Right! McGinn or any player for that matter has to be aware of the his defensive line and where the forward are and then step up before the player passes the ball. We haven’t quite mastered that yet. In fact the defensive line should be stepping up in unison like the old Arsenal team of the 70’s I think it was. I’ve also noticed on several occasions where we have followed runners keeping them onside instead of closing in on the man with the ball and letting the runner drift offside.

I was on a plane and so my first reaction was 3-3, looks like great game. Then the disappointment when I saw we had been 3 up but like many people I said before game I’d be happy with a point. As Grizzly pointed out, we still haven’t been beaten. by all accounts we are playing some lovely football which has definitely had an effect on the support. So considering where we are with the squad and new manager things are looking rosy. If most of the other teams stick with the usual dour SPFL tactics we should fair pretty well. Even if we finish 7th or 8th it seems like it will be a lot more enjoyable than it has been these previous years watching us finish there.

Where did he go from county ? I seem to remember him looking good for county

I don’t know anything about Callum Hendry but seems like people like him. What position does he play?

Going to be a tough one but if we can improve on our final third play we are more than capable of winning this but at this minute I’d settle for a point. Having said that, perhaps we will have more room in the final third in this game which we can better exploit.

Don’t think ref WS favoring Saints, just bad/inconsistent. Said and TJ coukd easily have been booked for persistent fouling. Then looked like pk right at the end but I also thought SOD incident should have been ok for us and certainly not a yellow for SOD.

We made hard work of that

Let’s not fk it up now. It’s not won yet.

Yaaassss

Dominating play but no real threat

We are struggling to put a decent ball into the box

Surprisingly so

Ian Thomson arrived at Motherwell in 1962 coming straight from Mussleburgh Winsor, he was a powerful forward who went on to play in over 80 games in all competitions for the Steelmen, his goal return was modest in that he found the back of net in 15 occasions, he was released six years later in 1968, it was felt that he was player that should have brought more in his time in Lanarkshire, he joined South African club Hellenic in 1968.

Ian Thompson. There! Addressed that point

I think we have the basis of a good team and we should be looking to make sure some more of them are signed up for a few years so we either keep them or make some money on them. Of course we do need to add to our squad, hopefully with at least a couple worthy of being starters. Not sure what JBA’s contract is but it should be at least a three year one. And reviewing it at end of each year to consider extension.

But still not 100% completed and confirmed yet, right?

How is the feed on MFCTV? Mine just keeps buffering. Maybe my internet acting up

Yep, Montrose 4-1 at Fir park. I was at that game and I believe his hat trick was in approx the last 15 mins of the game. also, if my memory is correct, his first appearance for Motherwell was versus Tranmere Rovers in a pre season friendly at fir park and Joe ended up being the goalie!

Jordan White on the bench too

But if we can make it to Europe with a half decent team then next season we can haul in some extra cash from Europe.
-
I’m going with the old 2-3-5 set Up and not a lot of thought and even less memory 😳 Randolph Watson Wark Aitken W. McCallum McCart Marinello Hunter Pettigrew Graham Cooper

I think Stama will come good but we still need at least one more striker anyway. What happened to the lad from Carlisle we had on loan last season? Armstrong? Is he first choice there now or move to another club? I think he would be a decent choice playing in our team with our new approach. I’m also hoping our midfield will be encouraged to take on some shots from the 18 to 25 yard range. That coupled with TJ and Longelo I think we can spread the goals around. Wondering, how many goals are we expecting to get from our “main” goal scorer? What’s the bar to determine, by the end of the season, if we have a proven goalscorer or not? I think our highest priority for now though, is to sign a strong imposing centre back.

I’m hoping all of our clubs progress in Europe and that it wears them down for SPFL games.
