With Paterson out tomorrow night I would think SOD will probably start, I am certainly not confident of getting a result to be honest, but it would be nice to get a result if he plays
Ojala yesterday looks promising he had a few scary moments ( still not sure who was supposed to be marking Ashcroft for the winner) but it was his first game so hopefully he will improve.
Shields I think he will come good, he is certainly not scared of having a go at goals, but probably need to persevere with him, even King Louis when he arrived took a couple of months to start scoring, so patience is required (I hope)
I disagree, I thought he had good first half although unlucky when hitting the bar when should have placed into any of the corners, I am sure he will come good as he is not scared of having a shot on goal and the more game time will help him.
if you had said our midfield was mince then I would agree!
I noticed that Malmö last night not happy with Alan McGregor handling the ball outside his box and only getting a yellow card, just remind us of Carson 4 years ago against St Johnstone getting sent off for allegedly handling outside the box, what is the ruling on the goalkeepers handling the ball outside the box, maybe a different ruling from UEFA and SFA?
Trevor was also booked for holding the ball more than six second rule, must be the only goalkeeper in Scotland to have been punished for this ruling yet most goalkeepers do break this rule continuously every week!
On the commentary for the live game they said that St Johnstone were allowed 5,000 fans as we had no fans inside looking at the stands there would be lucky to have half of that figure, I would say St Johnstone missed the opportunity for approximately 1,000 paying away fans!
I see Jordan Roberts has been told to find another club, have to say wasn’t over impressed when he signed for us last season but proved me wrong, wonder if GA is keen to bring him back, but I believe there is suppose to be a couple of English sides might be interested in him or maybe his agent is spreading that around!
Probably much the same team maybe with Ojala coming in unfortunately I had to miss Sunday’s game due to being down South, not sure who he would replace, possibly Lamie?
I see St Mirren v Hearts game has been switched from Saturday to Monday 9th August in order to get a bigger crowd (Hearts fans)
Unfortunately cannot see St Johnstone doing this?
Apart from injuries I think the team will pick itself apart from the left wing back, personally I would go for Carroll
Kelly
O’Donnell, Mugabe, Lamie,Carroll
Slattery, Donnelly, McGuire
Watt, Van Veen & Woolery
I would agree in fact St Mirren have a half decent central defender, he’s called Charlie Dunne !!
I know Polworth fell out with GA big time but I would have him back as at least he could create the openings for forwards and we simply don’t have that type of player at the moment.
It was a strange game in terms of performances for us but being sitting in the John Hunter stand at the opposite ends of the goals it was difficult to see if anyone was at fault for goals conceded.
I personally didn’t think there was any bad performances but was impressed with Van Veen, Lawless Watt, Lamie and Woollery who changed the game for us.
Donnelly who definitely looks as he has lost weight should improve in every game he plays when match fit.
Stephen O’Donnell didn’t have a great game but his crossing of the ball was woeful and should look at Woollery in how to cross a ball!!
