McGhee's time at Aberdeen was solely a result of the players of the time trying to refuse two training sessions a day, training on a Sunday etc. He was trying to take them somewhere and they didn't want to go....the exact opposite of the response he got from the Motherwell players. In my opinion, his failure at Pittodrie was due to the players there at the time just not wanting to work hard, and he carried the can for it.

BBC website reporting it as imminent.

My main memory of Simo is him never scoring the whole time he was at Fir Park...in fact he had a spell where his shooting was starting to bring down the Motorola sign in stages. Then he bagged one on his debut for Derby!
-
I think McGhee would have a field day with Marvin on one side, Lionel on the other, and Moult, Fletcher and McDonald as his options up front.

If the McGhee chat is true, I will be a happy chap.

Mind when you just used to go and watch the fitba' and that was it? When you start concerning yourself with the staff's holidays it's time to find yourself a wee life from somewhere.

His dinosaur views better be checked in the interview process, and the answer better be Stegosaurus.

Thierry Henry?

We are way beneath where Paul Lambert will be looking for his next job, by absolutely miles.

Indeed, and I don't really disagree...however to be fair the club doing their business so swiftly was completely unexpected in this house, which I would have included as the ideal option for me. I fully expected Baraclough to be in the job against Partick and Dundee and to lose them both, so my thoughts were based around a change happening between Dundee and Celtic at the earliest. As it's turned out we have the chance to have that "bounce" from two winnable games coming up, and lessen the impact of the Celtic and Aberdeen games. Best case scenario under the circumstances...not often we can say that. Good that we have taken action quickly.

Mixu Burley McGhee In no particular order of preference, but we should be actively approaching all three aside from whatever applications we receive. All would bring the potential for vast improvement and I believe the club should be sounding out their interest, and listening intently to what each would bring to the table if they were. Those 3 guys are capable of making the type of difference we need.

It's already been announced who it is. Craigan with Robinson assisting.

Teckle! Jetpacks all round.

Two (potentially) good wingers with plenty pace? Plethora of strikers that should be scoring more than they do? Under-achieving midfielders? Mark McGhee would have a field day with that....

Im talking about on a personal level, as opposed to the view when the fans wanted someone like Malpas out....terrible at his job and just came across as a terrible guy. I agree there was a cross-section of people that never embraced Baraclough as manager, but I would imagine most would (and probably still would) stand and have a pint with him. I would imagine if he is ever the manager of another side that played us, he would probably be made fairly welcome at Fir Park. We would also more than likely be glad of a relatively easy 3 points...but I am sure there would be none of the animosity that you would expect towards a former manager that literally EVERYONE wanted out. Good guy in the wrong job that was too big for him.

Genuinely didn't think we would do that, but glad we have taken action. It's a strange one as I genuinely think across the fanbase there's no actual dislike, which is rare when getting rid is such a sweeping view, but I think for the most part everyone really liked him and wanted things to work out, I certainly did. Just a case of good guy who didn't have what was needed.
-
Im up for that. This club should be all about achieving things that we haven't done in the past, and being thumped 7-0 by County is definitely on that list.

I'm hoping he's here for another 5/6 weeks. The last thing I want is a new guy coming in and being hit with Celtic and Aberdeen as his first two games as you would have to think we will lose them regardless. IF a new guy comes in it has to be set up to have the most positive possible start...and removing even the possibility of a new manager bounce with two potential pumpings is not the way to go. If we're going to lose them anyway, i'd rather just stick with the status quo now, and then have a new guy kicking off against Killie, where there's at least the possibility of a result to kick us off on a more positive note.

Now before I say this I want to clarify that I am by no means saying Scottish Football is brilliant (although I do think it's much better than it's portrayed to be, even by our own media and governing body), or that Motherwell FC are any kind of powerhouse within the Scottish game, but whilst I was still on Bara's side for longer than some, I have held this opinion since very early 2015 and still think it's the root cause of the problem: I think Ian Baraclough has VASTLY underestimated the Scottish game, and also our level as a club. I think his ideas on tactics or generally how to play are nowhere near the standard required for this league, and his eye for a player would possibly be good at around the level of lower championship/league 1. I genuinely believe he's looked at this job offer, weighed it up with what he thinks is the standard of the Scottish game, and is now realising that he was miles out. In a way I feel sorry for him...as it's not entirely his fault. He's just made an error of judgement that is now being shown up in a major way, but the comparison I can draw is that it reminds me of "that mate" everyone has that is a fantastic player at 5's and everyone including himself is thinking he could make it as a pro....and then they get a chance to play against pro players and get an absolute roasting. The difference is that when that guy's brain goes "aw no....", he can just head back to play 5's realising his mistake and putting up with his mates all laughing at him. I genuinely believe Baraclough had his "aw no..." moment a long time ago and has been hoping he can get away with it. "You don't know what you're doing" is a common chant in football, but I actually suspect that due to his underestimation of the Scottish game, he genuinely doesn't know what he's doing at this level....and he knows it.

If 8 months is your idea of knee-jerk, I'd hate to have you making my dinner in a slow cooker, I'd be deid by the time it was ready.

Also spending tonight in the house following the late drive home from Methil and an expected repeat coming up at best. Even that is seeming optimistic....

It astounds me that you think negativity is the reason you get criticized.
