On the other hand our young average age may well be our big advantage. Fearless, fit and full of running, getting better with every game and training session, as the season goes on.
They definitely have a lot of pluses in their favor and so easily coukd have an untarnished reputation if they just follow the rules. Them bringing in money by being paying fans is very easily eradicated by the outgoing money required to pay fines. Once they (whoever they are) start costing the club money repeatedly then it is better without them. Would rather have them at the games but at some point you have to draw The line and say no more.
Can’t believe we are being written off from European football by some oF our fans. We had Jens for a season and AJ has been here 5 minutes and look how much we have improved, whilst dealing with “best” players leaving and big injury list. We may not win a european contest but we are already more than capable of Competing and what a joy it would be to see us competing in league format euro competition. I’d rather have that than the meaningless league cup but I do understand that people would want us to win a league cup. It would be ideal to do both.
On the plus side being in Europe may hamper Hearts, Celtic and Hibs(?) in the Scottish league
and aside from that I think it has been a good comparison for us to gage where we are as a football team and I’d say it confirms we are heading in the right direction.
Looking beyond today I think we have a pretty strong team and a decent squad, for the season ahead, when all or most of the players are fit.
It could be after tonight that we are the only team out of the 5 Scottish teams that won’t be playing in Europe but that’s more down to the strength of our opponent rather than our performance. However, we are not out yet
COYW!!! Let’s go for it
Haven’t seen Motherwell play in Europe but hopefully rectify that soon. The next best thing is hearing about about all the travel adventures. Good luck to all those traveling and hope you get rewarded with a great display from our team.
Our defense looking pretty good, our midfield looking pretty good, surely we can get one or two of the forwards on our books to start scoring?
AP, Hendry, Thor, JT, RCC, new guy.
We can take a few Positives from the game but also a few lessons. We certainly didn’t embarrass ourselves and didn’t allow a goal from open play but obviously we need to look at how we defend set pieces. Freiburg definitely better than us but of course they are since their squad is about 240m versus our 14M. Wouldn’t surprise me if Freiburg win the whole tournament.
Realistically we won’t win the tie but hoping for a good performance in Germany
While disappointing result, we were playing the Europa league runners up and a team that are almost worth 20X the amount we are worth.
We are also missing key players and still bedding in new players and new manager.
Looking at the bigger picture I think it looks very bright for our season ahead. Hopefully we can go over there and play well and get a decent result.
I’m hoping we keep JT and use him out wide where he played his best stuff last season. We want as strong a squad as possible ao keeping him will help towards that.
