Of course I did, but you're just ignoring the fact that following it I said it was a comment based on my opinion of the low quality on the park, rather than any high quality in the fanbase. Disagreeing is fair enough, and i'd expect that...but ignoring half of what I say so that it changes the meaning of the other half is just being contradictory for the sake of it. I didn't, I said naturally gifted footballer...which is hugely different. But again, be selective...change the meaning...contradict...same old same old....
-
If you don't agree, fair enough...there's plenty people that don't. Although It's hardly an unusual viewpoint to think that the standard required to turn professional in this country is lower than it should be. But to quote a line that actually says "I'm not saying there are guys in the stands who should be professionals", and then try to contradict by saying that it's stupid to suggest there's guys in the stand who should be professionals...doesn't make you sound like you disagree, it makes you sound like a pedantic wee hoop that doesn't pay attention to what people are saying.
-
Sorry to once again jump into your ongoing mission to try and contradict as many people as you possibly can, but instead of just quoting the post you did...try reading it instead, particularly the last line.
-
Also to clarify just after reading Jam20's post there...im more commenting about the talent and ability on the park being lower than it should be for a professional footballer, rather than there being 100's of amazing players sitting in the stands. There will obvoiusly be loads of guys who were decent but for one reason or another didn't make it, thems just the breaks, but Im not saying there are guys in the stands who should be professionals. Im saying there are guys who are professionals that shouldn't be.

Where did I mention 5's? Anyone can look decent playing 5-a-side. My dad's a decent 5's player still...and he's 57. If you want to go down that route though then the flipside of that is James Fowler of Killie. Don't know if he still does but he used to play regularly with his mates in a weekly league at Forthbank Astro...didn't look like he shouldn't be there, yet is coming up for a testimonial with an SPL club. It's more to do with the scouting network in this country being very poor for the most part, what the scouts are looking for in a young player etc.

Really? You don't think theres guys sitting in the stand at St Mirren park who earn mnimum wage in a normal day job, who are better than a bunch of guys that were with Cowdenbeath last season but are now earning an SPL wage? That's a waste of money for guys that just arent good enough at the game to justify it. You seriously think there's season ticket holders at Caledonian Stadium that dream of being as good as Ross Tokely? Did you SEE Jerel Ifil while he was playing for Aberdeen and probably picking up about 3 grand a week? The game is riddled with Kerry Katona syndrome. People picking up a decent wage who in an alternative reality would be working in Tesco.
-
Maybe that explains why so many are in a fucker of a bad mood when they get there.

Typed my last post in a reasonable hurry, but just to clarify im referring more to quality across the game, rather than squad numbers. There are too many guys in the SPL who are picking up a wage as a professional footballer, who in terms of ability should be nowhere near doing so. As clubs cut back financially...these guys are the first to suffer as they have nothing to make them desirable. I'd expect every single SPL club (possibly outside the Old Firm), has season ticket holders that are better footballers than at least a couple of their first team squad.
-
The problem is that there are too many full-time professional footballers now. Guys that should be nowhere near making a living from the game, who are. Used to be the case that only the best players had a hope of getting taken on as a professional, and even then a lot of the best ones didn't make it, but these days it's comparatively easy to get some kind of contract somewhere and it's saturated the game with shite footballers taking professional wages from clubs. THATS why theres a load of footballers on the scrapheap...it's not solely because clubs are cutting back....it's because they have entered a profession in which they aren't good enough to be required, so when cuts are made, they are the first to struggle to find work. Clubs don't have money to waste on "filler".

I recently saw recent footage of the most recent tournament, but to be honest it's not been as good recently.

Nae shit! Did you get Columbo to figure that one out for you?
-
I'll no be there. I've seen Ross mcCormack plenty of times and him aside, I couldn't name you a single Leeds player. Aside form that, friendlies are boring turgid shite.

Craig Brown has already said Stevie Smith won't be returning to Pittodrie

Never heard of him.

It's still an asset though. If you can sell it for money to repay a loan, then it's classed as an asset. The bank don't care if it leaves you without anywhere to play....that would be our problem. Like, if you own a car and sell it...you still have to then buy a new one, but while it's yours it's an asset. By your way of thinking the only thing that could be classed as an asset would be something that you didn't need... Anyway it's a bit of a redundant point as the freeholding of the stadium was part of what JB gifted to the club when he stepped down.
-
The reasoning you've been given is nonsense...we're one of the few smaller clubs in the league who have considerable assets...owning our own ground and the land it's built on, over and above what money we make. It's true that following administration we don't have a credit rating however, which would more than likely prevent us from being given an overdraft, although this woudn't be indefinite though. Our credit rating will slowly be building back up again as we trade responsibly.

That's a belter. Theres a few guys around me in the Cooper who do exactly the same thing. "Fuck sake! Why no just put it in the net?" is another great shout from within my earshot. Genius tactic, dunno why teams don't use it.

Im convinced The Lip caught his wife having a threesome with Leeann Dempster and the Archbishop of Canterbury. It's the only rational explanation that covers all his irrational hatred.

Remember the first one? Playing footy with the Turtle ball while crossing the road outside the Thackit!

You'll not have a problem getting in at the gate mate, assuming they will just open our South Stand which will more than accommodate everyone travelling up, no need for tickets or registration i'd say.

Nah definitely St Mirren. Tom Hendrie was the manager at the time, and Ronaldinho had signed the deal to move from Brazil to Paris St. Germain, and wanted some playing time before that to get used to being in Europe. There was some kind of passport scandal in Brazil at the time though, and the Brazilian FA were delaying all clearance, which caused them to miss the transfer window by about a day or something.
-
You've tane that too far.
-
A paperwork issue surrounding a passport preventing Ronaldinho signing a loan deal at St Mirren in 2001 is another cracker, and completely true!

Didn't know about Peggy Arphexad, but the goalie that was on the same fax as Solskjaer was Frode Grodas who ended up going to Chelsea. I believe Tore Andre Flo was also on the fax, with all 3 being unknown at the time and touted at 350,000 each, which was (rightly) deemed too much for us. Obviously their careers would have ended up being very different, and they wouldn't have become the players they did, but saying that though...if Boyle had come in a few years earlier than he did, his revolution could have funded a period that was a helluva lot more interesting than Goram, Strong, Ready, Dow, Brannan and Spencer! Incidentally the best "what if" or "you're an idiot" in the SPL has to go to Aberdeen, who had both Thierry Henry and Robert Pires on trial when they were 15, and deemed neither of them to be good enough.
