I’m never overconfident, just optimistic.
COYW!!
edit: Oooppss! I may have read that wrong. It’s still very early here. Looks like you are talking about County
Hopefully County will leave themselves a bit open at the back as they push for a win and allow space for us to play Bair in behind them. I think we will get 3 points.
I think Halliday is a great player for us to have. He has composure, can actually pass/comtrol a ball and has good vision. Add that to his experience and his tendency to talk to and organize others, I can live with him being a bit on the slow side. He may not be able to last a full 90 mins but if he can produce a good 60 mins in a game it will help us tremendously. He has many more positive attributes than negative.
What offers are pending to existing players? Now that we are guaranteed premier status we should be able to bring those to a quick close one way or the other. Either you want to continue to play for Motherwell or you are moving on. Decide now, so we know what we have to do.
Hope we can follow this up with another victory at County next week. With Hibs playing Aberdeen, any result will benefit us and could see us go into 7th position if they draw and we win.
3
points here virtually assures our safety due to county still to play St Johnstone and our much better goal difference. I imagine Livi will be fired up for this as they try to avoid automatic relegation. I’d like to see us give Bair more support as a team and would really like to see him bag 2 or 3’goals to lift him up the top scorers chart and get us 3 points. COYW!!!
I have to give up and say “I don’t know the handball rule anymore” the only reason we should have got a penalty for Aberdeen handball was to align with earlier decision to chop our goal off. In my opinion neither of them were penalties. Why don’t we go back to good old days of awarding penalty for deliberate hand ball then the decision just has to be did the player make a deliberate effort to handle the ball. Get rid of arm position or making yourself big
I’d pick more obvious injustices/errors to fight. While the sportscene crew were agreeing with MFC I think there were still a number of opinions that a red was correct, even within the Motherwell support. My viewpoint was that it was never going to be overturned and that it was a reasonable call. Perhaps another ref may have went with yellow but I can understand the red. Anyway done and over now and we just have to get on with it. COYW!!
I think the obvious option is to put Bevis up front on his own, move O’Donnell to left wing back, push Casey wide right, have Bair at centre back with Gent in central mid and that should ensure victory
Similarly, if a player dives in and clearly tries to kick or hurt the opponent but the opponent manages to jump clear, that can still be a red card even although no contact.
