  1. Absolutely perfect. Could not have went any better! Solid, professional, no suspensions picked up and some flashes of genius. Made us proud. Roll on the 21st of May!
  2. I'm disgusted to read all this. It'll be interesting to see how apologists for the casuals will justify this.
  3. If Randoloph & Craigan are going to be unavailable to us on the 29th they simply cannot have the replay that week. Only reason it's even penciled in for then is that United have had so many games cancelled at Tannadice. No way should they get the benefit of a later replay date and then the added benefit of us being without our captain and our best player this season.
  4. Hence why I said not a total dud. Didn't listen to the commentary, but folk said they were raving about him, and Langfield had to make 2 or 3 excellent saves to deny him. So yeah, he's done himself no harm and I'd say he's started with some promise.
  5. There'll be a few folk not knowing whether to be happy or beiling tonight. I mean Jeffers proves not to be a total dud and McCall produces the great result our recent play has merited (excluding Ibrox). Confusing times for some...
  6. Welcome to reality. Despite European qualifications, the club has no money. Despite these European qualifications, we had to scramble for a shirt sponsor, for which we didn't get much. You could argue that the sponsorship deal is the fault of those in charge at the club, or you could argue that Scottish football isn't that profitable is very unattractive for sponsors. I think it's the latter. If the club has no money and a ptitful 3,500 odd turning up for home games, what exactly do you expect other than mediocrity? In fact, given the stark reality, and regardless of McCall's managerial competency, mediocrity is something we may be longing for in a year or two. Some would say that Mark McGhee was Boyle's choice for manager instead of McCall...
  7. Some Motherwell fans will be perversely creaming themselves over this result. Some didn't want McCall from the start, so they will have been waiting for this sort of result to have an opportunity to put the boot in. For what it's worth, I'm ok with McCall just now. Seems to be saying the right things. Judge him during next season after he's had a summer to sort the squad and bring in some players. And I'm fed up hearing folk going on about how we can't beat the worst Rangers team in ages. So they're the worst Rangers team in ages... Aye, and what of it? If Rangers have had a drop in quality due to the conditions of the modern football world, does it not stand to reason that Motherwell will have suffered just as much and had the same drop in quality, if not, maybe more? Nah, we can't let logic get in the way of having yet another go at Motherwell FC. Pathetic.
  8. I've not read the thread, but I'm genuinely surprised that people are surprised at this result. We're usually poor against Rangers at Ibrox when at full strength, let alone when we have players injured. I know Lasley and Craigan were playing, but weren't they carrying injuries? Fact of the matter is that the club is skint and so we've got a threadbare squad. I knew we'd get beat today, I was hoping it wouldn't be a heavy one, but it is. As I said, it's not surprising for me. If anyone was expecting a win, draw or narrow 1 goal defeat today then you need to reel in your expectations and step into reality.
  9. Ha ha... My dad was talking about this when the team was read out the other night. And yeah, we've had quite a few Steve/Stevie/Stephens for a few years now.
  10. Agreed. The other trialist that was playing on the same team as Casagolda that evening looked a far better player. I assumed we'd sign that boy and was surprised to say the least when we signed Casagolda considering he'd pretty much done the square root of hee haw in the trial match. I can only assume Brown's dementia started to set in that night...
  11. Good that he stepped up to take charge. Having said that though, and while I appreciate he's said himself management isn't for him, I don't particularly think he deserves any actual praise beyond the thanks for taking charge.
  12. Hey, weeyin, don't let facts get in the way of folk having a right good moan. You're ruining their enjoyment!
  13. I genuinely don't see any difference with Butcher and McCall. Strong ties with Rangers, dodgy managerial records. I think the difference between now and when Butcher became manager is that back then we had far bigger things to worry about. We've obviously tried to get what people see as a higher calibre of manager, but it hasn't worked out. We don't want McPherson, Hughes, some don't want Calderwood, so who exactly do people think the board are going to manage to appoint other than someone like McCall? They can't pull a top notch manager out their arse... Like others, I'm scunnered at the moment with the state of Scottish football and Motherwell. However, for some on this managerial appointment, a definite reality check is needed methinks.
  14. 40 applications, not 140. So Derek Weir said on Radio Scotland today. And those are the guys that the papers are quoting. We, and probably the papers, don't know for a fact that those are the frontrunners. Weir said it was down to 2 or 3.
  15. There wasn't a bounce ball. The ref gave a throw, it was taken (after the ball was changed), thrown to McCulloch who kicked it to Randolph. At least that's how I remember it!!! I wasn't paying much attention due to how guff it was...
  16. While I agree with other folk that this has been handled poorly in the media etc, TheLip69 is spot on here as far as I'm concerned.
  17. Like Tommy McLean and Terry Butcher? (Mark McGhee also)
  18. I've been looking at that Scottish Football thread and finding myself agreeing with folk on it. Been feeling a fair bit of apathy for a good couple of months about the whole of Scottish football. If John Hughes becomes our next manager, I'd seriously be considering whether I would be forking out the best part of £300 in the summer for a season ticket. Given the way I feel just now, and the fact I've got other financial commitments these days, I don't think I'd be too eager to renew, and I say that as someone who's had a season ticket every season since probably a couple of seasons before the '91 cup win.
  19. Methinks there won't be many of those sold unless folk are in need of a dartboard.
  20. I didn't think they'd go, but excellent news nonetheless.
  21. Well said. And folk moan if a newspaper gets a players name wrong, or a picture caption or something. Oh and it'd be nice if the club could get players names correct too. Did anyone else get the email 2 or 3 months ago about player sponsorship? It was listing players and their shirts that were still available, including a "Chris Humphries" and a "Shaun Hutchison". Not sure if Chris Humphrey and Shaun Hutchinson's shirts were available for sponsorship though... Only a minor error, but it seems a little daft and unprofessional if the actual club can't get stuff like that right.
  22. TheLip69 has an unnatural hatred for Canterbury. I mind him ranting about it when the deal was announced and then again when the strips were launched. Oh and court jester one for me.
  23. I've never heard of this before. I can see why. It's fucking shite.
