what could be done to turn the part timers and day trippers into more regular supporters, could the club be doing more? For me, there have been a few things that stand in the way of the casual supporter. First off, the cost. When I started going to Fir Park I went with a few friends, then with my cousin and my Dad, who I then went with for around 10 years or so. My cousin is now firmly in the "Scottish football is pish" camp and would rather watch the English football on TV than go to a Scottish game. For my Dad, its the money aspect, he can't justify to himself paying 20-30 quid a game. I am sure that most people on this forum have similar experiences with people that used to go and now don't. The second problem is mentality. I think a lot of people treat going to the football as a day out, the same as the cinema, bowling or whatever. Trying to get them to switch from day out to thinking of it as more of a hobby is something quite difficult. The third issue I find, and it is something the club could do something about very easily, is that the football is not in the minds of the community in the large scale. Unless you are a football fan, the fact that there is a game on doesnt even cross your mind, and it would cross your mind to find out. The club could be doing with increasing their PR and getting people thinking about the football. Unless you drive past the Fir Park area on Match day you would have no idea there is a game on in the town. Advertisement space is available almost everywhere now, information of when and where the team are playing should be displayed across the town every week. Hiring a few advertisement boards with dates and kick off times of the next few matches and a bit of Motherwell colour about them wouldnt cost all that much in the grand scheme of things. Even have people handing out flyers in the town centre a few days before a home game with maybe a 10% off ticket price when you take it in to the ticket office kind of deal. This is more of a vent but I was wanting to open up the discussion. I know its been talked to death before but with the crowds we have been taking to finals and semi finals its fresh in the mind again. Also the fact that the season is over and we have fuck all to talk about for the next several weeks.

I would ha e thought Tait would have been the natural successor, wouldn't say no to Hartley though.

Left side needs looking at and as others have said, McHugh has been found wanting this season, problem is how do you address it? Sensitive area to tell your captain he's not good enough.

I commend those who stayed behind but I make no apologies for leaving before the whistle, and had nothing to do with our team, I just simply couldn't handle watching those scumbags celebrating. -

I'm not being funny but I can't wrap my head around happy clappers, the " wasn't ment to be patter" just get me wound up, we never showed up and apart from a 15 minute spell Celtic were bang average, we just shat it. I think today just proves to all that McHugh litteraly gets a start because he is captain. To be captain and be taken off so early in a final just shows where he should be in the pecking order, if it wasn't for the arm band he would have been warming the bench half the season. Half of this is just salt rambling but I need to vent. -

Some woman getting it tight on twitter because she was offering to buy Celtic fans tickets in the Motherwell end. All a bit pointless seeing as its a sell out anyway but still somewhat funny. -
Think I heard somewhere it was Bowman but I could be wrong here.

My feelings about this one have been up and down, at times I think we might just do it, then at other times I've got the utter fear. Right now, I genuinely believe we will do it. I was 3 months old the last time we won a cup, so can't exactly remember it. I can fully appreciate the wonderful memories people have of that day, but now I want my own. -

Seen on Twitter there are a few Celtic fans saying they got their tickets from Motherwell. Bit disappointing. Can only hope they enjoy trying to hide their glum expressions when we score.
