  1. May well be an unpopular opinion but im just chucking it out there... As much as I love the guy, I think we as Motherwell fans think much more of Louis Moult than anyone outside the club does. I wouldn't be surprised if he's still here after the window, as I don't think any buying club will value him anywhere close to whatever we do. I think his connection and rapport with the fans and the club, makes us significantly over-value him.
  2. When people get annoyed that we haven't signed enough players, and that we've signed too many players, it's so hard to figure out what I'm supposed to think.
  3. I totally agree. There's nothing wrong with "bringing someone in" if your success rate is relatively decent, but there's not a chance that we'd be any worse off if instead of Blyth/Bowman/Clay/Lucas/Fletcher/Kennedy etc, we'd just had a bit more of Campbell/MacLean/McMillan/Hastie/Gordon/Turnbull. Then you've got the likelyhood that at least one of them (probably more) would have come good and either enhanced the side hugely, or developed enough to sell on to someone. Even if the worst case scenario happened and they all turned out to not cut it, we wouldn't be any worse off on the park and we'd be a helluva lot better off financially through money saved on wages. Edit to say...before the utter pedants on here jump on it, those player lists aren't like-for-like comparisons, just young home-grown players Vs comparatively expensive signings.
  4. As it stands, Hearts, Kilmarnock, Dundee and Hamilton all heading out.
  5. Ainslie Park, Spartans ground.
  6. We're not playing at Meadowbank Stadium.
  7. I think that actually backs up Weeyin's point to be fair. Seems to me all you're doing is pointing out that it wasn't just our players that didn't care about the score. These games are a set of bibs away from bibs v skins at the end of training. Robinson has even said in interviews they are purposely holding intensive training sessions before some of the games. That's to put the players into a position where their body is tired at the start of a game, pushing through fitness plateau's. The cardio equivalent of pre-exhausting a muscle in the weight room. You'd have to be mad to pre-exhaust a muscle and then get annoyed that you couldn't push the same amount of weight, the whole point is to get you into a position where you can't.
  8. Not sure I could ever understand what the keeper was thinking there but still, that's a tidy finish from Bowman.
  9. Fair enough, it makes absolutely no difference to me whether you buy it or not. You're last sentence is a result of some spectacular mis-reading though.
  10. I think the thing that you're overlooking though, and the point that is being made, is that if you offer Moult increased terms for scoring goals, you're going to have Tait and Frear knocking the door asking where their increased terms are for providing the assists for the goals, Cadden phoning asking where's his increased terms if the club don't want him moving on, McManus and Hammell looking for increased terms as they are senior players, vice captains. Sticking to a wage structure isn't just about staying within your financial means, it's about balancing the wages across the playing staff so as not to piss anyone off. There seems to be a significant number of people on here who are quite happy to create a dressing-room full of unhappy players. You might think Louis Moult is better than the above mentioned players and therefore deserves it, but I guarantee you the above mentioned players don't agree with you, especially when money is involved. If you think any of them would be fine with a "let's pay Louis a ton of cash so he'll stay" approach, then you're dreaming.
  11. Quick question to the people that are advocating giving extra money to certain players to get them to stay, I'm assuming you're all quite happy to field the questions from all the other senior players as to why? What a happy and contented dressing room you're all planning here....

Notorious poster suggests copyrighting clapping. People still think he's being serious. I'm a fan of his work.
  13. I pretty much have the same goal every season. Win more games than we lose, and score more goals than we concede. That should be the base and then see what we can do beyond that.
  14. I have absolutely no basis for this other than a feeling, but I have a hunch we'll see a return to being reasonably decent again next season.
  15. Boggles my brain that there are Motherwell fans that wouldn't jump at the chance of Kyle Lafferty at Fir Park.

    Thanks Scott

In fairness I never said we were good that admin season, I just said I enjoyed a lot of it. More generally and not related to Steelboy's quote, I also never criticised McDonald or said he wasn't quality, I just said I never really took to the guy and don't really have any kind of emotional affinity with him. I find him fairly annoying tbh. He's that guy at your work that's great at what he does and you appreciate his work while he's there, but you're not overly bothered when he leaves because he's also a pain in the arse.

    Thanks Scott

    Not for us he didn't.

    Thanks Scott

Not particularly, no. But then there's a lot of other things factored into my affinity with McFadden, such as watching him progress up through the youth team, his Scotland exploits, seeing one of our own playing in the Premiership, and also the season we finished bottom being up there with some of the most enjoyable games I've ever seen. Again just to re-iterate I'm not denying McDonald's quality, it's just his time at the club has coincided with us being absolutely terrible to watch so I don't overly have any emotive link to him.

    Thanks Scott

I don't for a second deny his qualities, but like someone else said earlier I've just never taken to the guy. Maybe part of it is to do with the fact that every Motherwell side he's played in has been god-awful, I just don't really associate him with much that's enjoyable. Coincidence obviously, but our phases of terrible team/good team/terrible team have almost exactly matched Scott McDonald at the club/not at the club/back at the club.

Higdon has rattled in a few in his time.
  21. This forum was started up and ran by about 6 of us back in the day, and every single one of us works for the club now apart from 5 of us, so it just shows you anything can happen.
  22. In fairness he admitted that was the plan when he took the job. He said it wouldn't be pretty but get to the end of the season still in the league, and the plan for next season will be very different. Everyone seemed happy enough with that and in agreement....until it actually happens and everyones raging.
