2 - 1 for super Well
-
Can't defend todays selection, performance or result but I do believe that McCall has the ability to turn it around and have us finish top 6.
-
I'm predicting 2 - 1 for the good guys COYW
-
Based on our lack of silverware and the need to keep momentum going i would be putting out the team that would have the best chance of beating Hamilton. However, Right now I have no idea what that is.
-
2 - 1 for The 'Well B ased not only on hope and fantasy but also the fact that my prediction for every remaining game this season will be 2 -1 for The 'Well. My record of predicting scores based on information, opinions and judgement is very poor. I figure by predicting the same score for every game I wil probably get more right this season than any other. Kind of like the stopped clock being right twice a day.

2 - 0 for mighty well Sutton to score both !
-
I'm sure you mean Jerry but I get the Jist of it :-) Yep Those cheerleaders might well help attendances! Ohhh and I'll keep buying the lotto tickets too

I think what really worries people the most is that we will go bust. The normal cycle of things is that we are crap but we get better. We are good then we go back to being crap again. etc etc At least that's how it used to work but now the danger is that if we get crap again we may not be able to survive the down cycle. Years ago when we got relegated the thought never croseed anyones mind that we would cease to exist. We would rally round and get promoted again. Much higher price to pay now for failure, yet I don't think we can reasonably expect to sustain the level of success we have seen over the past few years. I agree with the other posters in that we need some financial backing. Doesn't have to be huge, just enough that we can remove the worry of going bust and that will allow us to manage contracts signings transfers etc in order to maximize transfer fees or retain better palyers longer. As was mentioned earlier, buyers know that we need money and therefore can low ball their offers. Or they know that in a year or so a players contract will be up and they can pick him up for free. if we are not already,we should be actively seeking some outside investment whether that be foreign or home grown it doesn't matter but I would think there may be better opportunities from abroad.

That's what I am thinking Ojamma will be playing up front with Sutton or Erwin
-
Yep! I'm going for the good guys too............3 points for the well 3 to 1

is Leitch and Vigurs too attack minded?

It's good that we are having options for positions. pick any 2 from 3 for centre backs McManus, Kerr, O'brien as someone mentioned we need cover for injuries/suspensions/poor form More than enough games for all 3 to make a decent contribution. if one of them does get shut out and not used then hopefully that menas the 2 being picked are doing a sterling job, reflecting in the results on the park. I think Ramsden and Reid are competing for right back spot. For me Ramsden contributes much more to the team at right back than he does at centre back. Left back is hammell's spot not a lot of competition for his place more a case of who fills in when he is out. A position to work on for future seasons? Ainsworth is on the wide right. Liek Hammell just a case of who fils in there. So again we should be looking to the future for this position. Wide left is Angol's for the taking if he can step up and put in some consistent performances. I think he has the potential but can he realise that potentiol remains to be seen. Middle of the park has a lot of competiion with Lasley/vigurs/carswell/leitch and I think I'll include Lawson and Law in here too. Unfortunately I think McCall has been reluctant to make changes he needs to here. By sounds of it Leitch should be starting on merit. No shame to Las, dip in form so he should be on bench for a bit I don't think he is done and I am sure he will get back to playing like we know he can. Up front we have Sutton/Erwin/McHugh/Ojamaa/Moore Sounds liek Erwin should be starting on merit. Sutton struggling, maybe 70% cause of the way we have been playing 30% on his form? but untill we start playing well enough to where we are setting up chances for him in the box i think we need to play Ojamma and erwin to at least provide movement up front. Again there are plenty game to make use of all the players for injuries and plan B's etc. Unfortunately I think McHugh is surplus to requirements but more than glad if he proved me wrong With respect to goalies I am still l undecided on twardzik. Along with many other people i thought it seemed a bit strange end of last year that he got replaced by Hollis. Apologies as I am not familiar with the youngsters at fir park but either through them or from bringing in players I hope we are scoping out players to fill wide positions left and right as well as left full back. Finding another Gem like randolph or Rudy would be terriffic but i think we will be hard pressed to do that but if Nielsen's contract is up end of this season we wil certainly bee needing a new goalie to add to the squad.

debates were much more enjoyable when conducted over a few beers in the pub rather than from behind a keyboard
-
Agree. Falls squarely on McCall as to how we set up and what the game plan is.
-
How do you know most european teams do that? So when Barcelona have an injury they draft in a direct replacement form their youth team? The things they have been doing have had us finish in the top three positions for the last 3 years in a row. when was the last time a motherwell team did that?
-
Fair enough but my 2 main points are as listed below and not addressed by your response. 1. Based on ferguson's display against utd why would McCall not put him in at left back against ICT ? 2. Regardles of position a prefessional player should be able to make a pass. Players out of position Ferguson: How mnay players over the years gave switched between right and lef tfull back and been able to do it? A shit load. While McCall can be blamed fo rmany thigns I don't think he can be blamed for selecting ferguson at left back against inverness. Law: from what i have read not a left mid palyer and not signed with the purpose of filling that role. Ok Obviously I was not at the game but looking at the line up I would say only 2 players are out of position Law and Ferguson. However from what I have read sounds like Erwin was playing a wide left role and the role that was Law was playing was hard to fathom. So for that, yes, I would say is down to McCall. So I don't think our issue is with players playing out of position as much as it is players not playing to their potential and not performing as a team. So it's up to players to perform to their potential and up to McCall to get the formation and tactics right. I think both will happen.
-
everyoen on McCall's back for playing ferguson at left back. Seemed reasonable selection to me. He came on against Utd midweek at left back and by all accounts had a reasonable game. So why nt play him there again against what should be a weaker team. Passing from A to B has sod all to do with playing out of position. It's basic skill any professional player should be able to do anywwhere on the park. So McCall is taking his share of the blame but the players also have to take some blame. Since McCall has proved us wrong on man y occassions I am going to out my faith in hiom again to sort things out. My money is on him knowing much more about the game than all the people on here. He's seeing what we see plus a whole lot more during the week. "In McCall we trust"......................or at least I do COYW

Ropy's comment in general is fair as has been illustrated many times but now and again, due to varying reasons, discover that they are suited to a position other than their original one. Perhaps Ferguson will fall into that categpry. Certainly seems to have played well enough to merit contued playing time in that spot.

what about the kid that played there second half Wednesday?
-
.....and let's not forget "greedy wee shite"
-
Cheers OZ ! I just spent about half an hour watching some great stuff just kept clicking on the videos one after another. The team that beat Celtic twice are a joy to watch.
-
any of our injured players returning for this?
-
they still have to confirm if he will be cleared to play in time. We best make sure 'cause we don't want to see ICT being awarded a 3 - 0 victory.
-
Agree with earlier post that there are planty games and sutton, Erwin and the rest can share the load. Whetehr thats stepping up when the other dips in form or being able to rest injuries for better recovery or having a plan B during a game. The addition of Ojaamma to our team is much much more than just 1 good player added to the squad. The addition of Ojamma will benefit several other players, allowing them to perform much better. I had hoped for something like this but really didn't see it happening. Fkn Awsome news
