  1. And wouldn’t it be good if we were the ones selling him. Seems like a good deal to me. We either have a quality player on the books or we make a few quid selling him on after getting the benefit of his services for the rest of this season. I’m thinking it would be making a few quid
  2. I’m reading that Celtic looking for $400k for Welsh. If he can accept lower wage at Motherwell, short term, We could get him and sell him on for more than that.
  3. Indeed! 11 games (1 round of fixtures) to the split and we are 12 points (+bunch of goals) ahead of 7th spot. If we have a good start to this round of fixtures it will be hard to knock us out of the top six.
  4. Welcome to Motherwell, Eythor. I hope you are a raging success!!
  5. geez!! I had already forgot about Cook. When will we get him back. I think he is a great player to have in our squad.
  6. Our main area to strengthen is striker. We can makeshift cover at CB, to a lesser extent at left back but it would be good to have player whose first positions is CB and player whose first position is LB. Striker, left back, centre back, and if we can afford it, a good quality midfielder who would be in contention for a starting slot and not just one to make up numbers.
  7. Keep Looking for confirmation on the striker but not yet. all very quiet but that’s ok. I think JBA is pleased with the squad he has and any additions will be a strengthening of the squad and not like previous years where we get bodies in the door but no better than what we had. From a financial perspective it would be good to move players on that are not in JBA’s plans but easier said than done.
  8. This is where all the focus has to be, on this game. Not on cup dreams or transfer speculation. Going into the third round of fixtures and most seasons we have at least one round of fixtures where we struggle. 2 good rounds already so we need to play even better to have a good third round and hopefully keep us well in contention for top 4 spot. two teams above us play each other (Hearts v Celtic) and two teams below us play each other (Falkirk v Hibs) so if we take care of our business it could be a great day for us.
  9. Definitely agree with your statement about trying to sign a permanent CB. We should be trying for both, plus if there is a reasonable way to get Welsh permanent I’d be all for that as well.
  10. We have 16 league games left and he can’t play in two of them. Played 22 from total of 38. We have 2 already played Celtic twice so only 2’gamws against them if we are top 6.
  11. I’m not quite sure why Celtic played him. They just locked him into Celtic or Motherwell. Do Celtic plan on playing him? To me, it looks like they really don’t want to play him, so are they going to be out 10 grand a week for nothing? Seems like it is to everyone’s advantage, Celtic, Welsh, Motherwell, for him to complete the season at Fir Park. From our point of view it’s good that he can’t join another Scottish club and play against us this season. I really would like to see him come back here for the rest of the season.
  12. I assume for this game we won’t be fielding a team like we did yesterday.
  13. I was hoping one of the arse checks would get that kind of draw
  14. It looks like Celtic (not Welsh) have knocked back a few bids for him over several years so I’m not really sure what the their position is with him. They could save themselves about 780000 pounds by letting him go now instead of keeping him till end of contract or Let him play with us for remainder of season amd then actually sell him for some good money, saving part of his wages from this season plus last season of his contract. If they clearly don’t want him they should cut their losses.
