I hope you’re wrong 😀 nothing wrong with moving the ball forward quickly but it’s one thing playing balls that are 90% likely for us too get versus 50/50 at best. Interesting stat on the more shots on goal but I’d be interested to see stats on number of saves for our keeper. Ward had many games where he had zero saves or just one save. My impression this season is that Paulson has made a lot of saves although V St Johnstone I think he only had one save. Time will tell what style he favors. I’m hoping it’s the hybrid JBA/AJ style.

I’m not sure I know what his preferred style is. I did mention in my post regarding the early season games where the team had a good balance of possession but, compared to JBA style, we were more willing to shoot from around the box or whip in crosses. I thought that was going to be his style but he has moved away from that to Playing more long balls out of defense. As stated, I am not sure what is preferred style is but if you want to summarize my post, I’d say I want him to go back to the style we were playing earlier in the season.

Last season our defence, as such, wasn’t really tested because we won the ball much higher up the park and maintained possession for long periods when we did win it back. That was our defence, keeping the ball. I thought at the beginning of the season we had a good balance of taking more risks in the attacking third but still maintaining a high percentage of possession. We have regressed from that to way too many long balls and last night, that, combined with deciding to sit back, cost us the points. We ended up with 43% possession and I’m pretty sure if you’d looked at that figure around 60/70 mins it would have been closer to 60%. General play has been better over the last few games but I think we need to get back to being “brave” and playing to control games. Reduce the number of long balls. Now and again is fine but we do it too often now Press higher up the pitch, as a team, to win the ball back in better positions. Be patient and keep possession of the ball Work rate and intensity needs to go up a notch or two on and off the ball. edit: maybe getting Oscar back in there with Faddy will help address some of our issues but a lot of it needs to be driven by AJ

Said for me. He done enough while on the field to still be our man of the match. Thought Longelo and SPH put in a power of work and were dead on their feet by the end of the game.

I started watching just before hearts scored. We haven’t looked too bad, plus seeing the HT highlights, we’ve suffered from our usual defensive lapse plus powder puff up front.

I think Sparrow is a good squad player for us and we can get a good return from him coming off the bench to add energy to the team as we tire.
