To be fair to Thomson that wouldnt apply if he has deemed him to have pulled Sinclair back. It applies for a genuine attempt to win the ball. It protects for Goalkeepers and mistimed tackles, not professional fouls. Although I dont think he denied an obvious goalscoring opportunity as he was going away from goal and had a lot still to do.

Theres been some laughable ones recently. Ryan Jacks, while hardly assault were both worthy of red cards by generally accepted standards, regardless of whether Stokes/Broadfoot were entirely innocent. Was it Windass that punched a stjohnstone player last season, but apparently not hard enough and won his appeal. The scott Brown one at Ross County last season where he was raging and did the boy was a farce, he only appealed it to troll Rangers as it meant he could play in the old firm game due to a quirk of a bank holiday and he won the appeal. Meanwhile pretty reasonable appeals from other teams get flung out every week. I always go back to the 2 wee had in quick succession 5 or so years ago, the one Higdon got cited for doing the Higdon and the one where Jim Goodwin punched Jennings and they both got a ban. The system is a farce at the moment, there appears to be no logic or consistency to what appeals are won and lost and what is cited and what isnt.

Perhaps not appealing and stating why could carry more weight than an appeal we are unlikely to win. Im happy with the reason for not appealing. Everyone knows it was wrong, but unfortunately we cant change it.
-
I think the game plan was to cancel them out for an hour and then try and change things to be a bit more positive, perhaps in the hope they would tire after the PSG game and travel etc.? You cant press a team like Celtic for 90 mins on a park that size.

I think the FAI got a compensation payment of sorts for the Thierry Henry handball in the 2010 World Cup play off.
-
He definitely appeared to have a smirk just after he showed the red card, Id guessed it was a response to something that was said to him, rather than him just being pleased with himself though...

What goggles and flippers said. I dont think Thomson is a cheat, but it is easier to give decisions against the likes of us than give a big game changing decision against Celtic. Not convinced its a red card, but the new rule only protects the defender for a mis timed tackle or player going over goalkeeper, a genuine attempt to win the ball, but I dont see it as an obvious goalscoring opportunity, so not a red for that reason. (It wasnt even a foul, but if it was...)

I remember getting told that 20 years ago playing u-15s, so its not a new thing. As I say, if referees start giving fouls, particularly in and around the penalty area when players dont go down, well be halfway there.
-
The problem is, referees very rarely give a penalty when a player doesnt go down. Theres an example I saw online earlier of Scott Sinclair being pulled back for about 5 yards, staying on his feet and no foul. (There is also a complete dive at Dens in the 1/4 final) If referees start giving penalties when a player is fouled but tries to stay on their feet, maybe they wont feel the need to make a meal of any contact. That said, there was no foul for Sinclair to exaggerate. He just took a dive.

I thought that with their semi v Hibs. They played Bayern away on the Wednesday and Hibs at lunchtime Saturday, so theyve got an extra 2 days recovery for the final. Hopefully they get run ragged. Although potentially a good performance, but ultimately losing out could be more demoralising and energy sapping than a routine 3-0...

The Edinburgh derby will be on TV, and Id be very surprised if Rangers arent on. Wouldnt be amazed if they showed Celtic game too. Could see ours as a potential Friday night slot, but thats BT normally...
-
Im looking for the usual, a winnable away tie to a ground Ive not been too, maybe save tynecastle for the 1/4 final though... Worst draw is away to a Premier team or likes of dundee Utd, livi, Falkirk that weve played 100 times before.
-
Id think well go with yesterdays starting 11, except Campbell in for Grimshaw.
-
Flow said on twitter that was what theyve planned to do. Hopefully its something we need regularly.

Vile abuse is a bit OTT if its the one I saw. Out of order and no way to ask for help, but youve lead a sheltered life if you're on Twitter and think thats vile abuse. You'd think people would be fairly understanding of the fact we have a ticket office that normally deals with a few hundred to maybe 1500 tickets and were asking them to do ten times that on top of their usual business.
-
Id think St Johnstone would have more to worry about...

Anybody know if there are likely to be flags for sale at the game? Or beforehand? Was going to get one for my wee boy, but wasnt that keen on the official one. (Apparently timeframe was too tight for them to get bigger ones). Cheers.

I would think at a minimum we will keep all of section A, even if unsold for segregation. Id think section B (wank wank wank) will be held back and sold block by block if and when required.
-
Think the biggest challenges Celtic have faced this season has been teams having a go, as Killie did in the 2nd half the other week and Hibs did in the 2-2 draw earlier in the season. Whether you can maintain that for 90 minutes is a different matter...

I often think Kipre starts off positioned badly, but seems to recover well. He has undoubted ability, and all the physical attributes, but I think he gets caught under the ball or out of position too often and generally manages to recover, but against better sides, he will be punished.

While it doesnt seem a stretch, even if they insisted on Special delivery, still cheaper than a round trip to fir park for many. Perhaps theres potentially far too much work involved if you get guys from bellshill saying they cant get to ticket office... could end up with thousands of tickets to post if they opened the option. Likes of Rangers and Celtic have a full time operation in place sending out thousands of tickets every week. Most of us are probably on 1st name terms with the ticket office staff at fir park.
-
See above and below points. There is no way we will reach a point where we havent got enough for everyone. (I can see the point we couldve limited to 3 per season, as we couldnt technically fulfil 5 tickets for every season ticket holder, but the chances of everyone with an adult and 2 kids in the Cooper turning up looking for 15 tickets seems beyond unlikely.)
-
My dad told me he couldnt get a ticket for the league game v Rangers just before the 1991 cup final, but in hindsight that mustve meant he bought the very last ticket. Or more likely didnt want to take a 9 yr old due to KO time and potential for bother....

Noticed Gavin Gunning got a goal for Port Vale in the FA cup 1st round tonight. Maybe be another ex well FA cup hero, like Roy Essandoh.

I think youre spot on. Weve had a Phil Odonnell Tribute match (which was hi jacked by parading the league trophy and Henrik Larsson). Meaning no disrespect to the memory of Phil Odonnell or Davie Cooper, but its an unnecessary distraction from what could be a great day for our club.
