Not quite calling it shite, but his signing has been labelled as "making or breaking" our season. 🤔 🙄

Stop stealing @grizzlyg's patter.

I was too, but I wondered if he's maybe carrying a niggle and they didn't want to risk him on that surface; similar with Seddon staying on the bench. One thing I'll say for Wilson; whilst he's not set the left wing back role alight like Gent did last season, he's got two assists in three games now and arguably should've had more had Moses not shanked a few chances. One other thing to add is that I was impressed with Wells when he came on; took the ball to feet and ran at the opposition. He made a couple of poor decisions in and around the box (passed when he should've shot etc.) but it definitely feels like there's a player in there. Still not sure what his best position is, though. He did drift wider at points and I quite like the idea of him having a free(ish) role as a 10, or as one of the 10s with Stuparevic playing a more "rigid" support striker type of role to Robinson.

I've not watched it back but it felt like the midfield was running out because all Moses had to do was play it back to a defender to give them an out ball and... Didn't. Also, I think one of our defenders fell over looking for a foul that never came and (eventually) got back up, hideously out of position, which isn't a good look. I do think you're right, we had a lot of midfielders looking to get forward yesterday which often left Davor isolated. On a slightly related note; is Balmer injured? I cannot understand why he's not starting over Casey or Blaney. I thought Blaney did well on Tuesday but Donachie bullied him all day yesterday and he didn't cope well. Casey's distribution outside the odd good ball in behind was laborious and inaccurate again, he pinged a pass at SODs chest high like an Exocet from 10 yards away and complained when he didn't get it under control. Madness.

I think Jim McMahon did. Reeks of the Exec Board in their club ties. It's also quite telling that the first two post-Burrows strips are... polarising. I actually don't mind the away top much, but want to see it in person before I make a final call on getting it, or buying the training gear instead.

He's still a free agent. Seemingly he was on ridiculous cash from the deal Alexander gave him and he was offered more "realistic" terms.

I think Jay posted over on P&B that Sally was completely swamped with people wanting to join and/or restart/update their contributions. It might be a while! But absolutely agreed; if they can show that they're already on their way to meeting the first bit of #ThePlan by reinvigorating contributions to the WS, it's a solid start!
-
... yes? I'm not entirely sure of the point you're trying to make. This was going to be an issue, regardless of the investment. Barmack's investment was never going to get anywhere near funding a new stadium, nor was any of the money he and the WS were going to put in to the Club be used for that, or to improve the playing squad. It was for his "strategic projects" which may or may not have generated revenue/income to then fund a new stadium. There's ways to raise the funds for a new stadium, the first being the eventual sale of the land FP is on, once it's properly valued. Then add in sponsorship agreements/naming rights (which may well include strategic investments as outlined in the WS plan), setting aside of % from transfer fees for it and other methods etc. Here's an example; let's say the Society ends up with £1,000,000 in the bank from contributions over the next 12-18 months. That pot remains as the safety net for the "doomsday" scenario we now know so much about. Income generated after that from subscriptions, fundraising and other ventures can then be set aside into another account/property fund or given to the Club to start building a funding pot for a new stadium, or if the move doesn't need to happen, the start of a pot to renovate/demolish/build a-new the main stand. I don't think anyone is questioning the need for investment, or the situation we find ourselves in.

I don't think anyone disagrees that we need investment in the Club to help us maintain financial stability. However, I think the rest of what you're saying is catastrophising/taking the worst possible scenario. What kind of "give" are you looking for, exactly? The WS' proposal includes an entire section on strategic investments in the Club and bringing in external investors. Why do you think it's set us back light years? I would argue that this has made it quite clear to investors what the fans are wanting; people to come in and provide a reasonable input for a reasonable return and that we won't be taken for a ride. Every other Club is free to operate how they choose to; I think our model is the best for Motherwell. How many of those clubs are in potentially chronic/crippling amounts of debt to those investors? Sooner or later they're going to want their money back and that'll potentially spell catastrophe for them, just like it did when Boyle realised he'd fucked it.
-
Aye, I think he clearly had his issues whilst with us but whenever he did play it wasn't good. I remember him getting absolutely roasted by Tavernier at FP but I'd argue that was the role he was being asked to play; Alexander was happy for crosses to come in and he never closed him down once.
-
I did at the time he was appointed and similarly to @weeyin, it was ... fine and he made sense as an appointment. Perhaps not for the best part of 10 years, though. I think there will absolutely be people who are just as qualified (perhaps more so) within our support/sphere of influence to provide the expertise required as a chairperson of the Club. Personally, I would advocate for that person to be an independent appointment moving forward; so someone without direct links/ties to the Well Society and the Club side of things; to me it's important that if they have the casting vote, they're able to do so with complete neutrality based on what's presented to them. I'll flip the question to you, as well; did you take the time to check out Erik Barmack's business CV, rather than his content creation/creative one? Because it's severely lacking any kind of business acumen, aside from starting Wild Sheep Productions and having an MBA from 20+ year ago.

Quick summary from me. Starting XI: Ox didn't do much wrong and made a good save onto the post and took some crosses well. SODs was alright but was barely given the ball in behind when he made runs to try and give us some width. Casey was laborious in possession and when he did have it, his passing was pretty haphazard, or sideways. I lost count of how many times SODs made a run to give Casey the option to chip/dink it in behind and he didn't take it once. Blaney was fine up until the goal; he absolutely shouldn't be getting turned in that position. He was better than Casey on the ball and looked more composed with it at his feet, to me. Gordon impressed me; his communication was excellent and definitely feels like what was missing last season. I expect him to start in the middle of the three with Balmer and McGinn and Blaney as first back-up. Wilson hasn't convinced me that he's got the pace or desire to get beyond a man in the last two games, which worries me given we're so reliant on our wing backs to provide the width and pace in our team. He's the definition of a full back playing as a wing back. Davor did his job; it's not eye catching, but it's effective. Miller did well but his frustration at the lack of anything happening in front of him became clear; he had a go from 25 yards when he could've slid SODs in to get in behind in the second half. Paton continues to baffle me; I've no idea how Kettlewell thinks he's a 10. He's at best a 6 or an 8 but even then he's not got all the attributes you need to play either role. He seems to always get on the ball but also simultaneously be hiding from it. When he does get it, everything slows down, to the point where the opposition can regroup and defend as a unit again. This happened loads last season, too. Halliday was busy and did OK at times but he's absolutely not a 10. He does look to be fitter and slightly quicker than last season but he's more of a sitting midfielder these days, I would say. Robinson did well with very little service and put himself about; looks like he's got a good bit of pace as well and he drove forward with the ball when he could. Similar to Miller in that you could see his frustration building with lack of support/options around him. He played some good balls over the back only for Paton (that man again) to have checked his run or not made what was a fairly obvious 1-2 type move happen. Subs: In general, they were all made too late to make any kind of impact, but: Moses is the definition of chaos and I'm here for it. He did have some nice touches and took the ball into feet a few times, which was encouraging. Ferrie didn't do anything to impress me; he was far too eager to go down for the penalty when he could've easily gotten a shot away. He definitely needs time away on loan where he can "learn" what he needs to be doing in those situations. Stuparevic had some nice touches and looked to drive forwards with the ball at their back line which we'd missed all night; 2 minutes of action though? Really? Assuming it was for penalties more than anything. Big man loves oversize shorts, too.

Well, aye, of course? We rarely pay significant fees. Anything we do pay will likely be paying up a player's contract and not much more. That won't take up "much" of Bair's fee.
-
I can't see us signing a winger, Kettlewell has never played them with us and won't start now. Definitely a number 10/support striker type required and preferably another left wing back.
-
One thing I will say about the Main Stand is that it has the best view in the stadium; my first season ticket was in the family section there, immediately next to the old away area separated by the ricketiest wooden barrier ever. I can still remember beating Rangers 2-1 (Willie Falconer scoring the winner) and some absolute reprobate reaching over the top of me (I was 9 or 10 I think) to grab my uncle by the neck after he'd had the audacity to tell him to calm down and stop screaming because he was next to the family section!
-
I don't think anyone is expecting them to be doing the latter, stop being so fucking condescending. The Society absolutely has to start acting on its own proposal; they're already doing that based on their statement here as they're talking with Caldwell about next steps etc. We also all need to step up, too, as fans. The Society recognises the Club needs backing and that we need to do better raising funds to support it, so if we can, we should be upping our restarting our contributions just like @wellfan. It's not time for any of us to sit still and say "they'll deal with it, it'll be fine." Nope. It's time for us to be the ones making the difference, however we can.
-
Fairly sure he'll be battering into ICT next.
-
His form really dropped off a cliff; he'd scored 13 by December and only managed five since then, three of them in January; seems like he was released rather than him choosing to leave. Not sure he's the type of striker we need? I'd expect him to get a decent deal in and around League One.
-
Potentially if it impacts on travel up to Montrose; game wise it's an artificial pitch and the weather warning is due to stop around kick off.

Aye, last time we came close was Rangers in 2018: https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/motherwell/attendances/2018-2019

Nah, it's one of the new training tops. Saw them in the club shop on Saturday.
