Do we play 5 at the back with Gallagher and O’Hara and Mugabi either side of him in the middle?

Yes. Of the Era where 7 was outside right and 11 was outside left and they would sling balls into the box for centre forward 9 who would push his granny out of the way to get to ball and steer it goalward. Pretty sad that I’m old enough now to where there are multiple old fashions to consider.

I’ve not been impressed by White very much. Perhaps he would be a much better asset if we were playing him more like an old fashioned center forward and hitting cross balls into him inside the box. However, we don’t play like that and so I’m not sure why we bought him as he doesn’t fit well into our mode of play and so bringing him on as a sub always weakens us. He just doesn’t chase and harass as the first line of defense and doesn’t seem able to hold up the ball and bring others into play. He’s not the only problem and as mentioned, to be fair, parts of his issue may be how we use him.

By the looks of it best we can hope for is 1-1 not doing much going forward

We are looking a lot more interested today. Not sure that we can leave O’Hara on for the second half. The way he plays it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a second yellow.

I’d put Grimmy at right back, push O’Donnell in front of him and have Crawford on the bench.

What are the transfer window dates?

Definitely looking at one player in isolation is an over simplification.

To be fair though he may be scunnered with the long hoof ball we have been playing where we have not even been trying to play through the midfield. Maybe the new gaffer will change tactics a bit and force him to be involved in the games by actually encouraging the team to play some passing football.

Definitely a good player to have on the team and I hope we keep him which is why I expect a lot more from him than what he is currently contributing. (Polworth)

Among this bunch I’d have his name on the team sheet as well. If having the right attitude is his only good point, he has one more good point than a good few of the others on show at the moment. Although I’d have him at right back with O’Donnell in front of him

He’s played some good games and has the skill but has been crap this season. Just doesn’t look interested. Players go through bad spells but you can at least see them trying to work their way out of it. He seems to have just decided to hide but if the ball does come his way then he just strolls around till dispossessed or hits a wayward pass. He needs to step up the effort and demand and show for the ball more often start imposing himself on games.

Sounds like we are picking the least worst. Not the kind of choice I was hoping for but maybe that’s just what we can afford.

I thought after the Dundee utd and Aberdeen games we had steadied the ship and would build on those results but apparently I was very wrong. ahhhh! For the good old days of 2020
