Aye, fair point. If 1,000 members weren't able to vote because they're junior members, that does change things somewhat.
-
I get that, but my point isn't about the vote that's just happened. That is done and dusted and valid and it should be honoured. My point is about my concerns with any future vote regarding the future of the club and any sale to an outside investor; if less than 50% of the Well Society vote in any poll regarding the sale of shares, or purchase of or whatever, does that in any way constitute a majority of the membership? Would the WS Board then need to put into action the results of a vote which regards anything from the sale of the club, sale of some of the WS stake, or agreeing to outside investment and does that, in corporate law/takeover requirements, constitute a valid vote to support any legal requirements to be able to vote as a block of 72% of the club. Sorry that's a bit of a word salad but I'm typing quickly before having to jump into a meeting.
-
Aye, that's what I was hoping for/mentioned later in my post. I really hope it does. Like, how can the WS Board vote its 72% block of shares with less than 50% of the membership voting? That's not a realistic majority for something as crucial as the sale of the club.
-
Whoever ran/set up the poll in whatever package (I assume SurveyMonkey or the like) should have all that data available; delivery success, open rates, link clicks, all of it should be there.

People do realise that this is just a vote to consider proposals which give up fan ownership, right? Like, there will be another vote for all of the club's shareholders, including the society and private shareholders for or against any proposed takeover? Granted, the WS holds the majority by a long distance and it will vote as a block, but still. This isn't a done deal, at all. This might, in a way, galvanize those that didn't vote to sit up and take notice. I hope it does. And before any chirps up, I will always vote against any proposal that gives up fan ownership (for the record, I'm a private shareholder, not a WS member. Yet.) The turnout is appalling, frankly. That speaks to a few things, I guess. The question was ambiguous, people who didn't get the e-mail not requesting one, apathy in general, the quick nature of the turnaround etc. etc. You'd have to think that if we do get to the stage of there being a proposed investment, that there would need to be a certain level of turnout for the Well Society Board to be able to say that it truly represents the feelings of its members?

With Livi going, I assume that means a vote can be forced at 11-1 or even 12-0 in favour to rule them out of the Premiership forevermore if Killie are getting rid anyway?
-
I'm not sure Nicholson will start in a game like this; we need Davor's bite/covering in the middle against Rangers. Nicholson did well on Wednesday night but I think he'll come off the bench, probably for Vale.
-
Shitting bricks big man, eh? Don't worry, we'll always feed you first. There's rumours about him and another of Livi's strikers; Yengi, maybe? Nothing concrete that anyone can confirm or deny.

Lol steelboy will never change that tune. Ever.

Aye, I get that; saw your reply above and edited my post to agree with you on that. Personal stuff isn't called for.

With our run in the way it's currently looking (i.e. after Saturday, a good amount of time for injured players to recover and other niggles to heal) we've got a realistic(ish) chance of getting maybe 7-9 points from those before the split if we continue to play the way we have been. Granted, we could equally get 0 or 12, this season has been mad not just for us in terms of up and down results.
-
You do understand that's kind of the point of a forum like this, yes? Y'know, to discuss opinions and points of view to engage with other fans? Otherwise you'd be better having a blog/Twitter account with the replies locked. I do take your point about things getting personal, however. That's not needed.

I was making a lighthearted comment about them being well oiled. I get the point you made.
-
A well oiled Rangers team. Ew.

Prefer this one myself: https://x.com/MotherwellFC/status/1762971552239296992?s=20

This. People were quick to blame him for the first goal, but that lies squarely with Miller and then Casey. He had an incredibly effective performance. Nothing flashy but put two excellent crosses in and won some very important defensive duels when we were at 1-1 and 2-1. Exactly what you want from a wing back. He's never going to fly past defenders or beat them one on one but when he's on his game, he really is excellent. Also he kicked Jack Grealish that one time.

Both; split between Dalziel Park and Ravenscraig, I believe (and based on training videos the club release). The club has taken on management and investment in two of the pitches at Dalziel Park and this has improved the surfaces there greatly (confirmed by Kettlewell at the AGM as well as with feedback from the players), I assume in an effort to provide better grass based training as well as to prevent injuries due to the parks there cutting up.

Out of interest, have you got experience in this kind of thing; corporate finance/accounting etc.? Just curious, not wanting to belittle in any way; think it's great you've taken the impetus here.
-
He wasn't even on the bench on Sunday, so wouldn't anticipate seeing him any time soon. Would love to be proved wrong, though. I guess it depends on what kind of midfielder he is; if it's a winger or wide man there's nae chance he'll get used by Ketts in his system.

As far as I know the whole family are Motherwell fans, so here's hoping for something like that!
-
Yup, was just about to post this. He gave a good example of Wilkinson and another who I forget; both of these injuries were in the last 60 seconds of training and when they did their analysis, they reduced the times of the training sessions and altered them in terms of intensity and other activities to try and reduce the risk. Slattery's injury was just a complete freak occurrence; his stud got caught and it twisted his leg the wrong way and "twang" he's done for 9 months.

Sorry mate the tag didn't work so only just catching up on this. You're correct, Sean (Shaun?) from the WS board stood up and mentioned that he wants the WS to have the option and due diligence the others parties are getting to be able to guarantee the kind of backing on offer. Derek Weir agreed and said that as both a member of the WS and as a fan, that was his personal preference for the club moving forward. I think a lot of the so called "need" for investment has come from, as you've outlined yourself in the last few days, a particular malaise around the Society for a long time. Hopefully now the new board will be able to take things forward and change that perception and also fill the coffers a bit to support more investment in the club.
-
The planned investments will be made, as far as I'm aware, in the purchase of additional shares (i.e. adding monetary value to the club) and by diluting, in percentage terms, the holding of both the Society and any private shareholders such as myself. The Society won't be diluting its shareholding by selling off some of its own, it'll have its shareholding diluted by the investor purchasing their own shares of the club. So the Society will still hold the same number of shares, that will just be a lower overall % of the total number of shares held in the club. Someone else can clarify here but no one is being asked to "sell" their shares as part of any of the current terms that have been discussed. Again, those terms could change based on any best and final offers which are/aren't made if negotiations continue to that stage with any party/parties (Also should we not be having this chat in the investment options thread this is about Sir Stuart of Kettlewell)

I'm playing 7s at 8pm, so will catch the tail end... I fully expect my game to be more entertaining if you want to pop by Portobello High School for the lulz.
