Still think we need another goal

I’m surprised/disappointed that it’s been done now. I thought end of season to consider any offers he got. Perhaps this one is really good for him and that’s fine but from motherwell perspective to sell your “best” player to a close rival during the season does not make sense. If this had been him going to a team out with Scotland it would be a different story.

I’d like to see us offer a bit more going forward.

Take his goals away and see what position we would be in. Take that number of places and multiply by 80k. Then double to cover the remainder of the season. If Utd don’t want to pay that then he stays. Whether he plays or not the remainder of the season is up to him and the manager.

As long as he does earn it, that’s fine.

I think pre contracts should be scrapped. Just stick to the windows for any transfer talks etc. they just put teams and players in awkward positions.

I still find it hard to believe that him or his agent would have already accepted an offer from Dundee Utd. Rather than wait till end of season to see what offers are on the table. So I guess we will learn more over the coming few days.

My issue is not so much with Tony Watt as it is with the way we have found out. Would have been much better all round had an official announcement came from Fir Park which would have been able to also explain the details. Not intricate details but at least how it was going to work and when. Just now it’s just hanging there. Not sure if it s agent or Dundee Utd or who but should have been kept under wraps and announced when finalized. I also wonder how this has happened. Are there not fixed dates for when negotiations can take place? Obviously someone has been negotiating, are they violating any rules? Should be punished if they have done.

In the likely event he doesn’t stay I hope he goes down south and has a good 2 or 3 years or more. But first of all I hope he has a blistering rest of the season for us.

Expect a tougher game next week but still winnable as long as we put the effort and focus into the game. Would be nice to go into the new year, clear in 4th but 1 game at a time.

A bit like the wolves forward who got booked for a foul. Then the player took the free kick while the wolves player is a few feet away. He jumps at it and sticks out his foot to stop the ball (the opposition player did not try to hit him with the ball) what did he think was going to happen???? Of course it’s another yellow and off he goes.

If he can contribute a decent amount of goals along with some entertainment and sort out the needless yellows that will do me. Although I’m still not sure what he thought he was doing to get booked on Sunday.

I have no clue what Hibs hearts and Aberdeen offer, is it really 3x what motherwell pay? All hypothetical but how much more money do we make having him in the team versus not and how much is it worth to us?

I’d like to think that we could at least offer him good enough contract to stop him moving to a team in Scotland. Don’t think we could match any offers from England. Just have to wait and see but can’t fault him if he moves for a good bit more money.

I thought once again, the forwards and midfield pressed well, high up the park. I was watching on and off throughout the game and so did miss bits but I never really noticed Carroll that much which I think was due in part to the good pressing job helping make life easier for the defense.
