  1. We have a squad capable of finishing in top 6 but unfortunately decimated by injuries and hampered by tactics. From a possible starting 11 (shown below) we have Ox, McGinn, Seddon and Stam out and Kaletta been carrying an injury while playing and now out. The sooner Ox gets back the better. I think McGinn replacement has to be Balmer. Sparrow can replace Kaletta or perhaps Seddon but midfield is where it might make or break us. The new manager will have to quickly work out the best formation and combination of players to make us harder to beat but create more chances and support for attack. Forwards we have plenty but which ones will work the best???? New guy Armstrong looks decent but we haven’t given him many chances to see if he can score regularly. Maswanhise is unpredictable but probably worth starting to see if it’s a good day or bad day. No point on bringing him on as a sub to find out it’s a bad day. if the new manager is worth his salt he should be able to take what we have and at least keep us up. Ox McGinn Gordon Casey Kaletta Nicholson Slattery Miller Seddon Maswanhise Stam
  2. Casey should be starting. Has his flaws but for my money, is a starter in our team. I understand trying to keep discipline among the players but not at the expense of being relegated.
  3. We could save time and money and just sack the new manager before we hire him 😂
  4. About 63% possession but zero shots on target to County’s 6 😡
  5. Who is Evatt? I also don’t know Lowe but like others on here, looks a good choice based on reading about him.
  6. Sorry, I didn’t read your post correctly. I thought you suggested playing him thru the middle but I see now that is not the case. I wasn’t being pedantic, I leave that up to weeyin 😂
  7. Although it does save me the cost of coming over to see Celtic beat us in the final.
  8. That result just brightened up my day especially missing the “penalty Rangers” at 90+5
  9. And didn’t see Bair on the other team.
  10. Didn’t we have a few games where we had 4 or 5 in the starting line ? inthink it was last year or year before there was an article about players coming thru academies and Motherwell was far ahead of other teams
  11. I think one of the main factors should be that the new manager has shown an attacking approach to the game with teams they have previously managed and that his previous teams demonstrated the ability to play as a team and not as individual disconnected units. It seems like managers are so afraid to get beat nowadays that their approach is dominated by being defensive, which in a lot of cases leads to defeats so almost like a self fulfilling prophecy. Whereas, if you can put a half decent attacking team on the field you are probably giving yourself a better chance of winning and certainly making a much more enjoyable experience for the fans. I know, perhaps a bit oversimplified but from what I’ve seen in our league, I believe it wouldn't take too much to build a team that could stand out above the majority of the teams.
  12. It also helps keep the Ayr supporters happy. Even if he was not being considered there was enough crap in the newspapers to where Ayr supporters would be concerned but fair do’s to Brown for killing any speculation early on instead of leaving Ayr fans wondering. Of course there was the other Brown a while back who was going nowhere but just having a wee chat 😳
  13. I notice nobody has mentioned Neil Warnock. 😂😂😂 well done everybody👏👏
  14. So did Ian Clinging and he wasn’t half bad
  15. Unfortunately the political will over here is practically encouraging it. All aboard the trump train to travel back in time. 😡
  16. Oh I totally agree. I wasn’t slagging the defenders. Our first line is the forwards to try and slow the opposition down while we organize defensive set up. Then if we decide to let them have space up ton30’yds from our goal then midfielders are the next line
  17. If we don’t task him with chasing a lost cause among multiple defenders and long hopeful balls from his defenders I’m pretty sure he’d last 90 mins or at least a lot closer to it
  18. Ok! Back to the football. As someone mentioned we really need to pick up at least 6 out of the next 9 points so it would be good to have the new guy in place and at least have a few days for him to work with the players if possible. Even with our depleted squad we are still capable of making top 6. If we have the new guy (with new attitude/approach/tactics) in place AND some players back we should be able to have a good run in to the split. COYW !!!
  19. We are also terrible at the first basic rule of defense, close down the player with the ball!! Either that or we have decided that we start defending at the 18 yard line instead out around 30 yards. Similar issue with wide players where we give them too much space to fire balls into the box. we just look very disorganized defensively and don’t seem to go up and down the park as a team.
  20. A few decent individual performances. Goalie, Sparrow, Thompson, Nicholson, Armstrong Average, Gordon and TJ. We’ll get more out of TJ if we can stop using him to chase all the time. Against our peers we should be giving him thru balls on the ground or to feet Poor, O’Donnell, Kaletta, Blaney Kaletta getting a lot of stick but I think he’s been playing thru an injury. SOD been struggling a bit since he came back but even harder for him today against the speed of the Celtic players. Blaney continually tracks back runners behind the defensive line playing forwards onside. Stop doing that! invisible Halliday, Paton MOM Sprrow with Armstrong close behind
  21. Need to use our forward signings and play some attacking football our next 3 games. Based on what we are seeing we have to think we are going to give up goals so we have to bite the bullet and attack and score more than we give up. 8 games to the split so the next 3 will have a big influence on what half we end up in.
