I think it’s modern tactics. A lot of teams don’t put players on the posts. Not sure why since I see that same scenario week after week. I am still a fan of putting your shorter guys on the posts

3-1 Super Well

For me the frustrating thing is the nature of the mistakes we have made in giving up goals. We do the hard work and raise the performance but then we do schoolboy stuff to give up goals that cost us points. The players just need to work on eliminating the silly mistakes and we’ll save a good few points. Can’t Make up my mind about Long. Maybe one of those players that needs a run of games. I think we can beat Killie and Livingstone and get third place back. It’s Celtic and Rangers, then a big gap to the rest of the teams with not a whole lot between them.

The way I was feeling before the game I’ll take it and move on but it is very frustrating to be so close to taking something from the game and ending up with nothing. We have to focus and win next weeks game to get third spot. All in all we are in a much better place than recent years at the same time. last game of first round of fixtures and we are battling for third spot. In reality as good as we could realistically expect.

Whilst I’m not looking forward to Sunday, we may still well finish the first round of fixtures in 3rd place which is a vast improvement on last season. Even after our defeat on Saturday I think there is still reason for optimism. We find ourselves in or close to being third after having played everyone and we all know there is still lots of room for improvement. COYW

I’m not blaming manager for the first. Physio asked him for 2 mins. McGuire was the stand in and he got beat. We got caught out because nobody was expecting long to loose the ball and so we moved into attacking mode. Long lost the ball and Aberdeen caught us on the break. Second goal was just dreadful stuff. Then it was over. So on to next week we go and hope for better.

Polworth and Scott having quiet game but that’s probably due to Aberdeen. Hardly given a pass to Scott’s feet. Mostly down the left but Aberdeen making sure there is no room. Our goal came from Long loosing the ball much too easily when everyone was moving forward to attack and they just caught us with quick break with us all caught out of position
