I’ve reached the stage where I try not to get my hopes up and keep fingers crossed we don’t get embarrassed. Quite a few time we seem to handle them pretty well but then waste all the hard work with a silly mistake or the Ref decides to help them out
Champions league: 1 team from each country. No seeding. Straight knock out H+A
europa league: 1 cup winner team from each country. No seeding. Straight knock out H+A
conference league: same number of teams from each league. No seeding. Straight knock out H+A
no dropping down to lower tournament. When you are out you are out.
this would also help reduce number of games players have to play.
would help to spread money more evenly. Only “drawback” is that rich clubs will stop getting as rich. Unfortunately I don’t ever see it going back to that as it’s all about money
See, that’s it right there! It’s the hope that kills you when, once again, we fail. Hence today I am resigned to the fact that we will get nothing. However, by Saturday evening I’ll be 100% convinced that we’ll be taking all 3 points.
I thought his scoring effort in the first half was ok. His angle was very tight and well covered by the goalie so he went for a more difficult option of putting it in at the far post and narrowly missed. It wasn’t an easy chance. The one in the second half he just snatched at it as it came to him quickly.
We had 20 shots, 7 which were on target and 1 that hit the bar plus we had 8 corners none of which we looked particularly dangerous at so I think those stats back up some of your comments. Sooner we get our “preferred” choice strikers in the better. Although I’m sure there will other games where if we have similar stats or worse we will score goals. It’s been a while since we had a midfield move the ball around like we did today. I also noted Mugabi dribbling on a few occasions but I don’t think I like that. 😳
Especially being light up front at the moment looks like we need to work on corners and free kicks. We really didn’t cause any concern for St Midden today from set pieces.
We can criticize and bemoan our lack of scoring power but we are a much better football team than we have been for some time. I am looking forward to a good season and while we will most certainly miss KVV I think when we have some of our injured players return perhaps even before then we are going to win more games than we loose
I think Shaw might provide more of a goal threat than Bair. Bair had decent effort as the angle was pretty tight but just couldn’t steer it into the far corner
Bair certainly puts in a lot of work but because of that I think he should have been subd earlier as he seemed, not surprisingly, to tire. So I think he starts and wears them down a bit for Shaw to come on with fresh legs and take advantage. However, I think it will depend on how the game is going what changes get made. Probably different plan depending on if we are winning or loosing and how nice is it to have a manager with different plans ready to deploy!!
